We had two JD MTs and they were great little tractors. We typically were trying to use them to do jobs that were bigger than the tractor, but they just seemed to do it anyway. We were always laughing about the things we did with them that they did in spite of their tiny size and our expectation that they wouldn't be able to do it. Used them for many years on the farm and sent one of them off to be used at a drive in theater we owned, where it served lawn cutting duty as well as scraper blading the ramps and driveways back into shape. Neither of them ever gave a speck of trouble and even if they had, they were simple and cheap to fix, so I find it hard to believe they ever had any adverse effect on JD's reputation. The IH 3588 and Case 1070 were also really good tractors. They were both widely used in our area and were both reliable and nice to operate. I spent thousands of hours on IH 3588, 1066, 1466, 1468 tractors and all the Case 970 through 1370 series--and their predecessor 30 series machines. Pretty much all its components were taken directly from other successful models, so nearly everything in it was tried and true. The only actual weakness of the 3588 might have been the torque amplifier, which was used across all the larger IH tractors. I don't know if they ever made a version of it that was tough enough for 100 hp+ tractors, but most people just avoided using the T/A more than necessary, or just understanding you will probably break it if you do use it much lol. Not sure where the data came from to claim either the 3588 or 1070 were bad tractors because they certainly were popular and highly regarded in our area. In the narrative of the video, it sounded like the 3588 destroyed IH's reputation and ultimately the company. That isn't even remotely true. Still, it's fun to look at these "worst of" / "best of" lists and argue about how unreasonable all the entries are lol. If you were to construct a "most hated" of all time, I'd put the Ford 8N and all its inbred offspring at the top of the list. And yet even today, people who buy 10 acres and two horses also get one of those useless hateful things because they don't know any better. The MT, in spite of its size, would serve those hobby farmers a lot better than one of those crappy little Fords.

I have a BX1850, bought in 2008. I use it the way it's intended, do the required maintenance and keep it in my garage. This tractor has been Flawless !!!

So here's a Gem for you.
A tractor that actually Reliable but Horrible for Use.
From ex Yugoslavia now Serbia, and Unfortunately still in production since 1973.
It was a Semi licensed Massey Ferguson design with a We can make it better, and cheap spin.
And truth be Told they did. part from one little Tiny detail.
    It will make you deaf.
And for all of you reading and feeling smart about knowing Earmuffs exist, hold your horses.
IMT 577 is the Magical Unicorn.
BTW I tried with Many microphones, and they just can't capture such a sound. It's like some Engines Usually Mercedes engines that make sweet sounds but sound like crap on Videos, Microphones just seem to be enabled to capture it.
Industry of Machines and Tractors(IMT) Made a 72HP 2WD and 4WD, actually great, tractor. From a standpoint of Reliability, power and maintenance. As well as the Price.
Why the tractor is Relevant, since It was also Exported to many African and South American countries, since Yugoslavia was a very Relevant small country at the time, offering a cheap but dependable machine, or a few.
Like the IMT 533 which is a slightly stronger Massey Ferguson 35, IMT continued to Look up to designs of cheaper older English machines. Offering some improvements from time to Time.
The Engine was Licensed, but It turned out to be Just slightly more reliable.
S44 as Called by IMR(factory that made the engines) license of the Perkins Equivalent I believe M44 A had 72 HP opposed by the Perkins 69Hp.
Not that significant, But the Fuel injection had higher Pressure and the Compression ratio was just Slightly upped, resulting in a better burning engine that was smoother, more responsive and Somehow by some Socialist magic slightly more reliable.
I would probably guess Better Materials.
    The Problem.
    Unlike the Massey Ferguson.
IMT just said: Fuck it Straight Cut gears are Cheap and strong.
And they do Be correct on that one.
    However
IMT in that one specific model, managed to Create such an Ungodly whine of gears, that covers several Pitches and has made MANY of the Drivers partially or severely deaf.
Earmuffs help, but the Fact most Old school farming was done listening out for Foreign objects hitting the Machines, like Rocks, trees, Bricks, and stuff breaking like Cultivator springs, digger rods etc, you couldn't afford to just isolate from the world.
    As if you could.
We used Technology and found out it Actually Covers 4 Pitches of Whine audible to Humans.
    At the same time...
2 if you are only driving on the road.
The best I could find is this guy ua-cam.com/video/albCerWD-UI/v-deo.html
Thats the sound but around 30% of the volume and intensity of the real in cab experience.
The worst part of is, it was redesigned for the 4th Time in 2008 and its still on Sale today for around 34 000 Euro with 4WD.
Redesigned means New Hood Fenders and Cab.
They never even thought about redesigning the Gearbox and the Planetary wheel Gears that make the noise.
The New cab is the Best one and it adopts the Wester modern Float style, its lifted from the Rest of the tractor, with thick floor padding.
The noise is still very audible.
I Actually suggested Serbia should make a Weapon out of it, since it will cause Tinnitus after a Few hours of Heavy plowing when the Whine is the strongest.
The sad thing in all this is it's actually a Good Machine when it comes to anything else than the Operator health. Even the Oldest ones are still working the fields even with Missing Not Crucial parts like Cabs, Fenders, Hoods etc..
You can See many of the On UA-cam just Search IMT 577.
Its a very speedy Plower , and it has a Massey Ferguson Issue as well, If the slight rain starts its immediately slipping. Especially in Plowing. But it's a strong, reliable Old tractor that many Use still. With a stupid fault.
And the Drivers are friendly, mainly because they can't hear you when you talk shit about their tractor. :)
Oh IMT also Made tractors like Massey Ferguson 1805.
All the Way to the Strongest Serial Tractor in the World at the time the 5360 and 5500 Both having Mercedes V12 NA and Biturbo for 520Hp 5500.
But it didn't have MF issues it actually worked perfectly fine.
It failed logistically because No one in Yugoslavia needed it and the Few that were made and Used by a National Dairy corporation called PKB, that made food for their own animals. They were parked because they couldn't get them to the Fields.
They and the Machines needed to exploit them in 1982 were too big to Move anywhere, and Yugoslavia isn't like the US where Farmland is isolated and connected. We have Large field Groups but Still Cant have American/Australian farming style. They still have to navigate European roads and Towns and villages.
IMT was bought by another lover of Massey Ferguson in 2018, Indian TAFE. They made around 780 000 Tractors before that. From 35hp all the way to 520hp. Agricultural and Forest ones.

