Such consistency! Really separates the boys from the men. Love the blink-182 reference 😂

Hi Rick, will you be doing any tips for rimshots? Like all the different colors of rimshots, how to correctly practice them, or how it can be incorporated in grooves/solo?

I already did one on rimshots. It is here ua-cam.com/video/sO1caTPEfug/v-deo.html
I may do one on the drum set though since its a bit different.

Hey Rich, Thanks for all the inside technique and applications. Lots to learn and I benefited greatly. I have question: at times I see your right hand closer to the butt end than other times (i.e. @ 6:20). I assume that this is intentional. Why and when? What is the advantage?

    • @rickdior

      Hi Scott
The advantage is more power and volume when I need it.
I will move up and down the stick by a few inches this way depending on the music I am playing.

I wish my drumming level was good enough to take drum lessons

William Thompson Even if you’ve never held drumsticks, don’t read a lick of music, have never even tried to tap out a steady pulse, your “drumming level” is good enough to start lessons. Everyone starts somewhere and the beginning is the best place to start. If you’ve started somewhere else, you can always go back and fill in what you’ve missed. (The only impediment would be certain kinds of physiological motor control or cognitive limitations that might prevent attainment of certain skills.)

Try it the other way around: drum lessons first!
      Most of all: enjoy.
I've been taking lessons for 2 years now. A lot of fun, therapeutic, and just great...
Go for it. You'll never regret doing it, but you might regret not doing it.
