I flew my own floatplane for my BC business. Just learned enough to have enormous respect for Arnie’s life ! Always remember the Dam busting episode. I to cried when I heard the news of his passing . To his family, Arnie is remembered as a classic gentleman. 🇨🇦🙏❤️
Rest in peace Arnie Schreder, Jimmy Essery and Kelly Jurasevich, you will forever be missed and your contributions to the aviation industry will forever be cherished in our hearts.
Those valve covers at 31:21 sure brought back bad memories of my time with Teledyne Continental Castings. We made a lot of those things along with cylinder sleeves, etc. I still have some nasty scars from being burned by molten aluminum being sprayed on me. I drove out to the old plant a couple of years back and it really felt good to see it all shut down and boarded up. Nobody else will have to suffer from working out there!
Love the segment about Arnie and the engine swap in KNE. My father owned that airplane from about 1966 until he died in 1974. I got my seaplane rating in KNE and logged about 150 hours. I know this footage is about 10 years old but it still brings back old memories. Sure would like to know how KNE spent the intervening years. Thanks for posting!
I don't know if you know this, but if you want the answers, Mikey McBryan has a YT channel here and have been doing Plane Savers. Shoot him a piece of contact and he may give you what you seek.
I was Captain on the other ex Newfoundland 215. The summer of 2011 was an active fire year across the country but especially in Alberta. The devastation that Slave Lake experienced was a precursor to what would happen in Fort McMurray 5 years later. My seat mate on the West Jet flight home to Ontario was the great Peter Lougheed former Premier of Alberta. I remember saying to him. If you live in the boreal forest you should not be planning a “what if scenario “ for forest fires but what should you be planning for “when” the fire comes. Fire is a natural part of the ecology of a boreal forest, it is how it renews itself and regulates pests and old growth.
Joe is right about time. I constantly tell young people to live their young lives to the fullest, because that period seems so fleeting when you get older, and you can't get those years back for a do over.
As a Canadian I've lived all my life with the understanding of how huge our country is. Imagine being from England or Scotland and seeing the vast Canadian landscape for the first time. The US has 300+ million people living within their country we have just under 40 million. In Canada so much is just wide open spaces, forest & prairie. How can you not love the people of Buffalo Airways part of the adventure that comes with serving Canada? I'm totally annoyed with CBC, CTV and Global that one won't do an adventure show with these folks. They must be blind, def and dumb. Do they float around in their ethereal world unaware of what is the real Canada??? I guess so.
We are not overpopulated either. It’s a lie. The mismanagement of resources, destruction of new technologies to keep control of humanity and greed by the 1% are the problem. The truth will come out. Everything we think we know is a lie. I loved my travels in Canada. Beautiful people, gorgeous scenery and fond memories. This is a very interesting show. R.I.P. Arnie, Kelly and Jimmy. Gone never forgotten! ❤️
Arnie was a special guy, a true gentleman. Kelley was the jewel in the crown, one very very special lady. Buffalo have been fortunate to have had such wonderful people in their team.
I had nothing to do one day , so I drovd up to Yellowknife , so Buffalo's hanger and a row of planes right beside the highway . Boy , was I impressed . In person you get to see just how big their operation is , wow . and everything was so neat and tidy . that alone was worth the trip . Yellowknife is a very pretty little city . Just make sure you bring a credit card if you need a place to stay , seem the firefighters and miners have a habit of trashing rooms , so cash won't get you a room lol
Awesome video!!! RIP Arnie. Hi to Joe, Mikey and all the gang at Buffalo. Joe in Maine, where there are a lot of trees, moose and water including Maine's largest lake Moosehead Lake in Greenville, Maine.
27:49 "When you climb into that airplane and just the smell and sound of it takes you back to an era where your life was very simple, you didn't have all the challenges that they manufacture today"
"Airplanes have a good way of hiding demons" Boy that's the truth.. Everything can pan out, look great. All the numbers are green, and the smallest thing you didn't see or catch can put it all down.
While I can understand your comment I do not agree with it. For the resources they had it was really well done but there were so many things that didn't match up to how Upkeep worked. He should however receive recognition for his contribution to aviation during his long career with accumulated hours and vast experience and knowledge that was passed along the those who were fortunate to have him as their mentor.
ADVISE FROM A FIGHTER PILOT. FIRST THING TO LEARN IS RELAX! LIKE ALL FLYING YOU HAVE TO ANTICIPATE THE CHANGE IN CG. FLYING IN COMBAT IS THE SAME SITUATION WITH SAM's.
I wish Netflix would reach out to Buffalo Airways and continue the series. I saw the Hercules and DC-3 a few years ago in a remoted island in Alaska and man it was magical.
the big advantage of an amphibian plane is the ability to land and scoop up water quickly for many bombing runs. A smaller version of the Mars but does a good job.
Do not bid in the clear. You created a bidding war. Next time use ESnipe to enter your limit bid in the last 4 to 8 seconds. The $100 bidders would have stopped long before $400,000
Best FIRE FIGHTING Plane is Russian BE 200 (Beriev) with PW turbofan engines. That what the catalog shows. I am not Russian, however this plane is designed for way more versatility alike maritime rescue etc. I wonder which gonna be Buffalo Airways next planes: Maybe Ukrainian Antonov, very durable machines. Some models are produced in Poland alike the PZL M28 Skytruck with PW Canada engines. US Military type C-145.
I'm impressed with Buffalo Air Lines array of oldie but goodie airplanes. Still I don't understand why they don't cut to the chase with a rugged and reliable cargo plane, the C-130. There's over a hundred of them waiting to be flown again at Davis Monthan AFB boneyard in Tucson. I'm sure there's a good reason why Buffalo Airline doesn't have a dozen C-130s parked on their flight Line. Would like to hear it.
Will have to find some dirt and gravel unit to put on the 737 for the gravel strips and dirt strips i know i have that information some where.oh the guy has a bunch if dc 3 and c47 parts in the north west of the usa trying to think of where he was again
I went for my pilot licence in 1979 ended up 13 hours as a student pilot hearing New Zealand trade in Wellington airport but I think I was too old by then I was in my 30s have to start at young age 17
Your eBay biding strategy is wrong. You don’t actively drive up the price. Instead, don’t bid and wait until the last 10 seconds with a proxy bid high enough that your are willing to pay. And, don’t make it a round number, both dollars and cents.

