That was such a lovely process to watch … and so satisfying. Your talent is breathtaking to me and your attention to detail makes my heart happy. I so enjoy your videos, Nik. Thank you so much for sharing.
Old guy here and a wannabe "booksmithie" too! :) Love your artistry and wit. I taught myself to knit and spin wool, so I'm all primed up to learn this awesome craft. Thx!
The process was just so interesting and I can see where I keep messing up. Beautiful work as always and beautiful materials, I wish I could get some of those papers♡
Nik, that book is on Amazon for over $350. That’s not the only version or copy - just one of them!!! You were VERY lucky to find it so cheaply!!! 💖💖💖. PS. Love your chosen music!!! 💖💖💖
You have worked hard to master your desired skill set. In my very humble opinion, the easier a person makes something look, the more skilled is the individual. You made me think, yeah... I could so do that. Lol, the only one who believes that is me. (I know better. You are truly a master of book smithing!) As a retired maths teacher, I know that in order to present your material in an easy to follow format, one that has boiled it all down to one concept at a time... you must know your material inside out. You must know it well and then you must have practiced it countless times one on one with a struggling student. I got that practice tutoring struggling students. Then you know where most of the mistakes will occur, why and how to avoid them. You build the confidence of your students so they feel like they honestly have a chance doing it on their own. I have watched many, many of your videos. You have done all of these steps. Thank you Nik. You have a broad range of skills and interests. This old bird is going to follow one of your series and make a lap book this January and February. You have me convinced that just maybe I can make a beautiful book, nice enough to use as a gift for a friend. Thank you so much. You are also a fantastic teacher / tutor / mentor / & true crime enthusist.
Nice touch inlaying the title block. I am a huge fan of covered bricks as weights. Mine, though, are covered in reused kraft paper I get in packages as filler. My 1, 2, 3 blocks are also covered. That is because I work with leather and the metal edges might scratch the leather. (1, 2, 3 blocks are used as weights for keeping patterns still) Thanks for the video. Enjoyed it immensely. (as usual)
It’s funny, I see people open a new/used book and complain about the end pages being glued to the first piece of paper. I just shake my head realizing that they have no idea how a book is bound lol. No shade to them just find it funny. I love these kind of videos, not only is the music a nice touch but actually seeing your process is fascinating. Thanks for doing what you ♥️
Thank you for this video. What a transformation you brought about. It is always a pleasure to watch a skilled craftsman at work. My father’s passion was making violins in his spare time, so I have been brought up watching meticulous processes being wrought on materials to transform simple elements into beautiful, exquisitely turned treasures.
I'm pretty new to your channel so I hadn't seen you do this. Not sure if it was the soothing sounds and/or the captivating movements of this process, but it worked for me; it had me entranced. It chilled me out... time for sleep, (Not to say that it put me to sleep)! Thanks for sharing your work.
You amaze me. You are talented mechanically to get all the pieces to work and you have a fantastic sense of the aesthetic in your design work. Thank you for sharing your talents with us!
Your perfectionism was hanging out all over the cover of this absolutely stunning book cover. You amaze me Nik. Not only are YOU stunning but you are brilliant and so full of wonderful info on book making but you are hilarious too. Hugs
That was absolutely brilliant, Nik! Just when I thought you couldn't do any more, you go and add the title in the way you did. I am in awe of your skill set, Nik! Thankyou so very much for expanding mine. Veronica x P.S. Happy New Year to you and your family. I hope everyone is well?!
There's just something so beautiful about this -- I can't even explain it -- it just reminds me that wonderful things can happen with human beings. It made me feel so happy to see it. Thank you for the best holiday present....
thanks for sharing! love the result! so much more happier! i just wanted to say, that the artglitter is higly toxic - i would not touch it without gloves or even inhale it.
Wow! That’s absolutely incredible! That book went from mediocre to gorgeous! You are a real artist. I hope I can learn more of these bookmaking & binding techniques! Thank you for sharing your love of all things book with us!
I might as well have been watching that shoveling in handfuls of popcorn like they show when people watch action movies, I was totally glued to the screen, practically with my face on the screen. Love watching the repair...BRILLIANT!!
Gosh, Nik, you'd think you'd done this book binding thing a time or three!😉 Your process is flawless and mesmerizing! This is one gorgeous book! Congratulations on the find and the addition of this wondrous edition.❤❤❤
OMG Nik! That is one of the most beautiful videos you have made. I am in awe of your talent. Your attention to detail is incredible. Your results are breathtaking. I love watching and learning from you but this just topped everything for me. For the love of books. Thank you so much Nik for your amazing talent and sharing your incredible craft.
I have that same book and was sad that I couldn’t afford the hardback. This is a beautiful rebinding and would be a book anyone would love to have on their bookshelf or laying on a table. Thanks for sharing this process with us-I found it fascinating! Hoping you’re having a happy start to the New Year. ❤️
Hi Nik, I have learned so much from you, thank you very much. I have seen others show how the double stick tape eventually bleeds through the fabric. Are you using a special brand that will not do that over time?
I am in awe of your talent. I started watching your videos in early January 2022 and I've made two lapbooks and and I'm on my third Journal. Thank you so much. You have no idea the sleeping Giant that you have reawakened in me.
You really are the master booksmith Nik 💕💫💕 magicalcto see you do it. Seems soooo easy when you do it, though it takes a lot of practice. Those thin gold strips, they make such a difference. Thanks Nik for sharing
Miss Nik, you made that even nicer than it was! What kind of super double sticky tape did you use on that! I was kind of surprised to see it! AND what a COOL book. I may need to go find it now!
Hi Deb! I buy it on Amazon, its a life saver! There's a link to my faves list under the video, it should be listed there if you'd like to check it out. =)

GORGEOUS!!! Love the pops of gold. ;-) And the zen music juxtaposed against the speediness of your creating. AWESOME!
I love that wood press. I came to your stuff looking to make myself a high quality press, or as I’ve learned, a nipping press. This one is cool too.

You father made violins?? As a hobby??? Now, THAT is true talent. What a lucky kid you were to be able to watch him craft. =)
