the fact that the winning answer was hank aaron is such a crazy twist
I was screaming Braves the whole game. Aaron, Eddie Matthews, Andruw Jones, Javy Lopez, Dale Murphy. At least they got the recent ones in Acuña and Olson
@@wingracer1614don’t forget ozuna
@@elemental2708 I did think of Ozuna but for some reason I had a thought that he only got to 39 so I would save him until I ran out of names I was sure of
That was literally the first person I thought of
@@wingracer1614 I know! I figured Andruw and Chipper Jones could be worth bonus points
In case anyone else was concerned, Frank Thomas, The Big Hurt, of the white Sox, is not dead. That was a Frank Thomas that played in the 60’s
Unlike Wade Boggs, RIP Wade Boggs.
@@_hk47every year I take a flight and try to drink as many beers as I can in memory of Wade Boggs.
I was like what the hell?!? My favorite player died and I didn’t know? Whew!
Rip Boss Hogg
He said that because a couple weeks ago Fox News mistakenly reported that White Sox Frank Thomas died lmao
George Brett had a 9.4 WAR season in 1980 and led the league in BA, OBP and SLG slashing .390/.454/.664 which is a 1.118 OPS. He also had more RBI than Reggie Jackson in about 100 less plate appearances. He deserved every bit of that MVP.
Yeah, what a really strange argument. Brett was more valuable and played 26 less games. Brett had more hits, doubles, triples, RBIs and Stolen Bases in that many less games. He also only struck out 22 times in over 500 plate appearances. Brett also had positive defense WAR that year, whereas Jackson has negative.
Unreal season from Brett, who is an utter legend
@@connormartin1618 seriously. I had to look up the stats after watching Dan complain and I was astonished by Brett's season. Considering he missed about a month of games it's up there with the greatest seasons of all time. Only a Yankees fan could possibly complain about him winning MVP
9.4 in 117 games is unreal
I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic . . . At least, I hope he was being sarcastic
Everybody skipping over the “Frank Thomas passed away recently” joke is criminal. Such a good drop from Rourke
Of course when Dan made the "former Yankee first baseman" comment, my mind immediately went "oh, of course, 2016 NL home run leader Chris Carter!"
Dante Bichette actually had a 40 hr season in 1995 with COL
but the negative war season wasnt the 40 homer season. Jolly scared everyone a little bit with his careless words but he kinda saved it
Speaking of the 1995 season… how the heck did Barry Larkin get MVP that year?
@@harrisonbaylor1432. the same reason as Miguel Tejada in 2002 and Jimmy Rollins in 2007. a SS with good defence on a division winning team over a significantly better hitter (Bichette, A-Rod, Holliday) on another team. its the worst bullshit in baseball aside from the writers who think a whole career with 1 team is more of a reason to be a hall of famer
The fact that it took y'all THAT long to guess Henry Aaron is criminal😂
no mention of Willie Mays either.
Dan is something else, surprised mays wasn’t guessed. I had Shawn green and Todd Hundley in my bag.
As a Jays fan I'm yelling at my screen for someone to say Green, Delgado, George Bell, Canseco...
21:07 - Dan saying Frank Thomas passed away recently is hilarious.
I mean technically the 60s Frank Thomas did......
Have you guys done a strikeout rotation? Same idea as your HR lineup?! That good be interesting. Best starting five and add a closer for flavor?
Lol my brother and I played this the other day on kept track on the notes app it was so much fun, really fills up the time during a long drive
Dante Bichette did hit 40 in 1995 for the Rockies. Fun Fact: he led the league.
I was playing along and was knocked out on a Joe Carter guess. You let me down, Joe...
Lol
You gotta do more of these ! These are so awesome !
No missing parts! Good job guys!
I can’t believe The didn’t say Hank Aaron earlier
23 min in and I'm screaming hank aaron. great vid
No Ted Williams either
@@pigpottyTed Williams hit 40 home runs in a season? Or is that a joke because he was a wrong guess for 3,000 hits
@@dfp_01 he hit 40 homeruns, yes
I was waiting for two guys with the same name...the Carloses Beltran and Delgado.
