  • Before Chemar Holder arrived for this training camp, I understood the opportunity, the global interest and the magnitude of the task.
This training camp has attracted intrigue from people all over the world, the other week, former West Indies batting powerhouse, Philo Wallace, travelled down to High Wycombe Cricket Club see us. After having a chat, Philo told me that he wanted to connect me with a friend of his…
Upon hearing this, I had no clue that the friend was a legendary fast bowler.
    SIR ANDY ROBERTS!
In this clip, you can see a few snippets of the conversation that I had with Sir Andy. We spoke about a number of things but the key subject was ‘how to bowl fast’.
Interestingly, Sir Andy’s perspective aligned with a lot of my philosophies. And I don’t believe that just because you bowl or have bowled fast, you know everything about fast bowling. The experience of bowling fast will obviously allow one to understand the feelings involved but a lot of the elite fast bowlers can’t tangibly break down what they did and how they did it - it was a ‘natural’ process for them. In my opinion, a lot of the fast bowlers who have been there and done it can open your eyes to the art of bowling fast and the academics and researchers can help you understand the science of fast bowling.
It was a honour to have our work at SpeedCamp being recognised and appreciated by a legend like Sir Andy Roberts and another milestone in the entire journey and training camp.
A big thank you to Matt Atkins & Philo Wallace for connecting us all.
