35yo overweight dude here with the artistic movement range of a refrigerator, but after the first time watching this video I am confident I can learn this great dance if only to the basics. Thank you a million times!!!!
Way to go! Find a local social dance. Lots of fun and you meet lots of nice solo dancers and cool to practice as the places I choose switch partners and becomes very fun!
My impression of you guys teaching is that you truly care about the beginner learners. Slow, repetitions , encouragement & good tips & the music! You’re both amazing instructors & all participants will benefit & learn salsa without a doubt! Many, many thanks!!
You guys are really the best salsa teachers I’ve ever experienced. I used to teach salsa in the 1980’s. Great idea to start just with the footwork so as not to overload the dancers.
I appreciate your teaching so much. Especially I like that you face the wall, so that I can copy your left side with my left side, your right with my right. Otherwise I get distracted by the fact that we're facing the opposite way! This works for me, so thanks.
Bravo!!! This video so far is the best one I have found in UA-cam about Salsa for beginners. Thank you for being so specific and detailed together with necessary repetition. Love the way you guys teach and demonstrate!
After years trying to learn Salsa and my wife pushing me to learn salsa. FINALLY I FOUND THE CHANNEL THAT REALLY REALLY REALLY TEACH THE REAL BASICS I NEEDED. THANKS A LOT❤
You Guys have no idea how grateful i am for this video, Yesterday was my first salsa class and i'm not gonna say much but it was a disaster on my part💀💀😆😆, I'm practicing today with your video because tomorrow i have another class. This is exactly what i needed. Thank you very much!!!!☺☺
Haha I just love these videos . They are just done so well. Just a random white guy raised around Puerto Rican’s Mexican and Colombians I had no choice but to learn to dance bachata merengue salsa etc. but I come here anyway . These videos are lovely.
I used to dance on 2 salsa in Korea, but now I live in the midwest US and they only dance on 1. I was super confused at first and most instructors here didn't even know there was a difference between on 1 and on 2 salsa, so it's super refreshing to see you guys make that distinction. During Covid, I hope to learn on 1 salsa through your videos with my husband (beginner dancer). Thanks so much! We greatly enjoyed this video
Hi Yury, Salsa breaks on 1 Mambo breaks on 2 It’s a tricky distinction. Mambo has a distinct look because of the pause on 1 before the movement begins.
You 2 are great complementary teachers! To the young lady, I think the term 'standing leg' is the one you mighta wanted (like when u explain not to be stiff in the standing leg, and lifting the foot a bit helps that).
Thank you so much!! Finally some great, easy to understand, simple teachers here! I love how you explain every single movement, instead of starting with 3-4 movements right away as most teachers I've seen, do. It is so easy to get confused with them but not with you guys! Plus you guys are smooooth! And she is goooorgeous! 😍 I feel I'm doing this for the first time 😁🥰
I just started lessons in person... these we there exact steps and sequence they taught us... your approach was easier to follow... thank you for sharing!!!
I love the tip about leading with the body rather than with the legs. I've done Zumba for years, but I've never learned this concept. I feel like my posture and the feel and look of my movements are better than before. Thank you!
I took in person beginners Salsa class before Covid and this was a great refresher. It showed me how much muscle memory is important. I tried a hip hop video, which I've never tried, and I almost fell on my face! I felt comfortable with this re-introduction. And I found myself smiling and nodding my head when either of you asked how it was going. Nice job making me feel like I was in a live class!! Thank you!!
I did pretty well, but when the music started, I forgot how many times I danced each part and I definitely need more practice with the Left turn. Good directions. So much better than some of the others who go way too fast. thanks!
So much clear information in a video that didn't feel crammed or even long! Kudos, and thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of culture with the world.
I really like your videos! They have been helping out a lot. I started taking beginner lessons last week and the instructor wanted the class to practice every day till our next class. I had a hard time remembering everything after only barely learning the basic steps in an hour class so these have helped me a lot.
Thank you so so much! I've lived in the Caribbean almost ten years and never had it shown to me this well! I finally feel like I have a legitimate understanding of how to do the moves.
i was going nuts thinking i was missing a step. after rewinding A LOT i realized that five goes after three:D:D:D thanks for the tutorial! i really enjoyed it:)
Very impressive! I like how clear the instructions and demonstrations are! You make these steps so so so easy! I have been to several salsa classes and they were never that simple! I like the concept of moving the body or traveling with the feet just accompanying it in unison. It's so much better than moving the feet first and then the body follows. In the latter case, you'd now have to keep track of the feet movement and body movement as separate entities. Excellent videos! I'm a subscriber!
