The sheer amount of control and nuance techter has makes it my favorite class. But trying to figure out everything on my own without a baseline of information is hard. So thank you for helping me confirm and expand my techter life
Thank you Cathy! I am a smooth brain Techter so this guide made me rethink my play style. I'll definitely look into the text version of your guide as well.
I've been waiting for this! I used Cathy's Techter guide on base like it was my freakin bible. SUPER happy that she made this video. I dont even play techter anymore, but I'm STOKED that this guide now exists for NGS too. Thank you, Cathy!!!!!!!!!!!!
You're welcome! I'm always glad to help! ❤
What classes do you play with now
Mostly Braver with a Slayer or Fighter sub. Depends on what I'm doing, but normally Braver/Slayer or Braver/Fighter.@@hades-sw6xx
@@zenpowersgaming5511 hoe does slayer help braver ?
Beautiful video! I've been waiting for this for a long time! All the edits and additions to the video add so much, too! Maybe I'll finally be able to play Techter properly now. Thank you so much for the video, it's by far your best one yet!
Hello it's me your number 1 fan =) Can't wait to see more epic goose videos from you!!
Wonderful and insightful guide as usual, Cathy ❤
Great guide and a great video to go along with it. I'd say that this is not only a perfect starting place for any wand-curious person but also a great rundown for any returning Techer player looking to freshen up their knowledge and even an experienced player might pick up a few things they haven't known or thought about. I expected this video to happen eventually, and I knew it'd be as high quality as your vanilla Techer guide has been. We might not be the most popular class, but I'd say that not many NGS classes have a guide as good as this and a representative as hardworking!
Very helpful for someone trying to find their groove. I like the sound of techter and I’m going to love it by the looks of this😄 Thank you!
Great video!, I read the doc as well but this video helped show some of the information that was harder to think about purely theoretically.
As someone who has a ton of fun with the class but not the time to level up and experiment as much as I'd like it's very nice to have someone lay out the possibilities so I know how I should focus on things to play the way I want to!
Oh my Emperappy! Just a few days ago I was thinking about spicing up my game experience by switching from Force to Techter a bit, but as always just feels so tedious finding good and up to date guides with details even my single neuron can understand. Now this video? This is exactly what I needed. Thank you so so so much and Kudos to you.
Glad I could help! ❤
Had been putting off watching the video for way too long, but it's so well done and informative. Also, huge congrats for hitting that milestone with your content and thank you for everything you put out. You've easily become one of my favorite content creators so thank you again.
Charged grants + skip spam comes close to the swift smash in terms of dps due to grants glitter becoming active. You can setup glitter by either casting the compound technique or performing 3 uncharged grants. Once setup you don't need to set it up again as the charged grants (re)triggers glitter on its own. Excellent for building pursuit and building compounds.
That is definitely a alternative combo one can use if they wanna build Compound meter at a faster rate. Just Charging Swift Smash works too as they're pretty close in DPS.
And if you spam Encore jump its unfortunately better to use Charged Swift Smash instead.
I really wish Glitter would see some techter specufic improvements.
Actually, this combo is really good during Wand Lovers. Just a Shame WL doesnt have a shorter Cooldown
I really appreciated the detailed explanation of both downs, I sorta knew what I was doing already but there were a few things I didn't (and didn't know that I didn't know but I'm also a filthy casual). Also the Elemental Gimmick's I had no idea how to effectively use them but now knowing they work with Compound Techniques I'm going to give them a shot! Thanks!
I feel that this guide is helpful, and these things are useful to know whether using techter as main or subclass. For instance imagine a force techter or a techter force either way you stack it you have a wide magic kit between the talis, the wand, and the rod! With the rod you wave a barrier follows, with the talis it's a mobile defense DPS, with the wand you are the barrier with your parries. Not to mention the various ways techniques can be applied! And that's not exactly covering the compound techniques yet. The only thing that would add more to this kit depends on if you want to not get knocked back, you want photon power recovery, or you want to capitalize on going ham with that sweet photon blast the compound techniques, the charge into uncharged or vice versa! Or perhaps you're more interested in channeling the raw elements into your wand to make an elemental mace? My point is there's a full tool kit to explore here that these two synergize on! Of course there's some things that only can be done with one or the other as main class- primarily if you want to be aoe support force can main that but if you want the enemy to play to your beat there's wand centric skills that answer to that. They both share the talis which I'm pretty sure means a elemental phantasia which can extend into a turret.
