Wowzer, even with this rough by our standards live recording you can hear his talent and ability. Thanks for sharing this. I'll have to look for more of his work. I like his Boogie and stride. I'll have to finish watching tomorrow and see if he plays blues in this film.

He is one of the most remarkable pianists I've ever met and a great inspiration to me personally. He definitely does some classic blues tunes in these videos. Bob learned much of his craft first-hand from the great African-American jazz and blues musicians who played in Detroit when he was growing up. There's no one else like him...

I'm trying to figure out how he (and you) maintain that left hand for that long.
Any time I've tried this, even for a short time, my left hand is in pain.
Especially those blues octaves. Is there a secret?
I've been playing for 30 years, went to college for piano, and I find the Waldstein easier from a stamina standpoint.
When I try to stride my whole body sways around. It just doesn't make sense in the world of physics.

'Caravan' dosen't make the transition to rag time gracefully- iT doesn;t make the transition AT ALL

I COMPLETELY disagree. First of all, this is not a "ragtime" version whatsoever. It is stride piano, a form of jazz. Perhaps it sounds better with a full band? I don't know... I suppose people are allowed to disagree!

@@adamgswanson 1st I don't need permission to have MY opinion or to express it. I know rag time is related to jazz-you taught me. Stride, I can't identify-like the person who says 'I don't know art-just what I like & I like ragtime & stride. Had I your training, talent, aility & ambition (ambition is NOT a criticism-it's a necessity)
