Legit re watching all the old retro game reviews he made I miss this it feels so nostalgic to watch them again I love what he does now and love the comics but man do I miss watching him review games such a great time takes me back to simpler times
In my opinion this was the best cod game as far as story goes. This game actually got you attached to your squad that when people died it wasn't just like oh damn that sucks but it was more sad and you felt like you were actually part of the squad in the game.
Why don't they take Finest hour, Big Red one and COD 3 clean them up a bit visually and in the audio department and sell them on steam, ps3 and XBLA I would gladly buy these games again so many fond memories with them
***** I didn't mean completely change the audio just up the sample rate and add in some higher res textures AA and stuff like that , seriously this is one of the best WW2 games ever and I would be happy with just a straight up re release too. I still play this game on xbconnect with my friends every now and then, it is really hard to believe this game is nearly 10 years old now...
Same here. I like the fact that you actually stayed with one group and didn't bounce around between the different factions. And when my squad members were killed, I actually felt something. This is still my fave CoD game.
I miss these old games, Im sick and tired of all these new cods, they are getting dumber and dumber by each game, I mean, soon we will get so far into the future that it will be just stupid. Bring back the originals!
this was my st call of duty game. this and call of duty finest hour. I bought both of them for ps2 in a pack, and I loved them, especially this one. 10/10 game. best campaign than any other call of duty.
See this is back when they actually tried to make good Call Of Duty story's. I love the old games but to me at least, the newer ones are just bland and boring.
For the love of GOD, I miss the Garand so much xD The last shooter that used it I played was MOH Airbourne... I want to see more Garands in future games :P
I was 6 when I got this game and it took me about a year to complete. that just shows how fun and entertaining it is, that I can spend so much time on a game. these days I play the new cods for 10 minutes and I get bored. By far my all time most favorite cod and favorite game ever. I rate 10/10 and I hope treyarch brings back ww2 games and makes the campaign long and not 4 hours to complete
I play the missions over and over the campaign is so fun it never gets old, plus it looks great in 480p on my original xbox. I suggest buying the component hd cables for original xbox, it makes a big difference
great review first call of duty i ever played. i had the gamecube version. it used to be my favorite until call of duty 2 and call of duty world at war came out, but it is still fun.
I'm not even a big fan of FPS games, but the bomber mission in this is one of my favorite levels in any video game! I would love for them to make a game that is just flying bombers, but like this where you are constantly having to switch positions with in the plane, not just by hitting a button, but by physically moving your character to that part of the plane. The tank missions in Finest hour were better though, you could control it from first person and climb out the top hatch to use the MG.
I have this game on the original xbox as well. Its pretty good. I think the bomber part looks great. Especially the way the engine metal shines. Look out the window and you will see it. Sun light shining on metal in games is great.
This was the first Call of Duty I played and I fucking loved it! I loved the story and how you ACTUALLY CARED about the soldiers in your squad. BEST CALL OF DUTY BY FAR!
It was my first Call of Duty game too! and as well as i, it was great and so far my favorite in the series. It was a great game to introduce me to the PS2
I used to play the hell out of the multiplayer for this game when I was 7 or 8. I'm thinking about getting it for xbox and was wondering if anyone still played it. My favorite campaign mission was the bomber one. All of my fps skills came from this game. Probably my favorite game tied with Battlefield 3.
Best Call of Duty ever made as far as the campaign goes. I played this game's campaign to death. Best missions are the Italian missions (Operation Husky, Piano Lupo, and Troina). Buy this game. It's worth $60 if you ask me, but you can find it for about 5 to 10 dollars nowdays. Get this game now!
First Call of Duty game I played in full, more or less. Really underrated title, and I've also always felt this game didn't get enough credit for its sound design. Just put on some headphones and listen to it! Everything sounds nice and beefy. IMO the guns were a lot more fun to use than in Call of Duty 3.
about time you reviewed this game. Back in the day you had to use healthpacks to survive and kids didn't own headsets and gamedevelopers cared about about singleplayer instead of graphics and you could buy a complete game for 50$ new. Best online multiplayer experience for me to date and this game is old
this is the best COD game in my opinion because the characters are incredibly likable and you can easily connect to them so you get really attached and then they start getting killed and it really effected me especially at the end
If ya have an official 360 hard drive and the game is compatibile all you have to do is put the game in and it should play. Might download an update for some games.
Ah, this game. I don't even remember buying this game for my xbox, but I popped it into my xbox 360 and found it to be enjoyable, myself. Good summer memories. By the way, Mark Hamill was the narrator?! Jeez, this guy pops up in the craziest places.
My dad was in the 1st Infantry Division as well. :D This game really sucked me into the story line. So I didn't cry, but I was emotionally effected by the deaths of Brooklyn and as you say "dentley". I didn't mind Hawkins getting shot.. Shit I became the squad leader after that. :D
I never knew there was another call of duty 2, or I ever heard of the big red one, I played the original call of duty 2 for the Xbox 360, but not this one, but I’m glad I got it, and it’s fun.