This was an amazing guide
I only had scratched the surface of the gameplay. Thank you for putting the time and effort to build this.
After having taken some time away from ngs a little while after kvaris released it's nice to have a guide to see all the new things added to techter and just refresh myself on some of the info as well great vid can't wait to see what's in the future
I love waker sub if I'm looking to not die xD
Very great guide and thanks for making it.
Thank you for your comprehensive guide :)
That Mega Man ZX music in this @14:34 👀
Also that digimon world next order music too. Good taste
Yis~
Honestly my Megaman Music Library only consists of the Gigamix CD. I should honestly expand it for more BGM. Many PSO2 tracks also give Megaman vibes so it's a good fit~
Been very excited for this video! I've been curious on trying techter recently so this is a big help
Was looking to try wand out for the first time, this will come in handy, much appreciated!
I'd like to report back that Wand is probably my favorite tech weapon now.
A good class to play and pretty fun to play
Only just started playing it just to see how it’s changed ❤
Maybe I should make a guide to bouncer since it's my favorite class. While in PSO2 Classic Late-game subclass weapons are weak than just having a Successor subclass like Phantom, NGS changed combat, making everything seems somewhat viable. From Three-Swords for Mob kills to help your team focus on bigger threats to the Megaman combo of Jet-boots/gunslashs to focus on stunting bosses to even going slayer for critical hits.
Great vid, Cathy! It shows that NGS has more under the hood than what most players would think.
This video made me play techter and im loving it, thank you ❤❤
Surprisingly good guide. Rare breed in this community.
This has renewed my interest on Techer since I was disappointed on how boring it was at launch compared to how fun it was on PSO2 Vanilla.
Cathy knowledge drop let's go!
Turns out i was playing very wrong. Time to up that dps
This is probably a stupid question but is that your real voice or in or the fact or a translator But whichever it is you're quite articulate and seemed to choose the best words to get your point across huge fan of that communication and whether the voices say I or your truly yours it's easy on the ears
It's not my real voice unfortunately. It's a Text To Speech program that uses AI to sound this good. I just feed it my script and tweak the sound along the way.
If I used my real voice my videos wouldn't be watchable lol
Been playing Techter as my first class in NGS, and everyone told me "Talis isn't worth it so just focus on learning Wand!" and I feel so lost half the time, like I'm not fully utilizing the class to it's full potential. The info in the video really helps me understand what I could do better but I gotta say, maybe its a better idea to stick to an easier class first to learn the nuances of NGS's mechanics because whew lol.
At least if you're wanting to be a healer/support waker extends the longevity of restasignes/reversasignes. I remember back in Rayjord how often I'd have to restock on them because of needing to heal others so much. XD
What a coincidence that I was planning on Focusing Techter Wand when I alt tabed and saw this on my Feed XD
If you have any questions feel free to ask!
great video i just got into Techter and was lookng for help
This as sooooooo good. I'm definitely maining techer now. However I would love to see your controller set up! I have hard time making techer work well on controller.
And on that note, going back to look at your bar, where is your weapon action? I know you use it because you talk about. I really wanna know your set up! It looks much more efficient than mine.
I dont have my WA on the weapon pallete because i use a controller attachment that gives me 4 backside buttons. I make them mimic certain buttons like R3 and then chamge R3 to be a universal WA button
Can we get Microsoft Sam instead next time? I like my TTS to have some class.
Yes I just recently found out on my own that the fighter down damage doesn't work on broken parts Downs on Niles Vera do Quest after I noticed the lack of damage increase I went back read the skill and it clearly says improves damage on Elemental down and physical Downs which is a definite WTF also explaining why daggers feel so weak on the dual Quest I know this is detective video but bringing up that fighter Downs ability really struck a Triad commonly known as a chord
Not sure why I laughed as hard as I did, but those first 5 seconds really got me lol.
I've used techter talis since starting the game but seeing the damage difference I've decided to practice using a wand instead
Q:
-- I've already started building my talis weapon.Would using a wand as a multi weapon and using wand skill set have a difference in damage output instead of using the wand as a main weapon? should I or what's a good multi for wand.
