I had a horrible experience with my 1st infiniti 2009 fx35 (vq35hr) , first year (thermostat broke , evap canister broke , wheels r ticking everytime i move the car from stop or to a stop but all this is so cheap to fix , literally 30$ for all parts and labor) here the big problem i went to change spark plugs and the engine after wouldnt stop random misfires , changed coil packs , spark plugs , then vvt solenoids broke , then catalytic conv start smelling , after w while fixed all that and the car kept misfiring till i hard accelerate , after a months of driving a finiky infiniti it broke my wallet so i couldnt keep throwing money at it , till i made some and went to check timing chain tensioner , changed camshaft sensors cranshaft sensor , mass air flow sensors and throttle body which i cleaned at the time i bought the car , then the car start smdriving normally so i immediately sold it , it had 92k miles
I agree parts are expensive, but I think these are pretty reliable. I bought my first G at 104k, and now have 164k with 0 issues besides one seized caliper. Beat on it, modded it, raced it, no issues! Love this car. Also has a huge aftermarket.
DoomDash he said the transmission can’t cope with that power and you are saying you raced her ?!! And it’s now 160k miles ?!! So that’s not bad at all
Nissan makes shitty CVT's but their other trans are fine.
Rotor Blade Idk why he said they’re weak transmissions, i mean sure you cant run it up to 400+ horsepower reliably but other than that it runs like a champ
@@SourceHitIt Again just get a trans cooler. Plenty of people well over 400-500whp with autos reliably.
DoomDash I’d have to disagree with that the auto trans are not comfortable with handling alot of power, the CD009 however, is alot better at handling power and more reliable

I bought my 2006 Infiniti G35 with 121k miles in 2016 and only spent about $2500 in maintenance from when I bought it up until now. Don't listen to Scotty. They're the 3rd most reliable luxury brand behind Lexus and Acura.
I think they are more reliable and more fun to drive than those two.
I agree, Scotty just attacking Infiniti because it isn’t a Toyota or Honda
Acuras have gone to shits last 5 years.. I don't even consider most of their lines even luxury. They are cheaper than Lexus and Infiniti but you do get considerably less. But Infiniti's are also on the decline. The 2003 G35 saved the line as top luxury sedan M class is garabge. If you do keep up the maintenance, it'll last 200k plus but the maintenance itself is so expensive. Just did the 75,000 miles platinum maintenance from Infiniti and it was over $2,000.
2500 in maintaining a car is crazy.
2500$ is that suppose to sound cheap 😂 and I guess if you claim 2500 you really mean 5000
ive owned 3 Infinitis (Vq35de) (Vq37Vhr)both are super reliable and never had any problems with them 200k+, this guy dont know what hes talking about.

@@jonDoe-ml3jq hes still wrong lol this video has a clearly neglected car, so many people buy these used and if they do just the minimum in maintenance they all go 200k+ easy and many are at 300-400 even
The engine is reliable on these sure, the vq37, but sensors and ECU's fail on these things left and right.