I've had this game for years, and i still think its at least in the top 50 best FPS. better storyline than most games, controls that make sense and realistic AI, (most soldiers of the time were just as stupid as the COD2 enemies). plus, there's just something awesome about chucking a grenade into a room and seeing bodies spray out like popcorn.
Because when Infinity Ward's CoD 2 came out only on the X360 back in 2005 people still wanted a CoD 2 game on the last gen consoles aswell, so Xbox/Ps2/GC gamers got Big Red One by Threyarch.
I reckon Black is one of the best fps last gen! haven't played any of the old call of duty though... i need to try them... :P I was too busy with RPGs back in the Ps2 days
@ww2guy21342 Its still played online last I heard. I have it for the original xbox. I might but the CODs on ps2 so I can see which ones are still active online.
i remember playing this over and over
Legit re watching all the old retro game reviews he made I miss this it feels so nostalgic to watch them again I love what he does now and love the comics but man do I miss watching him review games such a great time takes me back to simpler times
Definitely in the top 5 of COD campaigns to this day. (2023)
In my opinion this was the best cod game as far as story goes. This game actually got you attached to your squad that when people died it wasn't just like oh damn that sucks but it was more sad and you felt like you were actually part of the squad in the game.
Why don't they take Finest hour, Big Red one and COD 3 clean them up a bit visually and in the audio department and sell them on steam, ps3 and XBLA I would gladly buy these games again so many fond memories with them
The audio for these games are still great today, why change it? However i would like to see a re-release on steam with no changes to anything.
better graphics would make the memories come back better than ever but no replacing audio that would ruin the classic feel
***** I didn't mean completely change the audio just up the sample rate and add in some higher res textures AA and stuff like that , seriously this is one of the best WW2 games ever and I would be happy with just a straight up re release too. I still play this game on xbconnect with my friends every now and then, it is really hard to believe this game is nearly 10 years old now...
iamuriah ok
Back when games were all about single player, the campaign will take you at least some days to beat. Now it takes you hardly 3 hours -.-
I played this game to death on my GameCube. Good times.
I’d almost argue the story is better than some of the newer call of duty’s honestly.
Love finding old comments from popular UA-camrs lol
Still the best Call of Duty.
I cried when Bloomfield died :(
Same here. I like the fact that you actually stayed with one group and didn't bounce around between the different factions. And when my squad members were killed, I actually felt something. This is still my fave CoD game.
0:34 also before call of duty 2, this game was developed by treyarch before cod2 was finished by infinity ward
one of the best COD's ever
I miss these old games, Im sick and tired of all these new cods, they are getting dumber and dumber by each game, I mean, soon we will get so far into the future that it will be just stupid. Bring back the originals!
Agent X cough cough* infinite shitfare
This was my first call of duty game
Same and still my favorite story
Same here.
me 3
this was my second, the first being finest hour which i enjoyed a lot, but this one was my favorite out of every single one them, period.
Daniel Monge Finest Hour was my second
Ah, I loved this game when I was in my young teens...
I remember killing my team mates for ammo in this game 😂
An effective strategy in hard mode.
this was my st call of duty game. this and call of duty finest hour. I bought both of them for ps2 in a pack, and I loved them, especially this one. 10/10 game. best campaign than any other call of duty.
See this is back when they actually tried to make good Call Of Duty story's. I love the old games but to me at least, the newer ones are just bland and boring.
This game was the true epitome of "Story over everything else"
For the love of GOD, I miss the Garand so much xD
The last shooter that used it I played was MOH Airbourne...
@xygemick never mind then but why did you get it for ps2 specifically?
I play the missions over and over the campaign is so fun it never gets old, plus it looks great in 480p on my original xbox. I suggest buying the component hd cables for original xbox, it makes a big difference
@ps3pitos - Until the next one gets released right? COD: Modern Black Ops Warfare....6
man this game was my first one for Ps2,fps,and cod game. truly a great work of art and underrated
Can you play this on Xbox live? Through the 360?
Guys remember brothers in arms and brothers in arms earned in blood? 2 great games as well
great review first call of duty i ever played. i had the gamecube version. it used to be my favorite until call of duty 2 and call of duty world at war came out, but it is still fun.
This was the first FPS I ever owned. Thanks for reviewing this!
my first and favorite COD game. Basically every COD game after COD 3 is good not awesome, except for WAW.
I agree but I still love the MW series.
+John Lynch the 3rd was so shit :(
+Felizx Jésús it was definitely the worst in the MW series but was still good.
+Toad139 I love MW a lot and WAW
Where can you get it from in England
I bought the collectors edition of this for the PS2 for $10, such a bargain! :)
COD 2 big red one was actually one of the first game I ever owned. I absolutely loved it, still do.
Are we finally going to see you play some COD black ops multiplayer. Would love to see a full game played by you.
Where i can download the game for xbox classic?
I'm not even a big fan of FPS games, but the bomber mission in this is one of my favorite levels in any video game! This was a great game, it even had the voices from band of brothers as you squad.
One of my favorites
whats the diffrence between this one and call of duty 2?
