    He loves hearing about people turning their lives around and he certainly rewards them! In another video, a man told Judge Simpson he saved his life when he made him apologize to his mother before being sentenced. After that, he didn't commit another felony and was working hard to take care of his children and pay off some court fines - Simpson was so proud that he waived them for him.

      Is this the ginger lady @10:04? I don't know the US system (I don't know the UK penal system come to that! :-)) but I thought she was getting told "'X' will happen and then someone from them will contact you" and she's inside? and if they fall thru, she doesn't know who to contact and she's no means to contact them! That seem right?
      That said, her lawyer seemed 👍!

    • @DocBree13
      @DocBree13 Рік тому +3

      @@TeddyBear-ii4yc yes - I’m talking about the ginger lady at 10:04. She says her priority is getting housing for her and her son, the judge and her lawyer offer to work it out so that she can get it, and she just wants to through it away by pleading guilty to the drug charge that would keep her from getting housing. She will have easy access to her lawyer, and her lawyer will be able to contact and work with the housing authority. The main issue seems to be that she doesn’t want to stay in jail any longer, and is willing to give up housing and possibly custody of her son for her own immediate comfort. If she would listen to what they’re telling her, it will all work out for the best. It also makes it look like she’s possibly lying about not taking a guilty plea on the drug charges, in the first place given her actions in court on this day.
      Edit: I also think she has a great lawyer, and this judge is the best!

    Judge Simpson is one of my favorite judges. He is an absolute hard a$$ and it is a completely bad idea to go in front of him and try to lie or insult his intelligence. When somebody comes back before him like that woman did you can really see what he does is from a perspective of like a fatherly or grandfatherly tough love and he really does care and wants to help people change their lives around. I have seen a lot of judges look like the best part of their day is to throw somebody in jail simply because they have the power to do so but he does it because he wants to save and change lives. I wish there were more judges like him.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras Рік тому +1

      @Eric Kiyoshi Phillips maybe one extra month in jail isn't "anything" to you but most people aren't going to want to sit there for a month if they can possibly get out in the next day or so. Especially if they had children. The plea agreement was for a month I guess because she said she'd already done that (meaning what the plea outlined) and said she'd been there since March. And honestly, she's in jail for a drug paraphernalia charge. Not even drug possession, just possession of paraphernalia. There's absolutely no reason she should still be sitting in jail after a month on a charge like that. It's ridiculous- jails are already extremely overcrowded and they not only keep her for a month on a nonviolent charge but want to hold her another month? This is why so many people are pushing to get rid of cash bond on charges like this. A dude can beat the snot out of his wife and be out in a few hours but this chick is stuck in jail for a month, possibly 2, because she had a pipe or something because the guy had the thousand dollars or whatever to get out and she didn't? Yes, that makes a lot of sense. But we gotta keep these hardened criminals locked up tight, right?

    OK, you and Law Talk With Mike need to just get a LiveStream with Simpson and Middleton (Frushour would be a great addition). I do not know if the judges can do that, but that would be awesome.
    I mean Mike grabs all your videos since you are doing the hard work of edits. I feel like a team-up is in order...

      I love your videos, and I fully acknowledge that LTWM totally says, "I stole this from Old Squishy Gardener..." You guys need a team-up, for a live-stream. I mean, you are LTWM's major source of late. Also. Your commentary graphics: Pretty on point. Ever speak to Van Balion?

    As entertaining as these videos are, it’s so worthwhile seeing people like Ms. Kish. There are no words for the struggles that recovering people go through and to see someone have a happy “ending” in a court case is just joyful. I’m only speaking for myself, but I’m sure others felt like they had a lump in their throat when she started tearing up just like I felt. Keep it up lady and know you can do this one day at a time! ❤

    What amazes me is that criminals and addicts have way more access to treatment and help than those of us who stay clean and pay taxes but need some help. I don't want them to lose their services because it does help some. But more judges let people pile up charges but keep letting them out or decrease their charges.

    Ms. Cloutier seems like she is trying to work the system to just get out of jail so she can get back to what she was doing. She asks for an adjournment so they can review whatever the issue was with her initial plea, gets it, and then tries to manipulate things so she can get out now and say screw the adjournment. Doesn’t really make a whole bunch of sense if you ask me. She is just trying to go way too fast, pisses the judge off with that whole “ I already did all of the jail time,” comment and doesn’t realize that she needs to be PATIENT. If you were so concerned about this whole drug thing effecting your housing maybe you should t have been doing whatever those drugs were in the first place. Most likely it was a possession charge or at the very least some other drug related charge and it’s clear that she is already on her way to violating the terms of the housing and will lose it anyway so maybe just sitting there, having some time to be sober and clear headed is what you actually need.