-- -Let's say you're against a training dummy/normal enemy. Without considering blocks and dodges, what would a usual combo/ skill rotation be? What about against bosses on downed phase. ( sorry if this was included in the video, I just couldn't conclude a concrete rotation with it. I also tried watching einhander's video but I find it hard to follow without explanations)-
Edit: Found a same question you already answered on the comments.
- on a damage phase, how would a wand combo compare to jet boots' jet intensity/combo.
Thank you for the very detailed guide. I'm really learning a lot and making my gameplay better.
Glad I can help!
So, Jet Intensity is about 411ish DPS. By default that's stronger than purely using Charged Swift Smash which is our strongest attack. However, while charging up Swift smash, it is possible to make use of Encore Jump add-on and this tiny boost in power pushes Wand over Jet Intensity.
If you don't want to use that (and nobody can blame you) a smart use of Compound Techniques during Downs also beats Jet Intensity use. Compound Techniques have a DPS of 550-ish which outperforms JB by a long shot.
However Jet Boots are still the strongest Multiweapon choice for Wands. The DoT effect you get from Surging Impulse is stronger than Talis Weapon Action's DoT, when applied during downtime it is free damage. Additionally Revoke Pursuit puts us at the perfect distance to use Fierce Wave and the damage doesn't fall off when you swap back to a different weapon which seems to be an oversight but people saw a lot of success in increasing their DPS with it.
Supposedly we'll get new skills for long range weapons next week (presumably Talis) since the devs finally admitted there is a gap in performance between melee and ranged weapons (community often calls this ranged tax). In case of Talis new skills are definitely welcome since that weapon feels like its 1 year behind wand in all aspects. Hopefully those new skills will be good, we know literally nothing about them at the moment.
wait..the compound technique builders stack with both force and techter?!
Yep! You'll build compounds faster than you know what to do with them! hehe
@@Cathy5614 oh wow!! Good looking out!
Will probably have to rewatch it later with ngs open. For now though i didn't teally catch/understood how the photonic fury charge works. Best way to charge it is swift smash with wand element? And how do you trigger it, as it randomly happens to me, when blocking or countering.
Lost interest in Talis, didn't really use it much outside of the weapon action. Before Kvaris was the last time i tried it as main weapon, both on force and techter. Found it lackluster and the PP consumption was a bit high too, might be because i wasn't playing it right 😂.
Guess ill have to rethink my subclass, currently on force, because the PP recharge is crazy.
So, Photonic furies occur on most attacks (exceptions being step attack, not to be confused with Step counter, and dive attack) some attacks trigger multiple furies. For example Wand Technique Skip Beat triggers 2 furies as the attack counts as 2 attacks. Same with Normal Attack 4. Then Wand Guard Reflection causes extra furies when you block attacks with Guard frames. Things like Swift smash, weapon Action etc.
You dont really charge them you just control their element by charging techniques.
Talis actually got a significant inprovement to its PP economy in Kvaris. Prior to that I didnt even consider Talis playable tbh.
You dont have to stress about subclasses too much tbh. ♥️ Force is perfectly capable its just 1% less DPS than Slayer or Bouncer.
@@Cathy5614 Ah I see now. I thought it was only the guard deflection being considered Photonic Fury, as after that discharge wand loses its elemental charge.
Skip Beat is such a nice technique though. Only recently learned it and it makes Techter much easier to close in on targets (that was my main problem before learning this photon art).
After 9 months I got much better with wand, but recently it seems that the wand element change/charge takes longer (not only because of the TechArt customization).
What I'm not confused now that I can keep really good track of DPS, I can rarely break 6000 DPS (basing it on DFS UQ), in malevolent and purple triggers it's only half of that if I get lucky. (Einea Neutral Armor and Flugelgard Wand , with an overall 161 potency it says). A while back made another character on another ship and mainly use melee classes (Hunter, Braver and Fighter). I use the current event weapons so that might be the cause for easily doing close to 6000 DPS with 140 potency. THOUGH I SWEAR ALL THESE CLASSES SEEM TO HAVE AN EASIER WAY TO COUNTER, braver especially.
