- In this video I create a bowl with epoxy resin and dried flowers, and it's a birthday gift for a really wonderful friend of mine. It's a simple yet really effect project and I loved how it turned out. Now the birthday gift has been received I can share the creation video :)
Materials used:
Apex High Gloss two part epoxy resin from Just4YouOnlineUK
Dried flowers from Amazon
Silicone bowl mould - this was part of a set of three lidded pot moulds from Amazon but I didn't want to create a lid for this one. This mould takes 150ml of resin
I had a few large air bubbles that needed patching so I used my JDiction UV resin to fill those. Any small air bubbles with sharp edges were smoothed down with a nail file.
That's pretty much it! Usually it would be best to dip all of the flowers in resin first but these seemed to be incredibly fragile so I honestly didn't think they could take the weight of the resin without tearing and I doubt I would have been able to push them down the side of the bowl without damaging them. Doing it the way I did I knew would create more air bubbles along some of the little stems but I'm honestly not too mad at that. I did fill the bubbles near the rim which were disappointing, but overall it turned out really nicely and I think the bowl is very pretty. Thankfully my friend likes it too!
Music in the video is by Doctor Turtle - "His Last Share of the Stars" from the built in music library on Movie Maker.
Video filmed using a Fairphone 4.
I think that is just gorgeous and your friend is going to love such a thoughtful gift. I know I would ❤
Thanks lovely. My friend really loved it :)
So beautiful, what a lovely gift ❤ xx
Thank you :)
Lovely! 💜
I do have a cute little flowerpress and planned to do something like this. Turned out that if I fill it to the max I might get as many pressed flowers as one of those packs and it takes minimum 4 weeks. I have also put leaves and flowers between A4 papers and newspapers topped with a pile of books. Still not more than two of those packs. So, a lot of work and time to press after gathering a nice variety, or clicking a few packs home within a few days. Yes, there are microwave presses but I don't have a microvave oven.
Thanks Mizz. I was really fascinated by that microwave flower press. I suspect the electricity cost of running it to dry/press the flowers would end up costing more than it does to just buy them!
Very pretty bowl, amazing how the resin is so clear like glass. Perhaps Santa will give you a pressure pot for Christmas! Any news on Slinky cat?
Thanks Peter. I used the best quality resin for this because I wanted it to be really clear and the Apex resin is fab for that. Sadly still no news about Slinky. It's been 2 months now and not a single person in the village has seen him, nothing in any of the lost/found pet or nearby town and village community groups. I've spent hours out on my mobility scooter going around every street in the village and the edges of all the farmlands that surround us but absolutely no joy. It's really hard not knowing but I hope he's just found a nice place to hang out where he's being spoilt. We both miss him terribly :( Thank you for asking and for thinking of him x
@@marymcintyresfxartcraft7417 I'm so sorry to hear that, it's so heartbreaking. If I was anywhere near your location I'd be out searching too. I only just saw this reply as youtube did not email a notification like they normally do, grrr!
