Right, I totally understand. One the good side, Quest 3 should be able to connect to Touch Pro Controllers for the self-tracking controllers you mentioned. On the bad side, Quest 3 still has batteries in the front which makes the headset unbalanced and therefore you'll need to upgrade the headset to add more weight in the back🙁
my biggest concern with quest 3, is that they will put the battery in the front. I hope the quest3 has no internal battery. and that way we can counterbalance just the headset with a battery headstrap (like pico4)
It´s definatly worth to wait for the Quest 3 as it will have modernized and additional hardware which will make the immersion in VR much better ! Also the smaller formfactor will be more comfortable and hopefully the package will contain the same controllers as the Quest Pro model, which are awsome ! I wish a brandnew Quest 3 under my christmas tree this year !!! So Santa don´t fu** it up !

im definitely going to wait for the quest 3. i am a bit disappointed theres no face and eye tracking, but the full colour pass through and the upgraded chip and controller make it worth the wait.
Absolutely! I’m 100% on the same page. Hopefully with Quest 4 or other cheaper vr headsets in the future, there will be a headset that has all of the technology available at the time!
I don't care a damn about passthrough cameras or mixed reality ... just give us better graphics, resolution, framerate, FOV and most importantly ... GAMES!
You'll get the hardware spec bumps but you're right... we NEED more AAA games on VR. All gaming platforms succeed because of games. It is a good thing that a lot of the gaming studios are making a lot of money from VR which is a fuel for other game devs to come join the party!

Hopefully we'll get GTA San Andreas this year, but we also need a COD Warzone and Red Dead Redemption VR and many more if they want VR to become widely adopted. However price will play a bigger role in my opinion, they NEED to keep the price low, cheaper than what consoles go for to make up for the lesser amount of games. AR games should add some different content if VR get's boring, so I welcome the addition. AR could be neat to play games and watch 3D movies with friends and family. AR will also attract more people to buy the headset who may not be gamers, but just want to watch a movie or play a board game with their family.
It seems that the ideal vr system would be this: Headset: stand alone (depending on who you ask), small, doesn't wear like goggles because people value their ears, comfy enough to lay down in, face and eye tracking, full color/depth pass-through, long lasting battery. With wide fov, high contrast, dark blacks, bright enough,high pixel count, no screen door/mura/godrays/double image effects. For immursibility: a haptics suit that works on the same program as the headset for seemless integration, allows for temperature, impact, and sensitive touch as well as giving the ability to feel weight, trackers for fbt that's accurate, lag-less, and cheap, also uses same program for seemless connections, uses gloves instead of controllers (mabey some buttons on the wrist, arm, or hands) a belt/ backpack/ form factor storage for accessories, wire management, (in the case of backpacks, more processing power), and more For area management: small and compact omnidirectional treadmill (Although I say a gyrosphere or suspended stand would be better) that once again runs on the same software as the headset and stuff, can track positioning and allow maximum freedom of movement, is light and as portable as can be, and stand-alone.
But I don't see any one company coming out with anything like this for another 10 years. There is probably more people want but I don't know off the top of my head. If I forgot something then please let me know.
@theavaitorfilms1046 honestly I think the closest we have to something like I described is HTC. The new vive elite and 5 point self trackers are here. That's 2 out of the 4 things. Headset, trackers, haptic suit, and treadmill. The index is a great headset but yea. It's bulky unlike the bigscreen beyond. It's stuck to a pc unlike quest or Pico. Also it's only the headset. The only treadmills we have are the Kat and omnitread. Only haptics are small like owo or tesla. Or not originally for vr like woojer. Granted the index, psvr2 and quest pro are the only headsets I know that offer eye/facial tracking. And pimax is the "king" of fov and pixel count. But no one company is focusing on a full immersion vr hardware set up. It's all scattered tech. Unlike the Japanese vr game devs. Non of the tech want to make a full immersion set up under one system. There isn't any money in it yet. Full body and haptics is still a niche in a niche.
I think the haptic suits are way more niche than you think, even the treadmills. A majority of the community doesn't even wanna strap on a bulky headset let alone suit up with gloves and suits and then step on a treadmill. It's just to many obstacles to hurddle just to play a simple game. It will likely forever be niche.