Yeah Wand counter isnt that great. I really hope it gets addressed in october
Wouldn't Jet Intensity be a better in downed phase? Or is it only good if only we are out of pp?
Nope! with the recent Compound Technique buffs we wanna use those instead. That, and a lot of quests straight up punish you for using subclass weapons, like ARKS Records (Trinitas R.2 this week) and Duel Quests with the Defi augments.
Amazing guide wow. I got engrossed watching it all lmao
Thanks for the effort ^_^
Does anyone know the best sub classes for, slayer, ranger and fighter? I play multiple classes, that's why I'm asking.
Cant say with 100% certainty but Bouncer seems to be the king of subclasses, esp against enemies with breakable parts
What voice program are you using for the on screen character?
voicemaker.in/
It requires a 5€ monthly payment but is well worth it for me!
@Cathy5614 I don't know what that converts to in my currency, but sounds pretty decent.
Thanx.
I didnt know Techter was so conplex, this is hard to understand, but if i watcg it enough i will, i mainly use spells as attacks, so i was wondering what is the best fir spells, but also gaining PP
Talis?
(Im new)
On Techter you shouldn't be using Techs as your primary attacks.
Wand attacks are your bread and butter.
@@Cathy5614 oh, okay, I'm lvl 80 now :3
@@Cathy5614 thank you for telling me
So I understand the skills a lot better now but I was curious if you had a rotation?
For example I know how skills link but how do I make the most out of them for bosses, downs and mobs?
The gist of it is as follows
- Use Wave crash/Charged Swift Smash in order to build Revoke Pursuit
- - Chose PA depending on situation. Go into Skip attack combo if PP recovery is needed (PA > PA > N3 > N4)
- After revoke pursuit, perform a "tech phase"
- - Use Skip Beat after a charged Technique of your Tech Phase in order to perform Skip Beat
- - - Only go into Normal Attack 4 after Skip Beat if you need PP badly
- Repeat
Grants and foie gimmicks are skip-able.
Using compounds allows you to skip a tech phase when aligned with Revoke Pursuit but matching elements isn't necessary since you will build compounds faster than they cooldown expires.
Ofc this doesn't apply to every encounter but that's why I design my guides the way I do. I'd rather explain the tools so you can figure out optimal rotations by yourself rather than be told what to do. Just today i found out about a new opener for Dark Falz Solus I'd have never considered by watching someone else play!
@@Cathy5614
That makes a lot of sense! I think having you explain it a bit further has helped me to conceptualize it. I’ll definitely take those tools and get to work. Thank you!
Does the song at 17:02 have a name? Sounds familiar.
Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth "We Bring Glory to Zaxon"
So there is no typical healer in ngs? like for example the priest, druid or shaman who actively heal themselves or party members?
Nope. Your heals are AoE but they operate on the same finite source as other classes and its usually more conveniant for everyone to heal themselves. The only time I go out of my way to heal a party member is when I hear in VC they ran out of heals themselves but that only happens when learning a new endgame boss fight. NGS doesnt have the holy Trinity of MMO classes, everyone is essentially a different flavor of DPS.
@@Cathy5614 ah good to know, thank you very much.
Where can I find the cast for AoE healing? I can't find it in the gear sub pallet and the skill tree... I just found the different elemental techniques but no healing
@@Shamanzki its Restafield Te on skill tree. IT turns your restasigne into an AoE heal
@@Cathy5614 oh I figured it out, you can only AoE heal with Force or Techter if it's selected as your main class
Hearing that Phantasy Star Saga music you put in the support section kinda makes me sad.
I've been checking your dps sheet and the talis section refers to "step canceling" but I don't see any mention of that in the video. What is step canceling about and how am I supposed to interpret the dps numbers associated with it?
I mention it when talking about the Weapon Action I think. But to elaborate on it, step cancelling refers to a attack animation being cancelled with a sidestep. This shaves off 0.2s of attack animation without impacting damage dealt. Which in turns means that when you avoid damage successfuly with a step your DPS spikes shortly. Techniques have something similar with Weapon Action cancelling on both Rod and Wand and if you ever wondered why Rod WA Counter and Talis Step Counter had such small DPS on paper it's because tech cancelling is supposed to pick up the slack.