Seriously my favorite CoD ever. First one I ever played and loved it. Was so sad when Brooklyn died
hey did anyone notice that if you click in the classic game room logo at its homepage it brings you here???
Think this was the first cod i played on the ps2,Great review.
witch one is better this one or cod 2?
Great review Mark, CoD2: BRO is definitely an overlooked classic.
@cruchotadi its in bad comany 2 but you have to have played 2 battlefield games to use it on the online
i still dont understand the title. was that the name of the wars or somethin
It's crazy looking back at these games. I remember when the graphics were amazing for the day. Still a great game though! Great review too!
GRHD CODBigRedOne ?
manning turret guns was always the highlight of these older FPS's.
I have this game on the original xbox as well. Its pretty good. I think the bomber part looks great. Especially the way the engine metal shines. Look out the window and you will see it. Sun light shining on metal in games is great.
@novaleafy
But you can reload the M1 with a full clip.
This was the sequel of Call of Duty: Finest Hour. Call of Duty for PS2/XBox
can you get the game on xbox360 yes or no
I keep my ps2 just to play this game!
wow, the visual effects in this old game are really good for original Xbox!
This was the first Call of Duty I played and I fucking loved it! I loved the story and how you ACTUALLY CARED about the soldiers in your squad. BEST CALL OF DUTY BY FAR!
I remember i always had trouble on the AA section in the italy mission when i was a kid
Played this game. Super fun, but hard to control tanks on xbox version because analogs are not next to eachother
@cruchotadi I think a Garand is available to use in Battlefield:Bad Company 2...mabye even Battlefield:Bad Company 2 Vietnam
@thedoctorsassistant1 you can buy for the original xbox and play it on the 360
Best Call of Duty ever made as far as the campaign goes. I played this game's campaign to death. Best missions are the Italian missions (Operation Husky, Piano Lupo, and Troina). Buy this game. It's worth $60 if you ask me, but you can find it for about 5 to 10 dollars nowdays. Get this game now!

How to play on 360? :)
If ya have an official 360 hard drive and the game is compatibile all you have to do is put the game in and it should play. Might download an update for some games.
+yodagamer1 Thanks a lot
still to this day my absolute favorite call of duty
@sonigokuu Becuase its for the 360, not original xbox.
I played this game whole childhood and never knew luke Skywalker narrates the history channel footage
big red one was the game that got me hooked on cod
@Fleury292929 no, the video title was DCGR BIG RED ONE or something at the beginning
Ah, this game. I don't even remember buying this game for my xbox, but I popped it into my xbox 360 and found it to be enjoyable, myself. Good summer memories.
By the way, Mark Hamill was the narrator?! Jeez, this guy pops up in the craziest places.
@ResurrectedTemplar I'm...guessing you never played it have you?
you should definitely review finest hour for the ps2
I gotta try this one again. Been a while.
ah.. i remember on i used to have this on my old xbox. with Halo 1 and 2, Gun, Call of duty 3. back in the good ol days..
My dad was in the 1st Infantry Division as well. :D
This game really sucked me into the story line. So I didn't cry, but I was emotionally effected by the deaths of Brooklyn and as you say "dentley". I didn't mind Hawkins getting shot.. Shit I became the squad leader after that. :D
Haha, I remember that mission in the plane. It glitched on me and my kills were starting to go off the screen.
Call of duty 2 is one of my favorite COD game of all time but I have respects for Big red one even I haven't played it yet.
It's been about 7 years since I last played the big red one and I can remember the last mission so clearly it's crazy
I prefer the WWII CODs over the MW ones not just because of the period setting, but also because they're more challenging, including this one!
Is that Joe Swanson in commentary?
can anyone tell me y cant i play this on the 360
I never knew there was another call of duty 2, or I ever heard of the big red one, I played the original call of duty 2 for the Xbox 360, but not this one, but I’m glad I got it, and it’s fun.

OMG that graphics is GREAT!.. It's looks very good!
this was the first call of duty i played and boy did i play this game
Because when Infinity Ward's CoD 2 came out only on the X360 back in 2005 people still wanted a CoD 2 game on the last gen consoles aswell, so Xbox/Ps2/GC gamers got Big Red One by Threyarch.
Is there a way to play call of duty2 big red one on xbox one?
As of right now, no. The only thing you can do is to wait and hope that this become playable on the Xbox One in the future.
No you can only play it on xbox360 Xbox GameCube (and wii but why) as well as certain ps3 models and the ps2
I freaking love this game so much it was my first call of duty game
I think they should remake this game for the modern consoles. It was my favorite one. and I think it'd look great on a 360.
This definitely is one of my more favorite games and i played the hell out of it, although i could NEVER get past the mission in Sicily.
have it. played it. beat it. LOVE IT. it is one of the best to come out of the Call of Duty franchise if not the best.
you should review call of duty roads to victory for psp.
lol i know it is but the mystery box is the same thing just with 2 ?'s
I have COD 2 and Big red one collectors editions and had them since it came out
This game is awesome man, i played it all the time when it came out
Note: GC version has that star thing on the tanks.
