One of the things i find is lacking from most speculative evolution worlds is that we never really get to see the environments in action. Watching your world moving is inspiring and unique. Altho some rough edges could be worked out (concerning textures and walking), ur designs are immaculate, the music makes this so much more enjoyable and the fact that feels like a snapshot of a normal day on this planet is incredible. KEEP ON THE HARD WORK
I mean, walk cycles are _hard._ Getting any creature to move convincingly takes either a ton of time, or an absolute expert. And the textures... They're fine in my opinion.
I can see the similarities with BBCs Alien Planet. These seem mostly fungi like creatures with a few arthropods. There is also inspiration from Discovery Dinosaur Planet scene when microraptor is being hunted. Complex life would most likely find convergent ways to come up with the same solutions life on Earth did. And this is the logic conclusion from observing how the same ecological niches keep being filled over and over through the hundreds of millions of years life has thrieved on Earth.
I’ve never seen anyone render a torn up corpse of a spec-bio subject! It’s gotta be such a risk / challenge: from a artistic biologist’s perspective it has to reveal the underlying anatomical structures/tissues and their physical nature whilst in a state of partial disrepair; from a 3-d artist’s perspective it’s so many textures / translucencies / structures to render. But any detail you can provide in such a scene communicates a wealth of information to the viewer and I love you for it!
You're right, though having the bone structure roughly modeled with the organs was helpful. I didn't get to show it much in the film but the skull and cervical vertebrae of the corpse are fully modeled.
You did such a great job!! Your exhibit was literally one of the coolest things I’ve ever been able to see in person! Great to be able to see the whole video here! :))
These alien design are far more realistic and alien than most which are basically just slightly different earth animals. Well done! Very original I loved it!
@_____ convergent evolution is only so common on earth among organisms with the capability to make similar body plans. jellies and fish share the same environment but have completely different ecological niches, bodyplans, and ancestry, and so look completely different. there is absolutely zero reason to think that alien life would look anything like earth life at all, especially when you consider that half of life on earth looks totally alien compared to the rest, even with common ancestry. who's to say life on other planets has dna? cells? muscles or muscle analogues? to come to the conclusion that alien life would probably look similar to earth life you have to assume a lot of things that very well could have been and definitely are completely circumstantial to life on earth. and that's just not very realistic in my opinion.