If that’s true then it’ll really come down to whether people want to upgrade or not. Right now with everything we know, it feels like a no brained to upgrade
As a quest 2 user for about a year and a guy who mainly uses it for PC VR now all I care about is higher res and larger FOV, also the IPD adjustment looks much better to get the sweet spot now. Everything else is a bonus to me i.e. lighter weight and colour pass through, everything on the quest 2 works for me but more res and FOV will be my main selling points.
The quest pro is great for PCVR. And unlike the 2 or 3 it can also do foveated rendering and will have a new feature coming in v.51 called local dimming to make the screens look more like a OLED
That makes sense and I don't have too many PCVR dedicated user's inputs so thank you for sharing! I'm hoping for a better Wifi support too which will increase the performance of wireless PCVR!

Yeah I mean the quest 2 is great for PCVR, hopefully the 3 brings better FOV and the ipd adjustment is really important to me as I actually have a squint when tired or drunk.... this means I have a really specific prescription for my glasses for the pupillary distance. For me its a cheaper way to PCVR... well it was when it was only £300 when I bought it. The quest 2 combined with a powered link cable is bliss so far, so I'm not really interested in the powerful new snapdragon. I just want better res and better fov. I do find I do need to adjust the IPD when tired and because its not very tweakable (only 3 settings) its difficult to get the best fov without going cross eyed! Also as I have a distance prescription I don't need my glasses while gaming which is a big plus for me and much better than the PSVR 1 I had. Im also not interested in the AR stuff either I just want a good quality gaming experience. Wireless PCVR is a long gone dream for me though as I cant have a 1.5 hour session (if im lucky) of modded Skyrim VR, 2-3 hours min so a powered cable works for me!
Quest 3 is twice powerful but they might only gonna use that for 120fps gaming so game graphic quality might be same as quest 2. I hope they use 90hz and make the game better graphic instead
With a bit of an increase of resolution and computing power, you SHOULD get a better graphic quality in games as along as they can keep it in 120hz display like you said or just have a device that runs better as a 90hz display. The VR game devs need to optimize the games so they can take an advantage of the increased specs!
The only thing making me hesitate is no face/eye tracking. I want a stand-alone headset with all the most advanced pro features, but as a true step up from quest 2
Wireless pcvr with inside out tracking on both the headset and controllers is all I would ever ask for, the quest 2 alr has this but the quest 3 will be lighter with a higher resolution and pancake lenses, and most likely reduced latency through either a software update or new technology.
Yeah this is definitely the biggest let down/bummer of Quest 3. I'm hoping the next cycle of non-pro VR headset has ALL features included plus spec increases.
Absolutely! Just like Quest 2 had everything VR needed for its time (2020) now the Quest 3 has everything people need (Except face/eye tracking) for the modern times!
If you buy the quest 2 from best buy with a 2 year warranty you can trade the headset in when the new one comes out and put the full price of what you paid for the quest 2 towards the quest 3.
Don't forget the Flat/slim compact front visor, Portability, being wireless and Rumoured Ring-less VR Controllers with haptics. I've really been enjoying my PSVR2 so far, Resident Evil 8 Vilage is no doubt the star of the VR show and is worth the admission alone imo. But, i hate the PSVR2's finicky sweet spot(Doesn't use panacake lenses), OLED Mura, the fact that it's tethered and the cumbersome Ring'd controllers are a bit annoying to get on.

I think the only reason why Q3 wouldn’t include face and eye tracking is because it would make the quest Pro utterly useless and out classed in as little as a year by a device aimed at being budget and consumer friendly.

FINALLY someone has a brain lol. It's like no one can think how a business would. They want you in the pro because they obviously get more money. The quest 3 was never allowed to be "too good" for fear of making the pro obsolete. That's also why they won't come with self tracking controllers as Facebook sells them separately so why would they include it in the quest 3 for $500 when they can have you pony up $300 more for them.

As someone who’s never had a vr head set except a google cardboard. Every headset that’s come out has just seem like a blueprint of what people are expecting a vr headset should be there’s obviously some really good ones that I can’t remember but it seems like the quest 3 actually seems like the the foundation of a new era of vr like I don’t know if it’s me but the new ai boom is gonna make gaming and vr explode finally as I’ve head some stuff that ai mixed into vr don’t know if that’s true. But yeah if anyone does see this rant would like to see your opinions and dude love the vid I’ve been trying to do so much research into the quest 3 it’s nice to see a vid showing everything. Just praying in the end it costs 300 that would make this year perfect

