Of all the UA-cam reactions, yours was the one I was most looking forward to. I really like your work. However, I think this album deserved a full reaction. All the tracks, since it’s conceptual and tells a story.
Stunning textures, amazing production, brilliant musicianship, music goes unusual and unexpected ways.. Not normally a fan of his growling, but here it works wonders, due to the contrasts, AND his ageing, deepening voice. Masterpiece, pure and simple.
The whole album is a freaking masterpiece, but especially §4, §5 and ESPECIALLY §6 are among the best songs they've ever made in my opinion. Opeth literally can't do no wrong.
@bryanmack5410 Definitely still around. There doesn't seem to be enough full album reviews for TLWAT. I've watch a few individual tracks, but it's not the same for this particular album. I think I've exhausted all other reactions for everything else. 😁 At times there are reactors that give me the heebie jeebies I just can't stand to watch. As long as I'm still alive & kicking (now at 75), I'll be searching for good Opeth reactions. 🤗 Thanks for your comment. Its nice to know you're still out there too.
I was kinda halfway on this album, but as with many Opeth albums it take's a while and many listens to adjust to Akerfeldt's brain waves. I'm adjusting and I think it's slowly becoming album of the year. Damn you, Opeth. Damn you.
Lovely reaction 😀 This album is so unique and it is combination of many styles and characters. For example, many layers of this track is inspired by Middle-Eastern folk music, strings, chords and even drums beat. Please react to $4 too :-) It's an amazing song
That can hardly be called a riff. It is a transition. You mean gun-machine guitar part there? It is not a riff. A riff is a thematic structure over some bars repeating.
It took me a while to digest this album...normally these cats let everything breathe over time. This one is meticulously crafted, second by second, to never let up...right when you think you're getting a break BOOM GROWLLLL.
You mentioned layers awhile back and I called it the Rabbit Hole of Opeth. I can't think of another artist or group that is as diversified, it's shocking to me. Also Marin Lopez is my favorite, AXE is great but the new guy is over the top!!
I'm still trying to process how I feel about the album. I prefer the metal side of Opeth, but I didn't want this album to be them just trying to recapture the 2001-2005 "classic" Opeth sound. I wanted them to go heavy in a new way. I definitely think they succeeded, but that doesn't change the fact that the entire album is HARD to fully digest. I think building music around a story is very limiting in a way. So many of the musical concepts are tied to the story, and I think that's why there's such a chaotic structure to the songs and things don't repeat for very long. They're moving on to the next part of the story. I feel like this was an important album for the band to make. After Martin Axenrot left the band, who knows what they were going to do? They're not exactly young guys. But they got Waltteri and it injected some excitement into the band. With that energy, I think they should have just been allowed to write whatever music they wanted, just let that creative expression out. Now that they have, I do hope the next album is more...conventional, for lack of a better term. I still don't think we need Blackwater Park 2, but if Opeth can still create something truly "metal" sounding in 2024, I'd like to hear it. Anyway, man I can talk a lot. I enjoyed you two listening to this, made me enjoy the song even more. That said, §6 is even crazier. Would've destroyed you both.
I pretty much agree with you. Listening to these songs and their chaotic structure makes me miss even more classic Opeth. There's a lot of good stuff and I can't blame them for trying something different but this isn't the Opeth I fell in love with. It's close but not there yet.
It´s a good song and a good album. But overall I feel it is mid tier in the Opeth catalouge. It´s almost too progressive and too experimental for my taste, but I still really like it. Wish they stayed a bit longer on the riffs, with less pauses. The album has a lot of character and also good production. 8/10
Honestly this whole album is a miss for me. Ive listened to it fully for at least 20 times and i cant get into it. I never thought i would say this....but he should not have had growls in this album. I actually prefer the previous album much more (this coming from a guy who loves Still Life!)
More experience, and you'll get there..... Try listening to some Opera as well. It is good training, and lots of, lots of prog.... You know, growls is just a character, a story-telling. It is an instrument. This new album is perfect!
@@rabarebraI doubt it man. I think I’ve reached a point where I know what I want to listen to and this isn’t it. Like I said the previous album was great! This one, I can’t believe I’m saying it but the growls don’t work with it. I think the band has moved past using growls.
I love Ashes and The Mantle. If I'm being honest Marrow Of The Spirit is my favorite. My only complaints about Agalloch's newer albums is that John abandoned his clean singing.
Akerfeldt is a god damn genius.

They are the best, very spontaneous, uniques, When i see another opeth reactions i feel bored
Totally agree with you! ..... I think that Kirawas-something did an reaction of the whole album, but that lady has no clue whatsoever about music
This one is unique, i loved it. The best for me is the sequence §4 to §7.
Exactly.
Agree
Album of the fuckinnnggg year...
they never Miss
gotta do full album reaction
last 4 albums?
The real Opeth is back thankfully.
§4 to §7 is a full ride of joy and freakness. Great reaction.
Absolutely. I'd probably even start with Subsection 3. And all of it capped off with Story Never Told. Just perfection.
Stunning textures, amazing production, brilliant musicianship, music goes unusual and unexpected ways.. Not normally a fan of his growling, but here it works wonders, due to the contrasts, AND his ageing, deepening voice. Masterpiece, pure and simple.
The drums are just unreal this entire album. Can't even begin to wrap my head around some of the beats.

Your reactions are just so great 👍
Definitely a HIT. It's my favorite track for sure.
Opeth breaks the mold...yet again. 🔥🔥❤Opeth❤🔥🔥
Absolutely this for me too. §3 to §6 are all insanely good, but §5 takes the cake
@@MechMonstrosity So true!

Damn you.
I cannot fucking wait to see Opeth live in Australia next year! Gonna be awesome!! This album is the shit from start to finish!!
I will see them live in a couple of months. Saw them the summer that was as well.
fiinaaally the reaction we ve been waiting for, please do S4 & S6
This is album of the year for me!! Followed closely by Blood Incantation...you guys should ABSOLUTELY react to their new album 🤘
I love your opeth reactions.
Please do the other tracks too.
The whole album is awesome.

Please listen to Paragraph 4 and 6 !!!
3-6 on this album are really good
The entire album is good.
§1 to §7 + ending is really good.
2:55 goooooooshhh I wish they'd kept that riff longer, that was soooo nasty
That can hardly be called a riff. It is a transition. You mean gun-machine guitar part there? It is not a riff. A riff is a thematic structure over some bars repeating.
@rabarebra riff/part/lick however you wanna call it, I loved it
@@Aven115 Yes, all the parts are great. I know what you mean.
i love your guy's reactions please please do §4
Best song on the album.
you should check §6 next 🔥🔥
Excellent
S 6 is my fav song from the album.
Opeth always brings fire and smoke...
AOTY 🤘
Jinjer "Желаю Значит Получу".....the title is exactly that, I think you'll love it....old school jinjer
The whole album is a awesome. Track §4 onwards especially

If there’s anything wrong with this track it’s that it fades out during that beautiful vocal melody at the end. I just needed a few more bars of that.

Freddy does most of the solos on this whole album.
This one is my favorite on the new album but I’d say 3 to 6 need to be listened to together, if not the whole album as it just flows so well
paragraph 6 is the best
Kingdom of heaven by Epica!
polyrhythm!!!
That’s it!
I loved the outro but not the best on this album, S4 and S6 and S7 are above
Best song on the album, but the fade out is the worst moment of the album 😂

Polymeters is what you are trying to say!! 2 different time signatures at once...
It was killing me 👍

The drum beat is a reggeaton beat
