I collect, strip, restore and repaint these antique cast iron frames. It looks like a double bed frame, made to accommodate a queen mattress. It's nice but honestly, it would look better if it was left the way it was. Also, the mattress looks lifted, because the side rails, or slats would accommodate a box spring that goes into the frame, so the mattress is up higher than it should be, which obscures most of the ornamental castings. To each his own, at least you didn't chop it up and make a bench out of it, or stick in the backyard as a "flowerbed" as I've seen some people do. Looks nice and comfy.

Curious how much overhang there was? I love antique iron beds.
The mattress extends about 3” past the frame on both sides.