Quest 2 had everything people needed at the time of release and I see Quest 3 as being similar in the modern times. For the AI subject, I'm not particularly sure whether the software utilizes AI to perform certain tasks but as Meta being one of the front runners in AI technology, I could see AI playing a big role in the near future for VR. I would rather take the eye tracking feature instead of the upgraded external cameras, i couldn't care less if the external camera is the same as the q2

Ah you're definitely right. You wouldn't be able to plug the charger cable into the USBC port since it would be blocked. Hopefully there will be a workaround as long as the head strap insertion point has the same dimensions!
You definitely could and that would be a viable option as long as you have proper tools to drill a perfect hole. I honestly wouldn't recommend trying to creating a hole without the right tools since we could agree that most people will try to create a hole and end up breaking it haha
I hope / and I would as a real company that wants to be taken seriously wouldn’t drop the quest 3 at all with all the leaks and make an un dated drop for the console
3:49 The Bobovr M2 Pro doesn't inherently cover up this spot on the Quest 2. But the Quest 3 might use a different width or thickness that prevents the accessories from fitting in the first place.

I agree with you. I'm honestly not sure how the regular VR users will react to no face/eye tracking. Even though I don't use face tracking too much, eye tracking actually enhances the typical gaming experience through interactions with your eyes plus foveated rendering!
If you're looking for a gaming headset, Quest 3 would be the best cost to price value and PSVR2 if you have a PS5. But yes... I hope face and eye tracking becomes a standard across ALL headsets in the near future.
Pancake lenses won't reduce the weight that much. They are quite heavy designs, and at best will result in a more condensed device with a moderate weight loss (mostly produced from trimmed plastic in the smaller shell). I'd imagine that this device also won't feature such a high resolution. The newest xr3 processor isn't that much more powerful than the xr2 to justify such a large resolution jump. It will result in upscaling games even more than currently. The passthrough sounds nice? I guess grainy color is better than grainy black and white.
Right, that makes sense about the lenses not reducing the weight but rather the design of the headset allows for weight reduction. I'm going off of the trends qualcomm/meta has posted for their hardware but any double digit performance would be really good as long as they're able to keep replicating the growth as we move forward in development! Quest 3 sound good improvement from Quest 2, but it's still not enough for casual users. Today, VR is good enough only for games, but we still don't have enough AAA games. Second use case i see 3d movies but resolution is to small and headset is not comfortable enough, and of course there is not enough 3D movies. Third one is a work, but for that you need resolution way more than we have now, and Fov at list 120, and headset to be super. But facebook doing all wrong he want casual people to work in VR but they neglecting Geeks, gamers. They should have first please that geeks, who could popularize VR, just have more AAA game and content. when hardware could have been good enough after entering not VR user market

I really hope standalone VR gaming can turnaround and go on a good run. I don't really think about 3D movies too often but having entertainment besides gaming to capitalize through the use of VR is definitely necessary! I also wouldn't mind keeping the Quest line for the casual users and the Pro line for the geeks/enthusiasts/gamers and truly get the "Pro" experience for games and work but I think they've failed to do that...🤷♂️
@@asvr_vr I like to play games sometimes, but it very energy demanding and i don't have that much energy after work. I would prefer to relax and watch something and even flat movies is fun in vr. Immersion of you been somewhere else and watching movie is great, but headset is to uncomfortable and resolution with lenses is bad. My main focus getting VR was because of work, I am working and don't have my place and free time i code and i need multi monitor set up. I thought virtual one will work, but it's not great at all. Today I see VR as for games in which I don't have enough time
It's either this or Bigscreen Beyond +base stations +index controllers... I'd prefer the better micro OLED display and I do PCVR exclusively. I just don't want to buy base stations and Index controllers!
The latter option will cost you so much! The BB + accessories will be much better than Quest 3 but it’s just the price of everything. I like Quest 3 since you’ll get most features with decent specs for $500 (or less) + accessories 🤷♂️

You could be right. The only factual thing about the depth sensor is that the spot to include is there but just like you said, they could take it out last minute just like Meta did with Quest Pro.
I already have Quest 2, bought a bobovr m1 headstrap with batteries, a carrying bag and a stand, I'll buy everything again when Quest 3 comes out, I already have the money saved up, just waiting for the Zuck to give me the signal to throw it at my screen
Hahaha you're more prepared than most! I didn't talk about the carrying bag which is another topic that's important. Since the headset is slimmer, I'm hoping that we can still use the same carrying bag we've used for Quest 2!
I hope it's good I liked the qwest 2 but I couldn't get all I wanted from a vr headset but it was pretty good. But I'm about to start saving up for it so I won't have to worry about price. I'm hoping it's at least 500 or less though 😭