Delgado did it with the Jays but he was 2 away from them both getting there with the 2006 Mets
Carlos Pena @@wolfpackjew
@impetuosity3381 good call but less interesting than the two who played together
Or the Atlanta Jones pair - Chipper and Andruw.
Jim Edmonds was in my back pocket the whole time. Also a disgrace no one said Canseco, Soriano and especially Harmon Killebrew.
Soriano had a 40-40 season, no? If you're trying to think of guys who hit 40, all of the 40-40 guys are on the list
Damn this was great. Wish I could’ve competed in this. I had a bunch in my head that no one named… Willie Stargell, Willie McCovey, Jim Rice, Chris Carter, Ted Williams, Ken Caminiti, Josh Hamilton, Carlos Peña, George Foster, Johnny Bench, Jermaine Dye…
Damn. Some good ones there. Chris Carter would have been an epic pull. I'd like to add Tony Armas to your list.
I’d like to add Andres Galaragga, Billy Williams, Mel Ott, Alfonso Soriano, Alex Bregman, Ralph Kiner, and Troy Glaus
Those were never going to be named with these guys because most are from more than 20 years ago lol
George Brett had a 9.4 war in 117 games to win the 1980 mvp. Jackson had a 4.8 war in 143 games. Brett led the league in war and was on pace for 13.0 war over 162 games. Brett absolutely deserved that mvp over Jackson.
Dudes a bit Yankees homer if you couldn’t tell lol
War is a garbage stat but you're right that he deserved to win.
@@nobeardthepirate9172 quite a hot take. Care to elaborate?
@@peterparker-zy9oe
who has a higher career offensive war
Kenny Lofton or David Ortiz?
Dan Brouthers or Miguel Cabrera?
Joe Morgan or Albert Pujols?
giving dalton cody bellinger after fully saying joc pederson is craaazy 😂
also so many people in the comments saying “i can’t believe you didn’t guess [player that was absolutely guessed]”. i seriously wonder if you all even watch the full video before commenting
Haha Dan hitting .390 but .090 in the warehouse… Dan the Man
"This could go on a while"
These types of games almost never go on that long.
Edit: actually they did pretty good this time.
I got a little mad when he said he had two catchers in mind. I thought for sure he was thinking Piazza and Lopez. He got Piazza but never said Lopez. Of course Bench would have also worked.
@@wingracer1614Salvi is, of course, _the_ catcher answer
@@dfp_01 Only hit 40 once and other than that, never even hit 30 before so easy to overlook. Then again it was pretty recent.
This was a good one, love the new personalities and Penik lowkey knowing ball !!
I'm shocked Dalton never said Mark Reynolds
I was about to comment those exact words lmao. Gotta give our Snakes love where we can!!
@@romulus5039 especially since Dalton is a Dbacks fan
This is the first time watching these videos and damnit I'm hooked 😅
kinda hate snapping.
Dante Bichette did do 40 in 1995!! My Rockies also had Vinny Castilla who did it 3x! Also Larry Walker, Andres Galarraga (2x) and CarGo did it in 2015.
We love the Dan Rourke content
its crazy how many these guys missed honestly but then I realize i'm old.
The names in my mind from the very beginning were Mays, Griffey Jr, Killebrew, Bench, Frank Robinson. I might have missed it but I don't think any of those names were said.
@@justinnapier8724griffey was most assuredly mentioned lol
Kept waiting for Dan to guess Teixeira
Dan needs to be in more vids. He's hilarious
Penik lowkey knows baseball
That was such an easy quiz dont understand how they missed delgado, beltran, soriano, chiper and andruw jones, ralph kiner, david justice, carlos pena, josh Hamilton, bregman, willie mays, stargell, carl yaztrmreski, adrian gonzales
Jose Canseco
God Rourke is such a great personality 😂
How did no one mention Ted Williams or Willie Mays? I had a bunch on my list still- Harmon Killebrew, Matt Olson, Andruw Jones, Jose Canseco, Alfonso Soriano, Johnny Bench, Frank Robinson, Juan Gonzalez,
Thought for sure Ted Williams was going to be the final answer.
