Same here. I was huge, huge, huge into skating from 1998 to 2008. Since 2008 until now, I've only skated twice, but I still love watching everything to do with skating.
i gotta say the only thing that changed being in my mid 40s, i forget that im not light on my feet... i go down and eat shit hard.
---the other thing is that most kids now a days have no idea about is drive and determination doing something for years on end until you feel passable, im in ahh of how good the youth was at 18-19 years 25-30 yrs ago. Im not talking just skating the goddamn music that was written, instruments,sports jjust in general there was a drive in the youth like im going to get this or it will kill me. from 12 on there was nothing else to do but find something you like and dont fckn stop... thats why America had the talent it did... not fckn anymore, i weap for these pussies.

I was a teenager maybe 15 and I 360 flipped down the old federal reserve stairs in minneapolis. I crashed so many times beforehand. I went home that day king of my own world.

Andrew Reynolds’s Davis gap kick flip is the greatest ever in my opinion. The size of the gap, the style, his age and determination at that time period.

Another under rated kickflip is Dustin dollin. His flicks are some of the quickest out there. They spin so quick with such little effort

James Hardy in Ride the Sky over the grass gap blew my mind in 7th grade and still to this day I haven’t seen one better

This is the absolute best shit in the history of entertainment. I could listen to Chris and Jason talk skating forever and ever.
I have so little knowledge of any of it myself, but I feel as mesmerized watching these guys break down tricks as I assume a lot of people get watching hours of post game replays from whatever sports ball they enjoy.

Such and underrated kickflip it's a work of art and Dylan's Tre were probably the best as well but no one acknowledges it
The Ryan Sheckler kick flip over the Costco gap in 2008 is the only answer to this question, I get that people don't like him but that trick was legendary
People who don't like Sheckler are just jealous lol he's one of the gnarliest skaters of all time
The way his knees touch his chest when he lands because of how high up he is blows my mind. He had to let his whole body absorb the shock from that.

Nick Trapasso's kickflip in Volcom Let's Live down the grass gap. So tweaked and effortless (**ninja style looking), best kickflip hands down. Ever. Also, Enzo Cautela's kickflip down the 20 stair might be in a close tie with Trapasso's just because of how clean it was.
Ok thats the one. I would say this is a historical kickflip. Ollies into the grass after. Still holds its own today.
That's funny I was thinking of Trapasso when they were talking about the 360 flips too. He does a couple of flat ground ones in his Suffer the Joy part that are steezy

Modus Operandi also gets the award for most inspiring intro. That montage completely encapsulates the pain, perseverance, and triumph of skating. If I ever needed motivation before a session, I'd watch that.

I love Mike Vallely’s kickflip in a line in his Public Domain part. He just gets it done as part of a sketchy line but it’s one trick after another and it’s great to watch.
i skated in middle school/high school and these guys were who i watched RELIGIOUSLY. so many memories going through my head right now. Kalis and Williams were my jam back then

Jeremy Wray is the king of kickflips. I saw him do a kickflip off a high embankment at the 118 demo over a uhaul truck. Not sure if anyone got that on video.
Word. When pros go off at demos it's crazy. Years ago I saw Jamie Thomas kickflip over a Honda from a little launch ramp. ...It's fun to watch local legends try to keep up with the pros too. 🤣

Not many people will remember this kickflip, but my favorite is in the friends section of Zero Thrill of It All at the 9:20 mark. I'm not even sure who it is, but it's a thing of beauty.

I’m not sure if Jason Lee was a pro back then, but some time in the late 80’s, I saw him do a kickflip over a kicker ramp that was butted up to the Oceanside stage, off the stage. He first had to clear the bottom of the kicker, which was sticking up 18” above the stage. When he rode across the stage and popped up over it, his board just looked like his shoes had magnets on them. He had cleared that height, stuck it to his feet, and dropped the remaining 6ft to perfectly land it. The board never moved once it had hit his soles. Thanks for the memory, Mr. Lee.
Best Kick-flip ever done was Tom Penny in the pool over the hip. But many of Tom’s kick-flips are still the best ever done.

Evan Smith’s Kickflip at the end of The Evan Smith Experience is one of the best. It’s sort of like the Kalis kickflip where it’s boned out and then he irons it out with the back foot. It’s also fucked because the gap is huge and he has to go up over a bar from flat. So beast.
My vote for best kickflip is a short clip from Mike Rosa in Logic 7 or 8 maybe. He kickflips a make-shift Home Depot step ladder ramp thing(which are pretty tall), it flips slowly and he catches it at the peak and just floats the whole thing effortlessly. The music syncing with it also complements it very well.

One of the best kickflips I've ever seen was Matty Hunt in Red Asphalt. First clip. Still blows me away to this day

Reynolds over the massive 5 block and Davis gap and in Arizona in this is skateboarding in the beginning of his part. Kerry Getz in jump off a building. Frank grewer over wallenberg, billy marks over the big ass set in good vs evil toy machine, Rodney Mullen obviously without a doubt, gonz anything mark Gonzalez , and let’s not forget the beast from the east straight out oF Lowell Massachusetts Dave Bachinsky kickflip el Toro… no specific order but these are all super memorable and to anyone I didn’t mention my apologies. Thank you everyone at nine club these posts are amazing and awesome for skateboardings history for future generations to come and shredddddd. Jon Dicksons switch flip is also one of the best

I always felt that Dustin Dollin's kickflips were underrated. Super fast flick and catches cleeeaaannnnn!
I am not really qualified to speak on these matters, just have an opinion. Dustin taking a shot, then bombing the front stairs of the bar in Baker3 is why he is my north star... I can relate to that mindset. Kickflips... not real sure I have a favorite, Treyflips on the other hand, you know I am going to say Dixon, same video, how he dose it while barely moving his feet and legs?... his control is real.
Loved Jason mentioned Stevie Williams & the connection to Jazz, when we used to just skate without thought out line's, impromptu doing one trick and seeing where it takes you to the next. Jason's comparison to Jazz with that is spot on!
The best kickflip I've seen was done in the video Fallen Ride the Sky by James Hardy. He does this tweaked and perfectly caught kickflip over a grass gap. In my 17 years of skating, that was one of if not the best kickflip i will ever seen.

When we were in highschool in the 1980's we built a 16 foot wide 9 foot tall half pipe in our backyard, which makes me in my 50's and I still love watching skate videos... I love the creativity in the tricks... so F'n cool!

How did these guys not mentiom Tom Penny and instead list all these other plebs? Tom in his prime had such lofty effortless KFs the is still considered the goat by some people today, he was lile the Bobby Fischer of skateboarding in that he was so far ahead of the competition in his prime but didn't peak for long.
All my favorite kickflips are from various Heath parts. That said, Ryan Decenzo's big double set kick flip in SF and Sheckler's Costco gap kickflip were insane.