They just killed the Pro sales. Maybe even the 2. September - October. Of course. They need the Xmas boost for new electronics. Plus it boosts annual earnings; and the shareholders will be waiting for the numbers

I don't think that's totally out of the question. For me, at this point, Meta and Mark Zuck has stated multiple times that Quest 3 will be released in 2023 so that'll be a really bad look on them if they don't come through!
Okay, now what I'm wondering is if I can have a Quest 2 and 3 and be able to run them at the same time on the same account. Unlike having 2 Switches. I regret buying a second Switch because only the main account can use the second Switch and I bought it so my wife and kids could use them and none of them are the primary account.
I'm not totally sure but it gives me a lot of trouble if I use the same account on my Quest 2 and Pro. I would recommend creating a separate account under the same headset since the secondary account will be able to play all of the games you bought/downloaded on the primary account for free. They just can't access the DLCs unless they buy the game + DLC.
Cool update! From what I heard about the other headsets like Pico 4, Valve Index, Vive Elite XR, Quest Pro, and Big screen Beyond. I’m actually excited for Quest 3! 🤩
I do like the new headsets coming out and each headset has its strong points. I’m just a big fan of Quest 3 as a general go-to headset due to the availability to the everyday users!
That would be pretty convenient so you can get a cheaper headset since you’re not paying for the controllers. I could see them doing that since touch pro controllers are sold separately now but my guess would be that they won’t do that🤷♂️

I bet you'll be able to at a higher quality than Quest 2. I know Quest Pro included Wi-Fi upgrades from Quest 2 so hopefully Quest 3 includes the same features or even upgrade to a newer technology for Wi-Fi to improve virtual desktop experience!
So with Mark Zuck saying it’s gonna be more than Quest 2, I’m assuming that means more than $400. Right now there’s a Quest 2 sale at $350 so not sure if that has any part of it to potentially price the Quest 3 at $400🤷♂️

i may be wrong but with the new snap dragon dhip and the quest 3 making use of its full potential it should be able to run ps4 games but that could be completely false
If this is true, this will be a MAJOR leap in performance for VR. PS4 games were really good with graphics compared to standalone VR games so that’ll be really cool! Also, this opens up a PS4 emulator to run PS4 games if such thing even exists🤷♂️
You definitely could do that as long as the dimensions are the same for the hinge! I just feel like a lot of people won’t use a proper tool that end up trying to do this haha

@@asvr_vr mainly performance. If it has any issues or maybe problems. I would then know a majority of them will be fixed within the year. So when I finally do purchase it. It will have latest updates and not so many bugs or issues from when it was first released.

we don't need face tracking, only eye tracking. THIS alone is seriously a bottleneck to making standalone VR with good performance. Even on PCVR. Why would you not add eye tracking. It adds essentially free performance without you noticing the downside

Absolutely! If they do come out with the 512GB option, the storage might be a little too much but as game studios release more AAA games with larger file sizes, the 512GB storage will definitely come in handy!!

I think at this point in development, they'll probably stick with LCD. Last I've heard was they're testing 1LCD or 2LCD. I think it's there way of keeping the cost down as much as possible to get the headset out to as many people as possible.
So the Quest 2 has 1 large LCD screen that covers the right side and the left side. 2 LCD brings a LCD screen just for the right side (eye) and another one for left side (eye).
Well when you eventually get the Quest 3, it should feel like a huge upgrade. The only VR headset I tried and returned was the Oculus Go. There were many things I didn't like about the Go, but the main things were lack of content, bad FOV, and the screen door effect. I hope these things are a thing of the past when I get the Quest 3.
Honestly what i mostly want is the Quest 3 to have face and Eye tracking and pancake lenses with 0 issues plus Virtual Desktop along with Wifi 6e and good enough comfort plus a battery that lasts alot more then 2 hours thats really all i want but i dont really see much of a reason to get a Quest 3 if you already have a Quest 2 i mean sure better performance and pancake lenses but thats all its majorly got going for it unless it can support wifi 6e but even still thats still not much of an incentive to get one. Now maybe im being abit critical but what i would like to see still hasnt happened yet. I intend to have full body tracking for VRChat and eye tracking + Face Tracking all for the realism and immersion plus social factor i mean everyones different but i cant help but feel disappointed by Meta and the Quest 3.
I completely understand what you’re getting at. If you want the full immersion, Quest 3 is just too cheap to include everything. Obviously with added technology/immersion, the cost increases so I think the PCVR dedicated headsets are probably a better fit for you or even the Quest pro with a portable charger to add battery life. It also helps that there are increased number of companies creating their version of full body tracker so the consumers can pick and chose the right product for them!
I don't see too much for face tracking either. Just a little boost in communication in social games I feel like. I do like eye tracking though. Foveated rendering is what the future is heading towards and playing games like Horizon Call of the Mountain, I really enjoyed what they did with eye tracking!