I was screaming Hank Aaron the whole video lmao
The crew sleeping on 40/40 soriano
And 40/40 Jose Conseco
Off the top of my head the ones they missed:
Derek Lee
Bret Boone
Jay Buhner
Buhner is a go to.
Javy Lopez
Troy glaus.
Andre Jones
Phil nevin
I made the thumbnail
And we're all incredibly proud of you Justin
I haven't watched it all yet, but Brady Anderson
Ah yes, the GOAT
So happy Justin nailed Dawson and Sandberg and then Jack picked up Sosa! Guys finally nailing some Cubs! Now y’all need to learn about Ernie Banks, Billy Williams, Derrek Lee, Hack Wilson, Hank Sauer, and Dave Kingman lol
Hoping someone goes for the same double as Jack did with Bautista with Bill and Ted Williams Excellent Adventure
I had Shawn Green, Harmon Killebrew, Ted Williams, Ernie Banks, and Willie Mays in my back pocket, as well as Alex Bregman (noted juiced ball merchant). This could have gone on for MUCH longer.
what a run that was awesome
One of my go-tos on homer trivia is Jay Buhner. Was hoping someone would go with the Bone. Three straight in 95-97 alongside Griffey and Edgar Martinez.
my back pocket that none of these people would have got was Javy Lopez in 2003
Thanks Penik for pulling all the Cubs
They should get bonus points for an exact 40 home run season pick.
good idea. Pick a 40 one and skip the next or pick a 39 one and get out. Would make this more fun.
Adam Dunn would have been worth like 5 or 6 bonus points.
Maybe name + exact number season = a second life? Pass opportunity could be good or bad because more names will fall off the board.
Lots of 500 home run guys that didn’t get named.
ALFONSO SORIANO
And Jose Canseco, another 40-40 guy
Jolly you’re looking extra handsome this intro
It’s the hair
Settle down, Kyyyyyle!
I can’t believe no one said willie mays (unless they did and I missed it), I don’t even know if he has a 40 homer season but he was too good not to mention
6 times I believe including a couple of 50s
I have a lot of guys they didn't name:
Marcus Semien
Carlos Delgado
Carlos Beltran
Paul Konerko
Alex Bregman
Jay Buhner
Jim Edmonds
Troy Glaus
Christian Yelich
Larry Walker
Mo Vaughn
Greg Vaughn
Adrian Gonzalez
Chris Carter
Todd Hundley
Javy Lopez
Richard Hidalgo
Alfonso Soriano
Josh Hamilton
Mark Teixieira
So many easy ones not being mentioned. It is crazy. Hank Greenberg, Willie Mays, Ted Williams among the classic guys. All the 90s and early 2000 guys. Vlad Sr., Miguel Tejada, Soriano. All the Rockies: Andres Gallaraga, Vinny Castilla, Bichette, Ellis Burkes. Chipper and Andruw Jones. So hard to listen to.
If Jack did actually cheat and look it up… Jeff Kent did hit 40 home runs in 2002 but it includes postseason home runs.
I clicked cause Thome was in the thumbnail! Dawg!
Can we talk about how Ken Griffey Jr on played 10 full seasons healthy and still ended up with 650 home runs?!
Dante Bichette did have a 40 burger in ‘95 jolly!
Jolly never actually does research for this shit. It bugs the crap out of me.
Yes but jolly only was thinking of 99 because he made a video about it, which was also what was being reference with the negative war.
Can we put Lukas in here? We need someone to clean up. We got through less than half of the players.
There’s no way I’d be losing this, I didn’t hear a single 60’s player 😂 Norm Cash, Frank Howard, Jim Gentile
How the hell did NOBODY pick Willie Mays?
Any time there is a quiz about hrs that would include them, I scream greg vaughn and mo vaughn at my screen.
Did anyone say Pujols?
I also had Derek Lee and Hack Wilson in my back pocket.
When they started saying Rockies, I thought they would say my man, Carlos Gonzalez.
Unrelated but I *NEED* Jolly to make a video about Lou Brock's World Series performances.