Add 560 to list with virtually non-existent brakes. We had 2 of them with different type of brakes, both were blocking wheels occasionally. On the other hand, our almost 50 years old 558 with forestry upgrade works like a charm.

Your way off on the IH 3588. It was designed as a row crop tractor, not a heavy tillage tractor. Most ignored this and pulled bigger tools then should have been used. I can continue, but you should do a little more research.

For being one of the worst tractors of all time, it surprises me that there are so many Allis 190xt's still in the field, still being used to make a living. Perhaps some people don't know how to operate a tractor properly.

The 3588 was not a bad tractor at all, you’re wrong on that, theyre ugly but they have lasted a verey long time, i have multiple neighbors that run a 3588 and they’re perfectly fine. A case 1070 as one of the worst is absolutely wrong. I have a 1070 with well over 6000hrs and it works just fine. You’re definitely wrong

We had a John Deere MT and never had an issue with it for years on a farm and retired it to a golf course in 1970 were it ran another 10 years and then sold. It was extremely dependable and the only draw back was it did not have much power needed for a farm it was perfect for a golf course to pull gang mowers.

I never used any of the tractors mentioned here. Our all time worst was a 400 Farmall Diesel. We spent more money trying to keep it running than we did on 4 John Deere tractors. There was always something wrong with it finally we sold it and bought a used 720 John Deere on propane.

A list of the worst tractors of all time and the Deere MT gets a spot over the 2010? Hardly. There's a lot of make believe in this video, such as saying that the M/MT engine and transmission were troublesome. Nothing could be farther from the truth. The Deere 2010, on the other hand, is widely regarded as the bottom of the barrel, even by those who bleed green.

The 2 newer John Deeres you show are build in Italy. I have driven a John Deere 5315F to be precise, and that one is also build in Italy. After a 6 weeks job i had more than enough of the piece of crap, and after my vacation i never went back to the same job. What a terrible tractor that is. I am a true John Deere fan, we have 2 of them on our own farm, a 6220 and a 2850, 2 very reliable tractors, but my gosh, that Italian crap is just horrible, and doe not even deserve the color and the JD decals on it.