This is such an old video, laughing at their winning bid of $445,000 USD and the Canadian dollar was worth more at that time its been years ago today that would be $573,000 Canadian wish they had more current videos
RIP Kelly & Arnie & thanks for the memories.
Tomorrow, May 5th 2022 marks 10 years since Arnie passed away, Rest In Peace and fly high.
_Hold onto your hats boys._ 👍
He made me wake up at 4am to watch this, spooky.
My sympathy from the Netherlands for Arnie. I enjoyed his flights very much. Rest in Peace Arnie.
This is one of the greatest TV series ever. Thank you for making it available on UA-cam.
I watched it on history chnl years ago now its on u-tube . What a great show and yes RIP Arnie, Kelly and Jimmy.

Defnitly agree. One of the best programs i watched this year. Sorry to hear Arnie passed on a while back. He is free from pain and suffering.

Yes all the 3 passed, Jimmy and Arnie passed in 2012,Kelly passed in 2017

It is very sad, they were so wonderful…😢
Possibly the best episode. Brought tears to my eyes. And some great flying and really cool airplanes.
I thought same thing. Sums everything up whoever produced and directed this one, is bound for greater things.

Such a good series, really wish it was still going, it really does beat what’s currently on TV
Motorhead, Totally agree, we had it on Foxtel in Australia, great viewing.
I wish that too, but everything good on TV, they shut down 😥
Its on Pluto
I love this series. It demands that you change focus one minute from the marvelous planes to the next minute to the wonderful people.

Really fantastic series!!! :)
Second only to air combat, that has got to be the toughest flying there is. A smokey sky full of mixed aircraft! SHEESH! Bob
Nothing but pure awesomeness in this one!❤
So sorry to see Arnie suffering like that. I sincerely hope he is still doing ok. He is the epitome of a true gentleman.
Hate to say it but to current day he has passed away, these episodes are out of date
Kelly passed away too. Complications from COPD I believe.
