Hey I appreciate that....I wanted to help someone out if I could. I know when I was looking for this info I was having trouble because nobody really was giving all the info. I decided to make a video with ALL the info needed to accomplish this look if you liked it. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for this video, I have 1987 REGAL LTD 275/40/17 rear and 245 /40/17 8 inches wheels I dropped the car 2 inches on all four corners, so with your set up I'm going try rear tires in the front and see how they work out in that case I go 10 inches wide into the back with a 305 without notching the frame, thanks for sharing with us your video.
That sounds like a good plan, I hope it works out great. Feel free to email me some pictures when you do that. My email is cutlassvibes@yahoo.com Thanks for watching!
Nice ride brother. I've done many G-Body's so I was hoping to give you a little info. The cracks on your tires are from impact with the fender. The soft compound will stretch and tear when the weight of the car impacts the rotating tire. Harder compound tires will cut but they won't tear. I also had a mustang with same issue so I've experienced this on 5 separate cars.
Hey brother I sure do appreciate the info. Thanks for the explanation I'm always open to learning and listening to what others have experienced. Thank you for watching.
I have a 1976 Buick century Indianapolis 500 pace car I'm going to keep the 15 inch mags for the back I'm thinking of using p275/60/15 for the front I'm thinking of using 251/70/15 with Micky Thompson sportsman all season tire's
I don't get the backspacing differences. I fit 17x9 on 275/40's on all 4 corners. Came with 4.5" backspacing and had to run a half inch spacer. Love your ride man.
I bet yours is a cool setup as well...I wanted a certain look and I take trips on my car occasionally, so I didn't want to run spacers at all. Like for example your 4.5" backspacing in the rear plus your 1/2" spacer equals the 5" backspacing I have with no spacer at all. I'm glad you love the ride sir I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.
might wanna consider getting those welds redone on the frame notch because damn those are some booger welds theres a reason people use kits because the piece that replaces the removed part is thicker then OE steel to retain some strength in the fram
I had a well known local welder do it for me, but I can always have another welder take a look and make sure it's good. Thank you for the comment I appreciate it.
I just got an 81 monte carlo and was wondering what the widest you can go on the front is? I want to do 10in wide basset or arrow race wheels on all 4 corners but i don't know if 10 will fit the front so any ideas? 10.5in fit the rear because my fathers Oldsmobile has 10.5 drag slicks on the back. So i know i have room on the back.
Oh nice....well I have 9in with 4.5 backspace in the front with a 275 tire and on big dips it hits just a tad bit. Not sure if a 10 would work but please let me know if you find out. That would be a nice setup! Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Hey I appreciate that... your Monte Carlo would look awesome with this setup. These are the Rushforth wheels Rated X. Do you have any pictures of the car? If you do, feel free to send them to my email I'd love to check them out. cutlassvibes@yahoo.com Thanks for watching!
Oh ok I was about to say that sounds like a lot of backspace. I'm sure that it's really an 18 X 9 just might not measure exactly what they say. It will work...every once in a while when I hit a big dip my tire touches just a little bitty bit. Maybe going 1 size less wide would be perfect just so it doesn't touch any at all.
Yes they will....I had them with my stock 7.5 10 bolt for a while before I upgraded to the 9in. I did have to get the frame notched though before they fit. Which I explain in the video. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
@@CutlassVibes you think I’d be pushing it with 4.5 inch backspacing in the rear? I know you said you’re running I’m trying to get as big as lip as I can lol
Man, I honestly don't know how wide on a 2006. Mine's a lot older style car. Sorry I couldn't help you much on that...thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes!
No sir...measurements are same as the stock rear end. In fact I had these wheels on my stock rear end for a couple of years before I went with this 9 in. Thanks for watching!
@Charles Hayes I won't be much help with this question, because I have zero experience with 22 inch wheels. All I can tell you is before I bought these custom wheels ... I had non custom American Racing wheels and the widest I could fit was a 275 and it still slightly rubbed when the car twisted a certain way.
@Bacongaming406 Yes, I ordered that online at Speedway Motors, and it's listed under UMI 3055-R 78-88 G-Body Rear Shock Tower Brace. Hope this helps....thank you for watching Cutlass Vibes.
The stock rear end will work with this setup. I had the stock rear end on this car up until a few months back. Here's the link to the video where I talk about the shop if you'd like to watch it ua-cam.com/video/II94FdW1jRI/v-deo.html Thank you very much for watching.
I totally understand what your saying....I might can get someone else to redo it for me when I get a chance. Thank you for the comment and for watching Cutlass Vibes.
FINALLY! some one revealed the Rims specs to accomplish this thanks man!!