This is ABSOLUTELY true and I agree 100%. The hardware is clearly evolving in front of our eyes but the software and games is where VR is still lacking. The good thing is, the better the specs of a headset, the more game developers able to make a better game in terms of performance and graphics!

I don't care a damn about passthrough cameras or mixed reality ... just give us better graphics, resolution, framerate, FOV and most importantly ... GAMES!
You'll get the hardware spec bumps but you're right... we NEED more AAA games on VR. All gaming platforms succeed because of games. It is a good thing that a lot of the gaming studios are making a lot of money from VR which is a fuel for other game devs to come join the party!
@@asvr_vr I haven't turned my Meta Quest 2 on in over 2 months ...there are no good games for it. The best game on it is nearly 20 years old (resident Evil 4) .. that's bloody ridiculous

Hopefully we'll get GTA San Andreas this year, but we also need a COD Warzone and Red Dead Redemption VR and many more if they want VR to become widely adopted. However price will play a bigger role in my opinion, they NEED to keep the price low, cheaper than what consoles go for to make up for the lesser amount of games.
AR games should add some different content if VR get's boring, so I welcome the addition. AR could be neat to play games and watch 3D movies with friends and family. AR will also attract more people to buy the headset who may not be gamers, but just want to watch a movie or play a board game with their family.
It seems that the ideal vr system would be this:
Headset: stand alone (depending on who you ask), small, doesn't wear like goggles because people value their ears, comfy enough to lay down in, face and eye tracking, full color/depth pass-through, long lasting battery. With wide fov, high contrast, dark blacks, bright enough,high pixel count, no screen door/mura/godrays/double image effects.
For immursibility: a haptics suit that works on the same program as the headset for seemless integration, allows for temperature, impact, and sensitive touch as well as giving the ability to feel weight, trackers for fbt that's accurate, lag-less, and cheap, also uses same program for seemless connections, uses gloves instead of controllers (mabey some buttons on the wrist, arm, or hands) a belt/ backpack/ form factor storage for accessories, wire management, (in the case of backpacks, more processing power), and more
For area management: small and compact omnidirectional treadmill (Although I say a gyrosphere or suspended stand would be better) that once again runs on the same software as the headset and stuff, can track positioning and allow maximum freedom of movement, is light and as portable as can be, and stand-alone.
But I don't see any one company coming out with anything like this for another 10 years. There is probably more people want but I don't know off the top of my head. If I forgot something then please let me know.

@theavaitorfilms1046 honestly I think the closest we have to something like I described is HTC. The new vive elite and 5 point self trackers are here. That's 2 out of the 4 things. Headset, trackers, haptic suit, and treadmill. The index is a great headset but yea. It's bulky unlike the bigscreen beyond. It's stuck to a pc unlike quest or Pico. Also it's only the headset. The only treadmills we have are the Kat and omnitread. Only haptics are small like owo or tesla. Or not originally for vr like woojer.
Granted the index, psvr2 and quest pro are the only headsets I know that offer eye/facial tracking. And pimax is the "king" of fov and pixel count. But no one company is focusing on a full immersion vr hardware set up. It's all scattered tech. Unlike the Japanese vr game devs. Non of the tech want to make a full immersion set up under one system. There isn't any money in it yet. Full body and haptics is still a niche in a niche.
I think the haptic suits are way more niche than you think, even the treadmills. A majority of the community doesn't even wanna strap on a bulky headset let alone suit up with gloves and suits and then step on a treadmill. It's just to many obstacles to hurddle just to play a simple game. It will likely forever be niche.

