I have an old school Volvo with drum brakes, with Volvos Z cam. Such a big difference with the disc brakes that trucks are fitted with now days. My newest truck have the i shift, with crawler gears and hydraulic retarder. That brake have to be used smartly as so powerful it can wear down the drive tires really fast.
They talk as if there wasn't a point in time where trucks didn't have Jake brakes lol one of my trucks doesn't have a Jake brake, never had a problem on hills if you do it right
5:03 "If the brake is not properly adjusted to begin with, things can go downhill pretty quickly." Anybody else catch that epic pun?
Sure did!😂
This was good. I was taught in the early 90's to hold slight pressure in steep grades. Not the stab method, but it was implied on the road.
Castlegar is a wonderful place. I live in Abbotsford, it's also wonderful. Would never go back to the city!
Awesome video a guy told me the same , if your stabbing the brakes your going to fast

Thank you so much - great, useful content!
I just engaged my trailer wings and trim out my trucks flaps and fly over the hill and glide down untill I find a place to land.
Stop lying, I watched you stick your feet through the hole in the floor and when that didn't work you pulled the parachute.
@@harley8918 hahaha! Engage Flintstone drag brakes!