I just found you and really enjoyed this. I am in the Caribbean and taking a salsa class, but even though I’ve learned many of these steps, I really learned from this class. Many times there are so many people in a class and it can make it difficult if you don’t understand something. Or new people start and we go back to the very beginning, not for a long period, but enough you can loose momentum at times. I like that I can do this alone at home to practice without a partner.
That's Wonderful! We are glad you found this helpful. We can understand how it can be difficult in group classes to move forward when the class is catered to large groups. If you like this you might also like our online course! Just go to our website and there you will find it :)
I love this so much, so helpful. I just start twice salsa course, have problem with mu feet and hand movement. After watch this video, I feel on fire 🔥 and want to learn more Salsa dance. Thank you ❤💃
Thank you for this clear beginner tutorial! I have watched many videos, but yours is the most easy to follow. Looking forward to your next salsa steps videos!
Brilliant tutorial!! Perfect for beginners, broken down into easy chunks, and at the end of the tutorial you have a great little routine. I didn't realise how much I had learnt until it all came together at the end. Great workout too. I loved it, thank you :)
Great lesson! Really enjoyed this. Only thing I’d add is sometimes it’s hard to dance “backwards and in high heels” when you’ve just learned the steps in reverse. Telling the women to forget what they’ve practiced and use the right foot backwards instead of the left foot forward isn’t enough. If she were to dance her steps while he leads and dances (starting on the left) from the beginning, it would lock in the pattern. That’s probably not do-able in the studio, but when filming for video it would really help to at least differentiate the two techniques from the start.
Yes, That's right it's all about muscle memory. It aligns with our mind our body and also keep our posture healthy just like exercise. I love it. Thanks. I'm learning this tutorial slow and surely I'll. keep on dancing.
very nice tutorial. I am learning Salsa and watching these videos after salsa sessions helps in understanding small things. also i came to know that women's body moves more than men
This is just the right pace for beginners and the plain decor without fancy curated crap make is Feel like a real class. Really like the tips that were given by nicole eg about the fact that you have to move with your body and not just leg. I couldnt figure out why i didnt look like the dancers doing salsa and That's because i wasnt moving my body. Also the constant repetitiong without having to rewind is great. Great job
I love this. Joining a salsa class was one of my new years resolution for this year but I failed to get time to go for it's physical class. This might just be my solution. Thank you.
Such a great video that breaks it down into simple steps. While I knew many of these basics, the breakdown on the turns was super helpful. I subscribed because it's so good and want to see more.
One two three... five six seven... , one two three... five six seven... .This will be in my head all day and tomorrow and the day after tomorrow too. Then my trial salsa lesson 💃 Thank you very much for this lesson. Greetings from the Netherlands. We're all a bit stiff here. Everyone should take salsa lessons. 💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺
This is amazing, thanks a lot guys! One question I have is how much should the guy move? Should I focus on more minimalist movements with the hips and arms or does it not really matter (maybe this is covered in more advanced lessons lol)
Hey Alexander! Ad ia salsa teacher for 12 years my best advice for beginners, and also an answer your question: 1. Especially as a leader before worrying about the movements of the hips and such- It is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to master the steps and the leading first, Don't practice until you get them right (maybe once) *practice until you cannot get them wrong* I hope it was helpful!
I’ve watched quite a few videos now on the basic steps but yours was the best. Such clear instructions and done at a speed which was easy to follow. Thanks
very easy and slow, thank you.:) we had a class b4 in my town but we were taught so many moves in a night, cldnt remember most of them,i gave up after tht .now i decided to learn at home, really what i needed.also thnk u 4 d video angle, better to get the moves ;)
Thank you for this. Your explanations are clear and easy to follow. However it seems to me that the music is out of sync with the steps. I tried dancing on 1-2-3 and 5-6-7 with the music, but I was moving to a different rhythm than you.
I love this so much. I'm 52 and have always wanted to learn salsa but never gotten around to it. I tried a few instructional videos before this one, but they all moved too fast for me, especially on the turns. Thank you for taking this slow. I I really enjoyed it!
I dont understand how people say they cant dance. It is just a lack of minimal effort. This tutorial is so easy, it is basically like walking. Honestly everyone can dance.
If not for your videos I have no chance learning Salsa Thank you Thank you … I was going to quite my salsa class then I found this video and it is becoming fun now Big Love From Africa 😚🙏🙏🙏💃
I gotta say this is one of, if not the, absolute best description and illustration of salsa basics. I'm not a dancer at all, but this makes sense to me
Much better than my lesson in the local group class. Very easy to understand and follow although I’ll need to watch this many times. Looking forward to the course.