It looks like you went with Factory backspacing which is very important for correct suspension geometry.
I haven't had any issues with suspension or anything, so I am glad this setup has worked well for me. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Nice. Thanks man really needed this video!
I really appreciate your comment, and I'm glad it helped out! Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Thank you that think didn’t roll my fender either I also git tired and hammered it
Yeah I've heard alot of guys say those work great but it didn't do anything for me. I'm glad someone else beat it with a hammer also lol.
Great video brother! Gonna set my Monte Carlo SS similar
Thank you! Your Monte will look sweet! Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Great video, what brakes are you running in the rear.
Thank you very much! I am running the 11" Disc Brakes w/Park Brake that I ordered with the rear end from Quick Performance.
Ohhhh shes beautiful
Thank you very much I appreciate that. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.

in my 87 Monte SS I'm running 295/50R15 on the rear on a 10 inch wide rim, 4.5 backspacing with 5mm spacer. Fit's in the wheel well, no rubbing.
Sounds like a nice setup as well. Thank you for sharing this information.
good footage bro
Thank you very much I appreciate you. Thanks for taking the time to comment and to watch.
I have 255/60/15 rear and 235 in front monte Carlo ss 87

Thanks for the info. And videos
Were did u get the spoiler thank u
Thank you for the support! I ordered the spoiler from Ebay and came from The Parts Place.
nice setup man im curious about where you got the rear spoiler from?
Thank you very much! You can get these spoilers on ebay, also can get from mikesmontes.com. hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
That 9" setup came from Quick Performance?
Yes it's a quick performance 9 inch.
Can you go full lock with the 9 inches up front or do you rub?
I can go full lock and it's perfect! This set up doesn't rub front or back. Thanks for watching!
Are your tires seeing freezing weather? I've had a few sets that say not to let experience freezing temperatures.
Yes we get some freezing weather for sure. I hadn't heard of that before... Thank you for the info.

Hey I love the video. I have a 84 Monte Carlo ls swap. whats the brand name of those rims ? I’m looking to copy what you did.
@@CutlassVibes ok I will
@@CutlassVibes and thank you for the info
@King man you're welcome and I can't wait to see your car with this setup.
Would 9.25 backspace on the front work as well?
Sorry. I mean rims are 18X 9.25
Oh ok I was about to say that sounds like a lot of backspace. I'm sure that it's really an 18 X 9 just might not measure exactly what they say. Yall think i can get some 20 x8 reverse daytons on a 79 Malibu all around
To be honest with you, I am not sure. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Did you have to notch it in the front too?
No I didn't do anything to the front. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Is your 9" rear axle the same width as stock?
Yes it is the same width as stock. Quick Performance has one for Gbody which is what I ordered. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Doesn’t the 275 in the front rub when u turn
Mine works great! Might be depending on backspacing....what wheel setup are you running?
Will the 18x10 inch rear wheels fit with the stock 7.5 10 bolt?
Yes they will....I had them with my stock 7.5 10 bolt for a while before I upgraded to the 9in. I did have to get the frame notched though before they fit. Which I explain in the video. Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.

I honestly think it might be pushing it with a 10 inches, but it might work heck who knows lol.
@1tonystunts mine is a tight fit as is though just thought I'd let you know....I had to roll that lip for my setup to fit in there.
How wide can I go on my 2006 Montecarlo SS ?
Man, I honestly don't know how wide on a 2006. Mine's a lot older style car. Sorry I couldn't help you much on that...thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes!
Did you change the rear-end measurements
No sir...measurements are same as the stock rear end. In fact I had these wheels on my stock rear end for a couple of years before I went with this 9 in. Thanks for watching!
I want to go 22" inch Irocs with a little lift and rolled fenders if needed..I don't want to shorten the rear or modify the frame
What's the widest I can go with a stock setup
@Charles Hayes I won't be much help with this question, because I have zero experience with 22 inch wheels. All I can tell you is before I bought these custom wheels ... I had non custom American Racing wheels and the widest I could fit was a 275 and it still slightly rubbed when the car twisted a certain way.
Where u buy the brach?
To be honest, I'm not sure what the brach is? Could you help me a little?
The red bar that gose from one shock to the other
@Bacongaming406 Yes, I ordered that online at Speedway Motors, and it's listed under UMI 3055-R 78-88 G-Body Rear Shock Tower Brace. Hope this helps....thank you for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Thanks. Very cool raide
Thank you very much!
I would love to see Chad’s Monte Carlo
Definitely a car to see....Chad has done lots of cool things to it! Thanks for watching Cutlass Vibes.
Is there anyway I can see his car on social media? I also have 87 Monte Carlo SS thinking of getting a new set of rims.
I tell you what....if you have Facebook send me a message on my page Cutlass Vibes and I'll see if I can get some pics for you....
Did get a narrower rear end ?
Make video about the build of your shop I want to get one done
The stock rear end will work with this setup. I had the stock rear end on this car up until a few months back. Here's the link to the video where I talk about the shop if you'd like to watch it ua-cam.com/video/II94FdW1jRI/v-deo.html Thank you very much for watching.
20s
These are 18s
Buddy that “welds”. Like dog turds 😂
Might have to get it redone as soon as I get a chance. Thank you for the comment.
No disrespect, that welding is horrible. U should have got someone else. Sorry
I totally understand what your saying....I might can get someone else to redo it for me when I get a chance. Thank you for the comment and for watching Cutlass Vibes.
