      Only reason my 80 Regal is still alive is bc it's parked 7 months of the year. Even after the snow melts, ya gotta wait a month or more for the salt to be off the roads. Can't wait to retire and go south

      ny don't keep those cars get scrap or stolen ny people want new cars
      and insurance is high and finding
      parking not easy

      @@robertvalentin5846 maybe in the city, but, keep in mind there is an entire state attached to the city. These cars, much like anything else from the era, weren't exactly rust proof. Here in the salt belt, they had sagging bumpers by 4 years old. Mine came out of SC, and it gets oil sprayed each year.

      You can find parking in NYC. Just stay out of certain boroughs.

  • @googleusergp
    @googleusergp 4 роки тому +4

    Whoa Nelley, it's a Regal and it's got no VIN, it's no longer legal. But we got the VIN and we win so here we go: 4 for Buick, J for Regal, 47 for two door, A for 231 V6 with two barrel RPO "LD5" produced by Buick, non-turbo , 9 for 1979 model year, Z for Fremont, CA assembly and the rest is the production sequence.
    Possible code #61 tan exterior color with probably a Camel Tan interior color code of #62. The LD5 is the reason it's probably here, so that's it, it just quit. It once ran, but no longer can.

      Looks like someone peeled the column and stole it, trashed it and left it. The 231 in those cars was questionable back then. Flat cams, burning of valves, failing t-chains, and yes, failing oil pumps were common. Around here, the oil filter and pump housing would get packed with snow and ice since there was so much room around it. It would then freeze solid overnight and when started in the cold morning, if the oil was too thick, it would break the pressure spring or damage the pump internally and the engine would soon fail, as it was on high idle.. Seen that happen a lot.

    • @googleusergp
      @googleusergp 4 роки тому

      @@adamtrombino106 Yes, the Buick V6 and Buick V8 used the same integral oiling system (I think Cadillac may have too). Very poor system. The oil pump belongs in the oil pan like Chevrolet, Oldsmobile and Pontiac did on their engines.

  • @UsefulEntertainment
    @UsefulEntertainment 4 роки тому +1

    ahh that things got a 3.8 buick v6, it probably lost oil pressure and got parked. the dead give away to the motor was the oil filter up front on the passenger side.

    Those are factory original Buick wheels that were normally found on the higher end Sport Coupe models. Being such a base model car with hardly any options at all, I'm surprised to see that this car has them. Very rare to find those now.

    Was able to save a lot of trim and "trinket" parts and the wheels. Big Shout to Steve The G Body Saver Accouti. The man drove 6 hour round trip to do what he could. Not one trip, but 2. The man should be commended 👍👊

    My Mom had a 79 in that GM bronze/copper color. Interior was the same color as this one, but she had a floor shifter and vinyl buckets. Those seats combined with the 80s nut hugger shorts I wore as a kid and a hot sun made for some awful burns. Always liked that car though. Kept the tags and now have them on my ‘77 Regal.

    I remember when these were called "A" bodies. ("G" happened in 1982 when "A" was built off the notorious "X" body). I drove one like this in Driver's Ed in high school. I miss RWD, body-and-frame cars so much! 🚗!

    This yard had a nice 90-ish Chevy G20 conversion last week and they destroyed it pulling the motor out. Strange place they run there.

      They're supposed to have polished stainless trim-rings to complete the look. Optional factory wheels. This car isn't highly optioned. I'm guessing it's a V6. Isn't the hood release inside under the dash?