@@Cathy5614 Ok, but then this does not account for the 18 frame dash? Is there a way to cancel this dash into a PA or technique to get advantage out of this?
@@TrainingMacro the dash is taken into account in the "step counter" portion. Outside Leciel on days with normal attack buffs this isnt really exploitable unfortunately
How did you do 40k damage at 1:56? I have nebver seen that high damage before!
Oh, that's just a Crit in a Duel Quest. Duel Quest specific Augments boost damage by 7% each but work only in duel quests. It's definitely not my strongest hit though, Against Dark Falz Solus my PB can Crit as high as 106k on its final swing during a Break with Blight Rounds. Techter loves its big numbers~
Kind of a stupid question, but does the new Verschmelz series benefit from the Slayer abilities as a subclass?
There are no stupid questions, only stupid answers uwu
Verschmeltz doesn't benefit much from Slayer unfortunately. Slayer's 5% crit rate roughly translates to 2,9% average damage increase on other weapons but on Verschmelz that bonus is nullified. Recovering 2pp on pretty much every attack is cool but pales in comparison to Bouncer on bosses that have breakable parts.
The only thing I really want out of techter is shifta and deband... I hate that it's main class only otherwise I'd do fo-tech I really want to learn how to use tech correctly so that I can be cool and such. I wanna be able to glide around the battle field laying waste to everything and giving buffs and heals. Namely because I intend to do a tech user LP and don't want to look like a clown.
Techer it was supposed to be a support class but it land 4th slot OP class
I hate our PA names because I keep getting them mixed up. I'm smashing my wand into the ground twice swiftly, why is that one not Swift Smash.
Times were so simpler when Swift Smash was called Heavy Hammer~
Would you recommending setting up a few different palettes for elements?
Yeah! I also use different loadouts to quickly swap between a few presets but how you design your pallets is gonna have to depend on what's comfortable for you.
Little trick, equip the same weapon multiple times, and attach to each one different elements!
Cathy put more effort into this video than SEGS does on NGS
Been playing pure Talis techter for a few hundred hours due to it being very disability friendly on controller for my hands, but after seeing some of the wand tech i think im gonna have to suck it up lol cause ive been slacking at 2k damage.
I really wish they'd buff Talis a big more. That weapon has a lot of potential that isnt being realized
Excellent production value of your video guide even though all the information mentioned in the video is a lot/too much for me to take in. I'm an average player and i feel that it's impossible for me to get my character to reach it's full potential while being a FreeToPlay Player and generally being a solo player.
i think you can at least get very close as a free player! the LC augments that drop in Leciel are just 0,25% potency below the best in slot augments!
What skill is being used at 7:53
Fomelgion
Thanks for the guide. I learned a thing or two, even as someone who has played as a Techter main (or other PSO/PSU support classes) for over 2 decades.
A little sad, that from a Min/Max standpoint, Sub-Classes are trash, but I can't help but use their weapons anyway. I'd get bored of just two weapons. Maybe one day, SEGA will take a shot a balancing Sub-Classes a bit better. (I'm a Te/Wa, by the way.)
i wish they did because the subclass system was the best during the beta. It was a nightmare to balance and that's probably why they moved away from it but the end result is just so... boring.
for the subclass topic : force its worth it if you main Talis.
the slayer and bouncer as subclasses , i never trought about it :O
BTW Waker as subclass its only worth if you are in plan of use Waker strategies with techer passives on top (Te/Wa), trust me Te/Su was a very funny combination back in base PSO2.
PS: those 2 IDOLA OSTs in the end :,(
I'm actually a returning player and I've fallen in love with te/wa the movement and damage is so fun
Do you have any advice to make it optimal I'm not good with numbers on pso lmao

I feel techer doesn’t work well with a controller. There’s so many buttons you need on the 1234567890 buttons and they are terrible to select using a controller.
I play on a controller but I admit i had to get a back-button attachment and put my Weapon action on a dedicated button to save some space. But now it feels perfect!
Can you do that with one of those Xbox elite controllers???
@@ThomasLakin I think Elite already come with backside buttons that can reflect one of the other buttons. I have weapon action set on Right stick click and then one of the backside buttons acts like Right stick click. The attachment i bought was meant for any regular Xbox controller
