Q.- Katheryn has recently read the booker prize winner “The Discomfort of Evening” by Marieke Lucas Rijneveld, and decided to rate this book on the Goodreads website. There she is asked to rate the book on a scale of 1 - 5. What kind of scale(s) of measurement is(are) being used here for rating?
A. Interval scale
B. Ordinal scale
C. Ratio scale
D. Both interval and ratio scale
E. Both interval and ordinal scale
Ans. is (A) intervap scale, HOW??
Plz clear my doubt !!

The reason why it is not a ratio scale is - because Ratio scale uses a true zero and there is no zero present in this scale. The scale starts from 1 and there is no starting point as zero. This is why it is an interval scale.
This is not an ordinal scale because there is absence of an order or rank between 1 to 5. These are just rating points which make it a Likert Scale.
Hence, it is an interval scale.