How fucked up would it be if the Q3 was just barely more powerful but it's main selling point is how slim it is for the price..
If that’s true then it’ll really come down to whether people want to upgrade or not. Right now with everything we know, it feels like a no brained to upgrade
As a quest 2 user for about a year and a guy who mainly uses it for PC VR now all I care about is higher res and larger FOV, also the IPD adjustment looks much better to get the sweet spot now. Everything else is a bonus to me i.e. lighter weight and colour pass through, everything on the quest 2 works for me but more res and FOV will be my main selling points.
The quest pro is great for PCVR.
And unlike the 2 or 3 it can also do foveated rendering and will have a new feature coming in v.51 called local dimming to make the screens look more like a OLED
That makes sense and I don't have too many PCVR dedicated user's inputs so thank you for sharing! I'm hoping for a better Wifi support too which will increase the performance of wireless PCVR!

Yeah I mean the quest 2 is great for PCVR, hopefully the 3 brings better FOV and the ipd adjustment is really important to me as I actually have a squint when tired or drunk.... this means I have a really specific prescription for my glasses for the pupillary distance. For me its a cheaper way to PCVR... well it was when it was only £300 when I bought it. The quest 2 combined with a powered link cable is bliss so far, so I'm not really interested in the powerful new snapdragon. I just want better res and better fov. I do find I do need to adjust the IPD when tired and because its not very tweakable (only 3 settings) its difficult to get the best fov without going cross eyed! Also as I have a distance prescription I don't need my glasses while gaming which is a big plus for me and much better than the PSVR 1 I had. Im also not interested in the AR stuff either I just want a good quality gaming experience. Wireless PCVR is a long gone dream for me though as I cant have a 1.5 hour session (if im lucky) of modded Skyrim VR, 2-3 hours min so a powered cable works for me!
Quest 3 is twice powerful but they might only gonna use that for 120fps gaming so game graphic quality might be same as quest 2. I hope they use 90hz and make the game better graphic instead
With a bit of an increase of resolution and computing power, you SHOULD get a better graphic quality in games as along as they can keep it in 120hz display like you said or just have a device that runs better as a 90hz display. The VR game devs need to optimize the games so they can take an advantage of the increased specs!
imho they should take a clue from pc gaming and add different presets, like 90hz prefer quality vs 120hz prefer performance

The only thing making me hesitate is no face/eye tracking. I want a stand-alone headset with all the most advanced pro features, but as a true step up from quest 2
Wireless pcvr with inside out tracking on both the headset and controllers is all I would ever ask for, the quest 2 alr has this but the quest 3 will be lighter with a higher resolution and pancake lenses, and most likely reduced latency through either a software update or new technology.
Yeah this is definitely the biggest let down/bummer of Quest 3. I'm hoping the next cycle of non-pro VR headset has ALL features included plus spec increases.

Absolutely! Just like Quest 2 had everything VR needed for its time (2020) now the Quest 3 has everything people need (Except face/eye tracking) for the modern times!
If you buy the quest 2 from best buy with a 2 year warranty you can trade the headset in when the new one comes out and put the full price of what you paid for the quest 2 towards the quest 3.
Don't forget the Flat/slim compact front visor, Portability, being wireless and Rumoured Ring-less VR Controllers with haptics. I've really been enjoying my PSVR2 so far, Resident Evil 8 Vilage is no doubt the star of the VR show and is worth the admission alone imo.
But, i hate the PSVR2's finicky sweet spot(Doesn't use panacake lenses), OLED Mura, the fact that it's tethered and the cumbersome Ring'd controllers are a bit annoying to get on.

I think the only reason why Q3 wouldn’t include face and eye tracking is because it would make the quest Pro utterly useless and out classed in as little as a year by a device aimed at being budget and consumer friendly.

They want you in the pro because they obviously get more money. The quest 3 was never allowed to be "too good" for fear of making the pro obsolete.
That's also why they won't come with self tracking controllers as Facebook sells them separately so why would they include it in the quest 3 for $500 when they can have you pony up $300 more for them.

As someone who’s never had a vr head set except a google cardboard. Every headset that’s come out has just seem like a blueprint of what people are expecting a vr headset should be there’s obviously some really good ones that I can’t remember but it seems like the quest 3 actually seems like the the foundation of a new era of vr like I don’t know if it’s me but the new ai boom is gonna make gaming and vr explode finally as I’ve head some stuff that ai mixed into vr don’t know if that’s true. But yeah if anyone does see this rant would like to see your opinions and dude love the vid I’ve been trying to do so much research into the quest 3 it’s nice to see a vid showing everything. Just praying in the end it costs 300 that would make this year perfect

