- There are so many great books we can use to develop the skill of flexibility on the trumpet. One of the most important skills we need as a trumpeter, greater flexibility helps make the trumpet easier and more fluid. Join me as we dive into my favorite flexibility book: Bai Lin Lip Flexibilities.

Every time I watch one of your videos my playing/practice improves
You are the best Jeff. Thanks for watching and supporting!
Charles Colin to start, then Bai Lin progressing to Scott Belck's books. Then for a more musical approach get Erik Veldkamp's two Flexibility Big Books. The etudes in those are absolute gold and very enjoyable to perform.
I didn’t know about Erik Veldkamps book. I’ll have to check it out!
Good stuff as always @Ryan!
Thanks!
Thank you, great share! Never heard of this book until watching your video. Got the book immediately.
I hope you enjoy digging into it!
Great video as usual! I use some exercises from Bai Lin that my band’s section leader gave me. You have helped me see how to do them consistently. I mix Bai Lin with the Walter Smith book. And I just started on Laurie Frink’s Flexus book. I think that one is going to be great. Laurie says her book (which is progressive) is not meant to replace other methods. But I’m going to stick with her slow progressive method every day.
I’ve worked out of the flexus book a bit in my career. The etudes at the end of each section are so cool.
Great content as always sir! I was wondering if you could make a video in the future about creating recordings/content for trumpet. What the ideal gear/microphones would be, ideal rooms to record in, software you use to edit recordings or create your videos, etc. I'm finding myself submitting audition recordings more often and I'm also wanting to do some content creation myself, and I figured you would be a great person to get that advice from.
Thanks!
I will add it to the list. I think I have a video on why it’s important to record, but nothing like what you’ve suggested
Great video! Could you please talk about making All State and tackling Voxman studies in a video?
I’ll add it to the list!
Good info fellow tooter👌
Thanks 👍
Just played caprice for S&E!
How did it go? I enjoy that piece a lot.
@@RyanBeachtrumpet superior posted the video on my channel
@@nolancrews4850 I just checked it out. Nice work! Thanks for sharing it!
Recently added this book back in my routine and its been wonderful! Would love to hear what your favorite exercises or books for the other fundamentals are!
I’ll think about what other books I could cover. Thanks for watching!
What's your opinion on Belck's book ?
I think it’s great! The Bai Lin book is more simple, which I like when getting a groove going. But I’ll switch to his book soon.
@@RyanBeachtrumpet thank you for your reply and your videos gives me and all of us players food for thought .
