    Loved this! Can you do a “If I knew then, what I know now” kind of financial video? Like a start to current on your finance journey! That’d be cool 💚

    Love it!! Thanks for being so transparent. I'm still confused as to what sinking funds are LOL. i think my brain just doesn't want to work right now haha. Imma ask Alexa! lol

      Sinking funds are basically setting aside little bits of money every month for an upcoming large purchase which can be anything from a vacation, car tires, deductibles etc. Let's say you know you need new car tires for winter- instead of stressing about the $1,000 when you buy them, try putting aside $100/month and it won't be as stressful!

    Sinking funds are such a great idea! I especially like the Home Fund you mention, always good to set aside cash for a potential housing need.

    This is so strange Carter, but I especially love the colouring of your footage in this video, maybe it's the hair refresh but I'm getting some clean retro vibes. And of course, the content is top notch as per usual. Just love it when you get chatty as I need everything properly broken down too - including information about your finances apparently. hehe. No seriously though, love this and love your 'extra' finance videos! xx

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 роки тому +1

      Aw thank you!! It's the same colour filter I use on all my videos but glad you noticed it!!! 🥰

      @@CarterSullivan after years I still cannot color grade my footage and just change it up too much so clearly need a tutorial from you there, however, related to UA-cam, in your last reset (or maybe the one before that!) you went more in-depth on closing out for the month on your business side. As a teeny-tiny UA-camr, those videos are so helpful too, but if you'd be able to chat about actually setting things up sometime it would be amazing. It's a big thing to navigate when you make about a fiver a month lol, but still would like to start putting things in place like a business bank account (most I've found charge at least a fiver so that's the income gone lol), expenses, equipment and things little people like me haven't thought of as we're starting out ;) etc.
      Anyway, no need to reply, I know you're busy - but this is information I'm forever trying to piece together from across your videos myself, so just some thoughts hehe xx

    When I moved to Canada it was so crazy to me that you have to pay a fee to have a basic chequing account because that's not something we have in the UK! That's how I discovered Neo and I love it.
    Thanks for sharing your money set-up. I'm the same, I love having different places for different savings, etc!

    • @CarterSullivan

      Wow so interesting to see how other countries do it! I also agree, I don't think they should charge for basic chequings account... you kinda need one to live!

    First off, loved the video! Do you have any advice on where to start if you just have a checking and savings account through a general bank, but want to get better with your finances, set-up in general and organizing? I guess just a general place to start and where to go from there. Thanks!!

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 роки тому +1

      Honestly just educate yourself on other banks/accounts! Alot is trial and error and finding what works for you. Some "online" banks offer super high savings interest but to me I'd rather have my money in abit of a lower interest bank account and have access to it immediately! I would make a plan of the goals you want to accomplish short & long term and then set up accounts accordingly! Ex. Paying off debt, certain savings goals or investing

    Is a sinking fund something you save for but inevitably have to use ?

    • @CarterSullivan
      @CarterSullivan  2 роки тому

      I think ultimately yes but depends on the person! I know I'll use my Christmas present sinking funds in December however my pet emergency one I hope I don't have to use it/it doesn't have a timeline to use!

    I don't know where you live but $1100 bi weekly would be fantastic. I make only $450 biweekly (small town, crappy jobs) and that's with a B.S in Healthcare Management ( I can't even get a part time receptionist job in the area I live). So I'm doing all this research on multiple income streams and setting up my youtube channel. I found your video when I searched for bank accounts and income streams because I plan to have different accounts, one for my job and one just for those multiple income streams that I hope will pay off. Thanks for the video!

      I live in Ontario, Canada. Keep in mind that's only part time- I work 3 days/week and make $1100 biweekly. If I was working fulltime it would be closer to $1600-1800/biweekly. Hope you enjoy my content. Feel free to DM me on IG if you have any questions!
