This video was one of the main reasons I bought this guitar. I wanted a 7string for so long but I didn't want to spend more than 750€ on it so I decided to go for this one and it's safe to say I made the right choice. I have it for a week now and I just can't put it down, it feels incredible to play, the pickups are very versatile so you can get a lot of tones from it. The tuning stability could be a bit better but it's not bad either, maybe I'll upgrade to locking tuners in the future but overall it is an incredible guitar.
I got this for 750 back in 2020, it's really sick. The pickups sound really good on cleans too. My only complaint is that the bridge pickup is too far away from the bridge. It should be closer to the bridge imo it sounds a little less muddy that way. There's no way you could get a 7 string this nice for that price now I feel lucky to have found this. I also have a jackson js227, the earlier model with the gloss black finish and the active mount soapbar style pickups. At first I was annoyed because musicians friend had the matte black one on there site but the pickups ended up sounding great and I figured I shouldn't roll the dice again on a 150 dollar guitar if I had gotten a winner already!
In my opinion, “Budget” is from $100-$600. Anything higher than that I consider it pro level, but that guitar looks BEAUTIFUL. I’ve always wanted a prestige or a Rgd but never can find one in my day to day price range lol.
I got a used Ibanez RG752FX-SPM which is a prestige model for about $1200 back in 2021 but I've upgraded it a bunch since then I'm not a big Dimarzzio fan so I swapped those out immediately for SD black Winters & a hipshot ibby bridge
I’m not really a metal guy, but looking forward to try 7 string guitar for something new. Those mellow tone demo you showcased are pretty useful to me, thanks
Sweetwater has it for $900. I was looking at the new RG7320EZ because it has a floyd style bridge but only comes in matte black. I also looked at the RG's that were mentioned but I keep reading reviews about issues out of the box like pickups being loose or screw holes stripped. I would rather spend a few extra hundred dollars and get something that has the sound I am looking for out of the box but would have Sweetwater do a setup on it for action height and neck.
If you're down to spend a few more hundred on a 7 I think thats a good idea. Try looking at the esp black metal or the schecter silver mountain. I have one of these and had no real issues but there might be a reason that you don't see these a lot. Maybe ibanez is struggling to meet the price point for this model.
I just got the Ibanez JBM10FX Jake Bowen sig model in white with an Evertune bridge (had to send it in to get it installed). Absolute beast of a guitar. Ibanez makes excellent axes.
I love the clean tones. Thank you for sharing those. The medium output PAF 7s intrigue me. By the way, do you know the weight of the guitar? Is it heavier or lighter than other Ibanez guitars or a Strat, for example? I play mostly standing up and I have a very light Ibanez S Series, but I was hoping to get an Ibanez 7 string of some kind, but I hope this RGD is fairly ergonomic.
Good point!! I shou;d've weighted it, though the guitar is extremely light IMO, roughly 4.5lbs or so, It's substantially lighter than my PRS SE 245 made of Mahogany, this is such a nice weight in comparison
Nice review, I was considering this guitar but I’ve read a review stating that the action can’t be adjusted below 2.5mm. Did you experience this problem?
Sorry for the late reply! I think this is true, but I really enjoy where the action is set at. If you have a shop nearby check out the RGD 7420, it plays very similar for reference, it just has that Ibanez branded hipshot usually.
@@YoungChug hey no worries and thanks for the reply! Unfortunately the only Ibanez I've seen in the shops of my city is the GRG7221QA, that has a different bridge :(. Very difficult to choose a guitar without playing it... I've tried the Jackson JS22Q7, but I was very disappointed with the pickups, they sounded very muddy.
hearing this in a natural setting not overly mixed and processed is nice, all other guitar reviews make you mind blown at sub $600 guitars then you buy one and play one and it's just a poorly intonated muddy fret buzzing pos
Hello! I want to buy my first "good" guitar, this is my price range. I used a SGR C7 by Schecter cheap guitar for years, and i want to upgrade. This guitar or Ibanez RGIXL7? My englis not the best, im from Hungary. :)
Hey man 👋, I recommend this guitar over the RGIXL7 if you're planning to play music in tunings between E standard (B standard) to C# standard (G# standard on 7 String.) the RGIXL7 has a 27" scale length so it is great for very low tunings, but it can feel too long of a guitar for songs in E Standard. What type of music do you like to play/ what tuning usually??
@@YoungChug its a hard question.😅 I really like playing leads and sweep solos(i cant play normal solos only sweeps, but i can sweep really fast)but i like playing loow tunings like Drop E, Drop F#. I just hate 8 strings, for me its feel so weird. I want to play low and want to play leads. Its difficult i know. Thanks for the amswers bro.😁
@@andortatar05 Awesome, man! I would go for the RGIXL7, then. For very low tunings it would be better suited for that. And for those type of tunings consider and evertune bridge guitar, it takes a little bit of learning, but it would make your life easier after :)

Riff Hard bro!? Was thinking of picking up this Ibanez soon. Do you still own it?
Riff hard bro!! It's an awesome guitar, I think the Axion Labels are worth the extra price jump, but this thing is sick thanks Steven :)
Have you tried cort kx507?
Killer guitar. I'm pretty sure the Kort factory still makes a lot of Ibanez' models, so I've played one and they are cheap BEASTS
@@YoungChug awesome, that beast is in my list besides the new ibanez axion label
