Brought back from near death, great job Dr. Buddy. When completed, you'll be able to open an FT-101 museum. 😊
Thanks Mr B. Yep, may have to do that.
Really good video Buddy. I watched in it's entirety and enjoyed. Thanks very much.
Thanks for watching Ernie, glad you enjoyed it.
Super fun. That was great. A great way to start my Sunday morning. Thank you. It's appreciated for sure.
Thanks for watching
Buddy do you think you can show how to do an alignment on this radio? Which trimmers, etc. I know it's crazy but I've been asking since 2016 when you were going to do a multiple part FT-101 series of videos, including an alignment, but you never were able to get around to it. You're the only one I trust and have learned so much from through the years. Just show us visually how to align this rig. Great video as always!
Yes, I have already started the alignment on the 101B and posted a few videos on Patreon. They will be coming to UA-cam soon. I am also going to do an alignment on this one.
@@TheRadioShop I can't thank you enough and I know that I speak for countless others that will benefit from your craft for decades to come Sir. Thank you!
Nice job! good to see the radio on the way back to operation.
Thanks Bill
Nice seeing you do the repairs on this Buddy! Hope you are all doing fine! Thanks for the video!!
Thanks Scott. Doing better and hope you are fine.
Hi Buddy. Its great to see another video. I learn a lot.
Another great video Buddy, I have one of those FT-101 and a FT-101E. Now that makes me want to get them both on the air. Hope you do a complete alignment on these as I think that would help a lot of us that love the fox tango series. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Lyle, I have already made several videos on the alignment, posted on Patreon and coming to UA-cam soon.
This was really informative for me. Loved seeing how you worked through it all. Great to see something like this living and breathing again too.
I’m taking this alllll in! Thank you !
Excellent breakdown! I still have my FT101EE from the 1990 Dayton Hamvention.
Thanks and cool deal on the 101
Another great video. Thank you for letting us watch, Buddy. I used to have an FT-101 E and wish I still had it. Great rig. Looking forward to the next one. 73 de K7RMJ Frank ..
Appreciate it Frank. Will be more on this one before long.
Sweet rig. Good luck in the restore can't wait to see it rockin and rollin
Thanks
Congrats!
Thanks for the show...... It's always a learning experience to sit here and watch you... the only draw back is we aren't able to talk to you when your in progress.... on second thought maybe that's not a good idea...
Thanks Pierre. That would be cool and I thought about doing a live stream on this one, but really hard to do.
Love these repairs, good health to you and keep them coming. Hope to see some cb radio gear as well. 😊
Thank you very much
Great video. Good radio worth repair.
Looking good Buddy. I think you will have no problem bring this ole girl back to peak performance. Will be a nice addiction to your 101 series collection. 73 Joe
Thanks Joe. It really surprised me just how good of shape this one was in.
Great video Buddy. Neat to watch you troubleshoot circuits. 73 de KB7ICI.....Bill
Thanks Bill
Nice job Buddy!
Thanks Bill
Good deal!!!
Great to see that old 101 slowly coming back to life. Glad you've got another worker - does that complete your collection?
This rig completes the whole series of the 101's. Thanks for stopping in
I Have a FT 501 came with 6JS6 and it works great with 6KD6.
Yes the 6KD6 will work, has 33 watt plate dissapation over the 6js5 which has 30. Also you can sub the 6lb6
nice, I always learn something watching your videos. tnx jerry...w0xu
Appreciate that Jerry
Good to see again Buddy, keep up the good work
Thanks Jeff
Learned a ton in this video.
And yes the 6js6 is none to be found in Europe. I’ve searched far and wide.
Really getting hard to find, even here in the states. Thanks for watching
Very enjoyable! Mine is still on the bench awaiting a full alignment video from you. kn7sfz
Thanks Richard and posting that soon. It is already started on Patreon.
@@TheRadioShop Thanks Buddy and yep, already watched the two on Patreon and been hopping from foot to foot for the next in the series! 🙂
Hey Buddy glad your getting use from the signal generator. This is Dave. been a while my friend.
Hey Dave, good to see you. Yep the HP SG is still working fine and use it more than any of my others. Such and easy to use piece of test gear, Thanks
I thought that screen looked weird when you put the AF board in. I had been looking at my own soon-to-be-fixed (also no suffix) '101 a few weeks ago... I heard a "fat arc" noise after about 10 minutes operation and am still looking for evidence of what happened before re-powering it!
Wonder if a cap went, or dust in a variable cap.
@@TheRadioShop I think I probably need to investigate the germanium transistors in the bolt-on 12V inverter pack. They are notorious for failure after so many years!
Love this, Buddy ! Haven’t started restoring my FT-101 but this video will be a guidepost for my effort. Thanks !! De WB4YDL
Thanks James and good luck on your resto.
Man that was fun,, it's been a long long time since we had a good hour long diagnosis and repair video !!
Cool, yes was sort of a long video but was a pleasure doing it.
I have a early one as well as a ft101 B. I like them better than the 101e radios. Better switches. I dont have 160m on my early 101 but i have 11m breaker breaker good buddy. I think these radios were marketed to the 11m crowd
Nice video. What do you do with the units that you successfully fix and tune up?
Thanks, This one will complete my personal collection. I now have all the 101's in this series.
Is there a Part 2 to this thing? I hope so......
At 44:00/54:49: When looking for power output with Rigol SA , how did you couple (blocking capacitor, external attenuator)In the signal path so as not damage the Rigol?
There are several ways to do this. In this video I am using a Bird meter with sampling port to the Rigol. Also if you noticed the IRF was only using the antenna port and was seeing the signal fine. At times I put a small antenna on a piece of coax to the Rigol to sniff the RF.
question do you have to neaturize the tubs when they are replaced?
You have a valve radius to sell?
No sir. Most are from my collection.
who works on these yaesu anymore I got a 101EE needs repaired
Fixing set with many important parts missing is not a good idea...
how can i contact you