This was surprisingly really poor, I had so many names off the top of my head still as the video was ending… Shawn Green, Alfonso Soriano, Mo Vaughn, Willie Mays, Andruw Jones just to name a few
Im a bit shocked Dalton never said Mark Reynolds
I was playing along at home and would have gotten out right after Sarah by guessing Stan Musial, who *also* hit 39. Killer stuff. Mind you I was at the disadvantage of not being able to guess their guesses while they were able to guess mine, but that's the "Doesn't work for Jomboy Media yet" penalty for you
Juan Gonzalez, Jose Conseco, Alfonso Soriano, Ken Griffey Jr. have all left the chat.
I feel like they started trying to go for the unique ones instead of going for the easiest ones😭😭
More like Ball-ton Feely
Im so glad this wasnt a sporcle quiz
How am I halfway through this video and Adam Dunn, Mr. 40 HR himself, hasn't been mentioned?
Had to adjust the volume many times in this video, some mics too loud and some too quiet
Two Mets catchers alone, Mike Piazza (mentioned) and Todd Hundley. Shocking the only two 40 HR seasons in franchise history came from them until Alonso did it a couple of years ago.
Beltrán hit 41 in 2006
@@AyeJaySunny true
A former Mets manager also did it (Davey Johnson)
Been yelling Prince and Cecil for 15 minutes now.
Dude left couch in the middle is so awkward😭
You could just name any player from the 90s
Smacked my face when he said Donny baseball
They could have gone all mid 90s Rockies, Bichette, Galaraga, Castillo, Burke's, and Larry Walker
I thought of Walker but would not have thought he ever hit 40. You're right, 49 in his MVP season. Dang.
@@stevendeckert6373Walker was a DAWG
the benchwarmers version of round table
Jolly, Jim Thome hit over 40 homers 6 times, not once lol
He said it seconds later
This shows the value of the Hall of Fame that Andre Dawson was named pretty quickly, but George Bell was not. Yet they each achieved their lone 40-HR season in that goofy juiced-ball 1987 season**. They were actually quite comparable on a per-year basis, but Dawson lasted a lot longer, earned his spot in the Hall, and now subsequent generations have heard of him.
**Jolly, if you want a video idea, go peek at 1987. There were an inordinate number of players who had career-high HR years in 1987. Besides Dawson and Bell, you had Will Clark, Wally Joyner, Dale Murphy, Eric Davis, Danny Tartabull, Dwight Evans, Alan Trammell and Ruben Sierra. Mark McGwire shattered the rookie season record. Wade Boggs was annually a single-digit guy, but he went for 24 in 1987. Leadoff guys like Tim Raines and Juan Samuel hit double figures that year. It was the first time in MLB history that the two leagues combined for more than 4,000 homers, and it remained a record until we entered the steroid era.
My favorite goofy tidbit from 1987: Toronto had a righty-lefty platoon at DH that combined for 34 homers in 553 PA. Neither player drew much notice at the time because they were still up-and-coming and, well, they were a platoon at DH. But we know their names today: Cecil Fielder and Fred McGriff.
Former blue jay Marcus semien
Pete Alonso, Matt Olson.... Was waiting for those
Double Carlos bonus point left on the table with Delgado and Beltran
Well Bichette definitely did
Get dan rourke on here more
You should put Dan in more videos, he’s fun
Or less videos since his crass arrogance breaks the nerdy vibe that makes jm endearing
@@KyleSorentilol. variety can be good!
There’s like hundreds of guys who have done this. How did ppl get out so early😂
Much of the panel was born after 1990. Knowing events from the 1980's is a challenge and the 70's are poor odds, then anything before is a mystery. Other than Yankees.
Sarah Teper supremacy
I still had like 5 more in my pocket by the end of this.
One of the easier ones.
Harmon Killebrew
I feel like there should be an asterisk next to this win considering they allowed Dalton to stay in after saying Joc Pederson
Guys is it just me or did they not say Mark McGwire? Also Semien and Greg Vaugn lol
They did say McGwire. Somewhere in the middle. No Semien or Greg Vaughn (or Mo Vaughn, for that matter)
@@rudypepperable can you pin the time? Thanks man

Steroid guys are always mentioned but never seem to guess Canseco.
20mins into the video, Harmon Killebrew and Hank Aaron have left the chat.
Tony Armas, Dale Murphy, Darrell Evans
