Fun fact Roxi! They are actually different desserts. While they do have similar origin tales, where they differ is their main ingredients. Macaron's is almond meal where as macaroon's main is shredded coconut.
You should probably check out Adam Ragusea’s video on the dessert and he even includes sources on pronunciation
That jewellery box was used in India earlier so much my mom had two of them🤪 exactly same types one was like this drawer one and other was like three story to open up.