So effective to turn your back to the camera! So much easier to follow for dance challenged people like me.
yay! happy to hear it was helpful!
As a female I love watching her move the hips and arms. A very good example to follow.
thanks for the kind words!
You guys are really the best salsa teachers I’ve ever experienced. I used to teach salsa in the 1980’s. Great idea to start just with the footwork so as not to overload the dancers.
I’m being cheeky but Nicole has such expressive hip movements so the shifts are easier to anticipate ! This is fabulous!
haha thanks!
You look amazing 🤩
I appreciate your teaching so much. Especially I like that you face the wall, so that I can copy your left side with my left side, your right with my right. Otherwise I get distracted by the fact that we're facing the opposite way! This works for me, so thanks.
thank you! :D
You are the best teachers. The way you explain is amazing. Ugh grateful for these
thank you so much!!
Yesss!
Best beginner Salsa tutorial ever. I only knew the first basic and the cucaracha step (side to side step) from other teachers, thank you for this.
Thank you so much! glad you enjoyed it! :)
Bravo!!! This video so far is the best one I have found in UA-cam about Salsa for beginners. Thank you for being so specific and detailed together with necessary repetition. Love the way you guys teach and demonstrate!

Thank you Sylvia! :D
It’s going to sound like a ridiculous tip, but if you practice this in the shower the splashing sound of your feet helps you get in the rhythm faster😅
Love this!
Hopefully there’s bottom rubber grips to stop a falling in the shower🙏🏾🤞🏾
So much clear information in a video that didn't feel crammed or even long! Kudos, and thanks for sharing this beautiful piece of culture with the world.
ahh i love it when personality shines through 14:40 amazing basics. thankyou
😁 Glad you enjoyed it!

Hell yeah, feels good when you go through all steps without fail.
Now the hard part is trying to not look so stiff!!
🎉🎉🎉
i was going nuts thinking i was missing a step. after rewinding A LOT i realized that five goes after three:D:D:D
thanks for the tutorial! i really enjoyed it:)
That's great! Salsa can definitely be tricky at first because of the way we count

thank you monica! so glad you enjoyed this tutorial! :D
The best basic Salsa video this is my go to and this is the one I sent to my friends and family

So good, loving practicing each day xx
Yay! Practice Practice Practice 🙌🏼
...⚘👏👏👏⚘... I think these teachers, know, what are the most beginner problem when they start to learn ....
😄 Thanks for watching!
This is amazing, thanks a lot guys! One question I have is how much should the guy move? Should I focus on more minimalist movements with the hips and arms or does it not really matter (maybe this is covered in more advanced lessons lol)
Hey Alexander! Ad ia salsa teacher for 12 years my best advice for beginners, and also an answer your question:

It is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to master the steps and the leading first,
Don't practice until you get them right (maybe once)
*practice until you cannot get them wrong*

we are so happy to hear you found them helpful. We are also sorry to hear about your inperson experience, it can be challenging in group classes
Thank you for this. Your explanations are clear and easy to follow. However it seems to me that the music is out of sync with the steps. I tried dancing on 1-2-3 and 5-6-7 with the music, but I was moving to a different rhythm than you.
You're not crazy. I can't believe that more people haven't commented about this. Either that or you and I have no rhythm.
I love this so much. I'm 52 and have always wanted to learn salsa but never gotten around to it. I tried a few instructional videos before this one, but they all moved too fast for me, especially on the turns. Thank you for taking this slow. I I really enjoyed it!
