Interesting! I have an M7060 (2015 also) and L4400 (2009) Kubota that I use in my mowing business. I make more with the L4400 than with the 7060. I cut more urban lots (5 acres or less) with it, cheaper to run, lighter to haul and lighter footprint on the ground. In our area there are many 5 acre or less lots/fields to be maintained. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.

I had a Ford 3600 before and your correct , it was super dependable and barely used any diesel. I wish I still had it.
I worked it commercially for 4 years with 1 break down, a power steering hose leak. it was wonderful.

They just don’t make tractors like that anymore. The 70’s and 80’s tractors were built top notch! Thanks

and also something to think about the small cattle farmers with only maybe 30 or 40 cows you can do all your hay with just a 135 or a 3000 ford. both of those tractors will pull a drum mower and a small 530 hesston round baler. and then you can feed hay all winter with the same tractor and bushhog and spray do every chore you need to do with that size of tractor

Your exactly right! My uncle cut, raked, and baled 12,000 square bales of hay one year with only a Massey Ferguson 135.

I can’t remember what I guessed, but I’m certain I took a shotgun approach lol. I completely agree on the old tractors vs the new. I also agree with the models you mentioned, too.
Gas tractors are cheap right now as, like you, every one wants a diesel - as longevity and fuel consumption is quite different between the two.
I’ve been looking for an older Ford or MF down south where I come from in Missouri (because in the hills where I am now they don’t use the 2WD tractors much). I’m not having much success.
When I grew up, the fields were full of A & B John Deere, H & M Farmall, and some older WC & WD Allis Chalmer. The thought was then, you could own 3 or 4 of them for the price of a JD 4020 or IH 1086...and if one broke down, you just hopped on another; whereas if all you could afford was one of the new models, when it went down you were done, period.
Power and convenience of operation, however, began to render the old obsolete. Cabs were the final blow to the old iron.
I miss waking up to the sound of Poppin’ Johnnies in the field. Those days are long gone.
By the way, the first tractor I ever owned was an A John Deere.

Thanks Mark for sharing this. We didn’t have many Deere’s in our area growing up. Mostly Massey and Ford. Dad and one neighbor had a John Deere. Appreciate you watching!

Before front in loader’s those boom poles were the way to go. I like older stuff vs new. i’m getting into clearing land I run/own excavators and dozers. The new stuff has so many computers on it something goes wrong you have to call Cat out to fix it. the old stuff I can fix it myself lol.

I thought I guessed Farmtrac or MF 135 due to initial cost and length of ownership but I don't remember. Great video! Thanks for explaining. I think MF is trying to lean on their roots with some new designs, so I'm hoping the 2607H ends up being a real winner.

It’s hard to beat masseys and fords in economy. The 135’s masseys and 3000 Fords were the go to tobacco patch tractors. The 200,300, and 4200 series tractors were by far the best tractors Massey ever built.

I understand your comparison but you have to normalize the cost of the tractors for a true comparison. I.e take the price of the farmtrac in 2015 for a true comparison.

    • @khtractors
      @khtractors  3 роки тому

I wasn’t necessarily comparing anything. Just explaining the facts. I had done a survey asking people which they thought was the most profitable and this was my answer. I’ve had the Farmtrac for 11 years longer so of course it’s been more profitable for that reason alone.
