What are you tying the ropes to on your Kayak? Can't really tell since the camera is behind you not facing anyone while they are tying on. Thanks! love to try this! What about a SUP going through locks?
I understand this an older video so I might not get an answer, but I do have a question. I was looking at some directions for biking/walking somewhere on apple maps and it had me go over the Emsworth locks and dams, is this an actual route i can take?
Yes, the USACE will open a lock for even one kayak. However, small personal watercraft are Fourth in line to pass through, behind govt, large commercial barges. So if you see a line of boats waiting to lock, sometimes it’s faster for a kayaker to pull his craft out and walk around the dam.
Pittsburgh is such a gorgeous city, it feels like a big town
I remember so clearly going through the lock system in 1970’s. So much fun going to Three Rivers Point from New Kensington.
Thanks for the important info., and for such a clear demonstration.
Very professional presentation. Clear instructions. It is very helpful. Thank-you!
That’s so fucking crazy

2 questions:
Would they really do all that for 3 kayakers?
Why do you need to be connected via the rope?
+darkdancerman to keep from floating out into the middle of the lock, the current can get very bad in a lock

Lock and dam below Parker, PA (the northernmost on the Allegheny), last I heard is slated for demolition.
That's unfortunate.
Idiots on kayaks should not be in the lock.
Idiots on keyboards should not be on youtube.