Quest 2 had everything people needed at the time of release and I see Quest 3 as being similar in the modern times. For the AI subject, I'm not particularly sure whether the software utilizes AI to perform certain tasks but as Meta being one of the front runners in AI technology, I could see AI playing a big role in the near future for VR. Ah you're definitely right. You wouldn't be able to plug the charger cable into the USBC port since it would be blocked. Hopefully there will be a workaround as long as the head strap insertion point has the same dimensions!
You definitely could and that would be a viable option as long as you have proper tools to drill a perfect hole. I honestly wouldn't recommend trying to creating a hole without the right tools since we could agree that most people will try to create a hole and end up breaking it haha

But the Quest 3 might use a different width or thickness that prevents the accessories from fitting in the first place.

I agree with you. I'm honestly not sure how the regular VR users will react to no face/eye tracking. Even though I don't use face tracking too much, eye tracking actually enhances the typical gaming experience through interactions with your eyes plus foveated rendering!

If you're looking for a gaming headset, Quest 3 would be the best cost to price value and PSVR2 if you have a PS5. But yes... I hope face and eye tracking becomes a standard across ALL headsets in the near future.

Pancake lenses won't reduce the weight that much. They are quite heavy designs, and at best will result in a more condensed device with a moderate weight loss (mostly produced from trimmed plastic in the smaller shell). I'd imagine that this device also won't feature such a high resolution. The newest xr3 processor isn't that much more powerful than the xr2 to justify such a large resolution jump. It will result in upscaling games even more than currently.
The passthrough sounds nice? I guess grainy color is better than grainy black and white.
Right, that makes sense about the lenses not reducing the weight but rather the design of the headset allows for weight reduction. I'm going off of the trends qualcomm/meta has posted for their hardware but any double digit performance would be really good as long as they're able to keep replicating the growth as we move forward in development! Quest 3 sound good improvement from Quest 2, but it's still not enough for casual users.
Today, VR is good enough only for games, but we still don't have enough AAA games.
Second use case i see 3d movies but resolution is to small and headset is not comfortable enough, and of course there is not enough 3D movies.
Third one is a work, but for that you need resolution way more than we have now, and Fov at list 120, and headset to be super.
But facebook doing all wrong he want casual people to work in VR but they neglecting Geeks, gamers.
They should have first please that geeks, who could popularize VR, just have more AAA game and content.

Thank you for the comment! You bring up a lot of good points and I agree with the 3 you listed. I'm just hoping and wishing for AAA with the 40+ games coming alongside Quest 3 at launch this year. I really hope standalone VR gaming can turnaround and go on a good run. I don't really think about 3D movies too often but having entertainment besides gaming to capitalize through the use of VR is definitely necessary! I also wouldn't mind keeping the Quest line for the casual users and the Pro line for the geeks/enthusiasts/gamers and truly get the "Pro" experience for games and work but I think they've failed to do that...🤷♂️

I would prefer to relax and watch something and even flat movies is fun in vr. Immersion of you been somewhere else and watching movie is great, but headset is to uncomfortable and resolution with lenses is bad.
My main focus getting VR was because of work, I am working and don't have my place and free time i code and i need multi monitor set up. I thought virtual one will work, but it's not great at all.

It's either this or Bigscreen Beyond +base stations +index controllers... I'd prefer the better micro OLED display and I do PCVR exclusively. I just don't want to buy base stations and Index controllers!
The latter option will cost you so much! The BB + accessories will be much better than Quest 3 but it’s just the price of everything. I like Quest 3 since you’ll get most features with decent specs for $500 (or less) + accessories 🤷♂️

I already have Quest 2, bought a bobovr m1 headstrap with batteries, a carrying bag and a stand, I'll buy everything again when Quest 3 comes out, I already have the money saved up, just waiting for the Zuck to give me the signal to throw it at my screen

I hope it's good I liked the qwest 2 but I couldn't get all I wanted from a vr headset but it was pretty good. But I'm about to start saving up for it so I won't have to worry about price. I'm hoping it's at least 500 or less though 😭

I don't think that's totally out of the question. For me, at this point, Meta and Mark Zuck has stated multiple times that Quest 3 will be released in 2023 so that'll be a really bad look on them if they don't come through!

