Jake was telling Mike some hard won home truths. Mike showed lots of respect to Jake here. Mike knew his boxing history and knew what a fighter the Bronx Bull was.
I got a chance to meet Mike in 2013….he was very intimidating yet very humble at the same time….it’s cool to look back and see that he himself knew and met many legends too…..can’t believe I got to meet him now.
I think jake saw alot of himself in mike as far as talent in the ring and the way he was brought up. He was affectionate towards him like a father to a son.

One thing about Mike is he always had respect for the guys who came before him! He also has a wealth knowledge about any fighter that paid their dues with sweat and blood
Exactly, mike's knowledge of fighters and warriors predates boxing by thousands of years, all the way back to alexander the great, caesar, leonidas and genghis khan, he's studied them to.
Wow never seen this before. Imagine how Tyson felt after LaMotta said about him and the affection they have for each other is gold. Shame Mike let his best advice slide “stay away from the garbage out there”

From first seeing Raging Bull Jake LaMotta became a fascinating figure, and to see him in the flesh reformed from the volatile, violent abusive menace really that he was is uplifting. Ironically Mike was the same way. A raging bull also later to become largely reformed as well. It’s said Mike was abused and bullied and severely neglected spending hours hiding behind brick walls in his neighborhood not to get picked on. And then such rage and turnaround. You wonder if Jake was also a happy, innocent spirit who got targeted and abused and turned into a raging machine similar to Mike.

Mike seems to be doing the same. Life was hard for both guys. It’s awesome to see the mutual respect two warriors have.
