The second idea is awesome, but you can make touching blocks not to kill you.
Regarding hide and seek, also the cube should be able to "throw" the orb in a narrow distance and it will explode with a radius, maybe smaller.
For the 3rd idea, make the cube and spike to swap characters in like 30 secs and add a goal, like activating some blocks or reaching somewhere.