Okay, now what I'm wondering is if I can have a Quest 2 and 3 and be able to run them at the same time on the same account. Unlike having 2 Switches. I regret buying a second Switch because only the main account can use the second Switch and I bought it so my wife and kids could use them and none of them are the primary account.
I'm not totally sure but it gives me a lot of trouble if I use the same account on my Quest 2 and Pro. I would recommend creating a separate account under the same headset since the secondary account will be able to play all of the games you bought/downloaded on the primary account for free. They just can't access the DLCs unless they buy the game + DLC.
I'd prefer 1 QLED panel with local dimming instead of 2 standard LCD panels.

I do like the new headsets coming out and each headset has its strong points. I’m just a big fan of Quest 3 as a general go-to headset due to the availability to the everyday users!

That would be pretty convenient so you can get a cheaper headset since you’re not paying for the controllers. I could see them doing that since touch pro controllers are sold separately now but my guess would be that they won’t do that🤷♂️

I have the money saved up for my quest 3 and was expecting maybe a price of $399.99 for the base model
So with Mark Zuck saying it’s gonna be more than Quest 2, I’m assuming that means more than $400. Right now there’s a Quest 2 sale at $350 so not sure if that has any part of it to potentially price the Quest 3 at $400🤷♂️

i may be wrong but with the new snap dragon dhip and the quest 3 making use of its full potential it should be able to run ps4 games but that could be completely false
If this is true, this will be a MAJOR leap in performance for VR. PS4 games were really good with graphics compared to standalone VR games so that’ll be really cool! Also, this opens up a PS4 emulator to run PS4 games if such thing even exists🤷♂️

@@asvr_vr mainly performance. If it has any issues or maybe problems. I would then know a majority of them will be fixed within the year. So when I finally do purchase it. It will have latest updates and not so many bugs or issues from when it was first released.

we don't need face tracking, only eye tracking. THIS alone is seriously a bottleneck to making standalone VR with good performance. Even on PCVR. Why would you not add eye tracking. It adds essentially free performance without you noticing the downside
Thank you for the comment! Yeah, I also like eye tracking to enable foveated rendering which leaves room to make specs higher while games are running. I also like few games that uses eye tracking to enhance features of a game like Horizon Call of the Mountain!

Absolutely! If they do come out with the 512GB option, the storage might be a little too much but as game studios release more AAA games with larger file sizes, the 512GB storage will definitely come in handy!!

I think at this point in development, they'll probably stick with LCD. Last I've heard was they're testing 1LCD or 2LCD. I think it's there way of keeping the cost down as much as possible to get the headset out to as many people as possible.

Can anybody tell me the difference of 2 LCD vs 1 LCD?
So the Quest 2 has 1 large LCD screen that covers the right side and the left side. 2 LCD brings a LCD screen just for the right side (eye) and another one for left side (eye).

Well when you eventually get the Quest 3, it should feel like a huge upgrade. The only VR headset I tried and returned was the Oculus Go. There were many things I didn't like about the Go, but the main things were lack of content, bad FOV, and the screen door effect. I hope these things are a thing of the past when I get the Quest 3.

Honestly what i mostly want is the Quest 3 to have face and Eye tracking and pancake lenses with 0 issues plus Virtual Desktop along with Wifi 6e and good enough comfort plus a battery that lasts alot more then 2 hours thats really all i want but i dont really see much of a reason to get a Quest 3 if you already have a Quest 2 i mean sure better performance and pancake lenses but thats all its majorly got going for it unless it can support wifi 6e but even still thats still not much of an incentive to get one. Now maybe im being abit critical but what i would like to see still hasnt happened yet. I intend to have full body tracking for VRChat and eye tracking + Face Tracking all for the realism and immersion plus social factor i mean everyones different but i cant help but feel disappointed by Meta and the Quest 3.
I completely understand what you’re getting at. If you want the full immersion, Quest 3 is just too cheap to include everything. Obviously with added technology/immersion, the cost increases so I think the PCVR dedicated headsets are probably a better fit for you or even the Quest pro with a portable charger to add battery life. It also helps that there are increased number of companies creating their version of full body tracker so the consumers can pick and chose the right product for them!
To be honest I don't see any benefit of eye and face tracking and do t care about it.
I don't see too much for face tracking either. Just a little boost in communication in social games I feel like. I do like eye tracking though. Foveated rendering is what the future is heading towards and playing games like Horizon Call of the Mountain, I really enjoyed what they did with eye tracking!

This is ABSOLUTELY true and I agree 100%. The hardware is clearly evolving in front of our eyes but the software and games is where VR is still lacking. The good thing is, the better the specs of a headset, the more game developers able to make a better game in terms of performance and graphics!
