Honestly I love random new world whenever it works
To be fair its just a few random presets so if you keep rerolling eventually you'll get a "decent" one
I wish it had more presets (which to be fair I definitely download mods for,) but the base idea I'm a fan of. Actually discovering the continent(s?) instead of always knowing Newfoundland et all exists where they do IRL is cool.
I do say having to blindly click or have the New World spoiled to play there is annoying though.
To be fair you've been lucky with your new world, i tried it a couple of times but it was incredibly underwhelming because usually i spawned a couple of small islands and that was it like, 20-40 provinces and that was my ,,random new world"
What you should do is turn off Terra incognito in lobby which you can just do in the settings and then reload until you get a reasonable setup.

@@IronWolf123 It is. But if you actually want to play an interesting RNW-game you kinda have to tough it out. Often you just end up with blandness or things being unreasonable. Imo you also need the fantasy features enabled. I mean that is where most somewhat interesting RNW content is hidden.
I'm willing to bet there's not a single person who has ever done a world conquest in a random new world. You know what you have to do.

52:42, Laith, go to your diplo map mode, press z to raze the province, press enter, then press the core hotkey (I forget which one it is), then press enter again, and then the province is colored differently and repeat, might not be the most elegant, but it could be easier.

For the Spanish Personal Union empire, this could actually be an opportunity where supporting pretender rebels is worth. You can get a CB when they rise up that will let you cancel the PU for I think 50% warscore and let you take land, don't need to border or anything. With Pretender rebels they are reasonably reliable at rising up too, so a decent way to chunk into the Euroblobs.
Ok I must say, Laith had too much fun in this episode so we need to return to tribal Australia in the next episode!

Random new world was half the reason why i became so fascinated with this game. really adds to the imersion of playing as Portugal or spain tbh
This is a horde classic
I used the mod to improve the random new worlds and after a few reset, I was able to spawn 3 big continents with 5/6 areas full of nations and something like 13k development in total after colonizing all of it, it was really fun

Highest development isn't the way to tell where rebels rise up. Rebels will always rise up in the province they have the most unrest in. And development does not affect unrest. However, putting troops on a province reduces unrest in that province due to the "Friendly Troops" modifier.
Here's an example:
Let's say you recently conquered two provinces, that have the seperatists from the same country.
Let's also assume that you do anything that affects local unrest, like lowering autonomy, razing, automatic rebel suppression, etc. to both provinces, so the unrest stays equal.
If the rebels now tick to 100%, the province in which they rise up will be the randomly selected between the two. Unless one of the two provinces used to be a country capital, though I am not 100% sure that's true, I need to do more testing on that front. But if you put troops on one of the two provinces, or cover one of the two, but not the other, with automatic rebel suppression, that province will get the "Friendly Troops" modifier, which gives -0.25 provicial unrest per unit at full maintenance, up to a max of -5 unrest. Meaning the rebels will always rise up in the province that does not have troops, or automatic rebel suppression on it.
That also means that if two provinces with the same rebel type are very close together in dev, let's say 11 and 9, preemptively putting troops on the 11 dev province will cause them to rise up in the 9 dev province instead.
I'd invest in a trail cam that you can point to the fence and catch them on film.

The only thing that I dislike about randomized new world is that it's impossible to get great projects there. If they just added that one piece of functionality, it would've gone great.

I actually loved using random new world for a couple of years when the feature just came out. I stopped only because I no longer play colonial nations so it stopped mattering that much to me.

Man after only two game of imperator Rome I find it to be quite fun. #1 reason is late game when you’re strong or really any time you’re much stronger than your enemy all you have to do is raise your armies, max out the military budget, declare the war and set them on independent and they just win. 0 brain power required. I’ve only played to full EU4 campaigns but that very late game army management where you’re moving 10 60 stacks and the Ai is seamlessly controlling just as many but you have to pause every single tick to make sure everything is working…. Oooo that got me annoyed.

Laith, maybe contemplating your job choice might be a good idea, but please dont, because well, the random world stuff is fun for us, same as the wonderful Tiwi saga. So... I doubt the suffering will end, and the enjoyment with it, but thats a sacrifice I'm willing to make. 😄

Kinda niche, but with all those freshly colonise provinces you stole (which therefore have 0 overextension) you should have waited until you razed them all the way to 3 dev before coring them. Only downside is high autonomy in them, but boosting from the extra monarch points would have been most likely better.

Don't Rebels Spawn in the province with the highest unrest and Not with the highest dev? Because I feel like Laith sometimes positioned his armies in provinces with 0 unrest.
