The Alamo is the most famous Spanish Mission in the world and is located in San Antonio, the second largest city in Texas, in the south central region of the United States. It is located about 80 Miles west of Houston, and 80 miles south of Austin. The city has a rich history and a strong heritage, and the Alamo is located right in the center of Downtown San Antonio.
The Alamo is best known for the famous Battle of the Alamo in which about 180 Texan rebels fought off over 2,000 Mexican soldiers in the fight for Texas’ independence from Mexico in the 1830s. The Alamo allows you to take a step back in time from the sites original Spanish Mission past, to it’s use as a stronghold in the battle, to it’s later use in the Civil War. The Alamo offers visitors a unique look into Texan and American history, and is something you must see when you are visiting San Antonio.
The Alamo, most notably represents passion for home and country and is a prime example of deep Texas pride and heritage.

Great to see those excited about history. Just a few points to add here. First the Mexican army was closer to 4,000 men and the Battle of San Jacinto where the Texans won was the following month of the same year. April 21, 1836 and it lasted only 18 minutes.

Hey Turbon, yes for sure, even though the Texans lost, the Battle of the Alamo is often credited as the starting point of Texas pride.

I don't think the battle at San Jacinto was "a couple of years later".

How were you able to film inside the chapel? I thought cameras were prohibited inside?

Hey Josiah, I didn't find that recording was prohibited in the churches. As long as you are respectful and solemn- they tend to be ok with you admiring the beauty of the church.

      @@ProjectGaiaTravel I think he's joking. That's a reference to the Pee-Wee Herman movie.