That's been around since the boat was invented I don't think he can
Ive owned 3 Infiniti’s and never had a problem with them. Super reliable imo i recommend them to everyone. Is basically a nice altima. Only reason i can see it not be reliable is when the owner doesn’t take care of it. And I’ve never heard of these cars have transmission problems
As a technician and g37 owner I’ve seen quite a few bad trans but its normally user error. Young ppl flooring it everywhere it goes and not changing fluid often enough. Infiniti recommends trans fluid flush every 30,000miles. Trans cooler makes a HUGE difference keeping G’s going
I just get a trans internal kit, tighten up your mounting setup, get better wheel bearings, get a skid plate thats a snug fit, axles if you got the money, bam, that transmission will feel so much less burden from the road.
@@rinjin6547 its not about the wear from the road its more of an internal problem being that the fluid doesn’t have any way to cool and all that heat tears the trans up on longer rides. A trans cooler is pretty simple and is only like $350 and will help keep temps low. All those things u suggest most definitely would help but not cheap at all
"I can't save this car, the hoodstruts are broken!"
I think it's funny that when he reviewed an old Toyota a couple of weeks ago and the hood struts didn't work he was like so what do you expect the car is old? When the hood struts don't work on an Infiniti oh this car is a pile of junk.
It's worthless to put money into a horribly designed car.. idiots
The Toyota was twice as old and half as much. That’s why.
@@markkauffman6184 hahaha, true. He is saying a lot about the infiniti about this and that, but the car with him has no issue except for the hood strut. Also, his comment is about transmission problem is common to all buyers of used fast cars; the previous owner always toys with it and the buyer suffers for the repairs. A lot of owners of infiniti who use their car in its normal usage does not have any major issue for 7 yrs. Also, If you want a low maintenance car, the buy a model with less power and less features.
Greatest car I’ve ever owned
Never had any issues with my 2012 g37x with 106k and 2 track weekends under it's belt. Super reliable. Thumbs down you're completely wrong on this one
I'm with you on this one, love my G. Has some quarks, but most dependable and funnest car I've had.
2012 g37 with 86k miles. Not a single issue in the 3.5 years I have owned it.
You’re completely right 2012- and up supposedly fixed a hose issue but other than that I’ve only heard that these cars are completely reliable and can take a beating
No highs no lows it must be Bose.
Thank you! Everyone swears by them not me
People who have never heard a real sound system swear by Bose!
I drove one a few years back, it was at least better than the Bose setups GM usually uses, but was definitely nothing to write home about. Bose is all about using the cheapest possible components and messing with the audio signal to try and make them sound halfway decent.
jblyon2 I have one in my Miata and I would say that I am unimpressed . Than it has some speaker impedance that only one company sells replacements for and guess what ? Over $200 each
Meh junk. Crazy how auto companies think Bose is high end for some reason. The S-class & Acura used to have Bose. Now only junk Chevy, Mazda, and Nissan have junk bose.
I had a 2010 G37 Sedan. I owned it since 60k miles and gave it 60k of hard driving for 4 years. The worst that happened was my belt snapped. As long as you keep up on oil changes (I did royal purple every 4000 miles) and every once in a while ( I did it every 10,000 miles because I drove the car hard) change 5 quarts of transmission fluid. As that is all that comes out because it's a sealed unit, you won't have any issues. I love Scotty but I wanted to give my perspective because G37's are not unreliable and endless money pits (at least the 2nd Gens 2010+). I drove mine for a hard 60k miles and had almost no issues, just keep up on good maintenance.
I have a friend with a 2009 G37. He's been very happy with it and says he has had no issues.
@@richardbostan4286 I think most stem from improper maintenance
2011 g37x from 20k to 100k just did front wheel bearings
Lets Play Some Games 2013 awd sedan...23k to 95k and have only had to replace a tie rod and a valve cover gasket
I have a 2013 G37xS Coupe absolutely love it, I drive pretty hard and I do all my scheduled maintenance which costs money but I've been trouble free minus a sunroof drainage gasket. I love the car and definitely not an endless money pit. Yes parts are expensive but thats what you expect w a luxury vehicle otherwise buy a Carolla that simple. I disagree with him, 20,000 + trouble free miles from 70,000 miles.
Crazy my 2009 g37 coupe $12000 had it for 2 years and it's the best car I've had 133'000 miles going strong
I have a 2006 M35 Sport with 290k miles I purchased in 2008 with 38k. Its been nearly flawless. Here are the things I have had to replace, radiator replaced with an aftermarket for $85 replaced 100k miles ago, camshaft position sensors over 100K ago with aftermarket sensors, and a starter at 145k. I replaced the coil packs at 175k but they were working fine and didn't really need replaced. This car has been bulletproof. I DRIVE this car. I maintain it with regular oil changes (Mobile1) and it keeps running perfectly. Transmission has been perfect. I have changed wear items like brakes, wipers and spark plugs, tires, etc. that every car needs.
I have owned two Infiniti's, the other was a 2008 EX35 AWD, also flawless for over 150K. That one never needed anything besides oil changes. I am getting a QX70 for my next vehicle. I am not sure how these customers of his maintains their vehicles but I have only had excellent experiences with Infiniti. Have others in my extended family that have them also with no issues. I know several people with Infiniti's besides these I mentioned and none have had issues. If you don't maintain any vehicle it will let you down eventually.
Nissan/Infiniti messed up with the CVT's, will not own one of them.
If these cars had a Toyota badge on them they would be the best cars ever according to Scotty.... lol.
Love your channel Scotty.
You're absolutely correct. I have a 07 M35 that I purchased used with 134k miles on it in 2014 and never had any (major) problems with it til now. It has a blown head gasket. when I change my oil I would use a oil flush and it ate up the gasket. But Iam ok with it. I got it up to 340k. May try and fix it myself. But will buy another one just no oil flush.
185,000 on my g35 and still running strong. Fell in love with infiniti so much I'm upgrading to a g37 and one day a q60🤷♂️

Very nice video. Thanks for the information.
I don’t know maaaaan, never met anyone with problems on these. Only problem mines had was power steering fluid but that was fixed. Just make sure your maintenance dues are done
And ive never heard anyone complain of that transmission failing without Turbocharging the engine
@behexen250 what im talking about is when people turbo charge for 450+hp thats when the tranny breaks but go look up online for people complaining about this 7speed breaking on a stock car
I have no clue why some people say the trans (7at) is bad. Yes, its somewhat sluggish when driving normally, but in sport mode it shifts pretty quick for what it is and is just as reliable as the motor when under 450 hp.
Second infiniti now, very reliable. Only second one had cat problem that was replaced under warranty free of charge . These cars have higher reliability ratings than most other cars out there. I've seen many hitting 300k miles and no major issues.

Scotty I’m 15 and wondering what car I should get just for driving around town when I get my lisence ? I absolutely love the mid to late 60s muscle cars like the charger,Chevelle, camaro, and mustang. Just curious as to where I should look and what to look for.

G25 would be the one to keep, less torque through the gearbox, less stress on equipment overall. It still has 220hp so not underpowered in the least.

I got a 2007 G35X fully loaded that I bought used three years ago with 99,980 miles. I never have had any issues whatsoever. My car runs great and I now have 142,000+ miles on it. Sounds great, lots of power and handles like a dream. The interior is perfect with no cracks or discoloration to the leather, AC dual climate control also good and it shifts smoothly in between gears. Hope it continues that way, as I am now a bit nervous that it will start giving problems and falling apart. I know Scotty is partial to Lexus' but I think Infinities are just as good.
Hey, Scotty, have you ever been asked to consider a list of cars that are good driving investments?.. for guys who don't mind doing some lightweight work of their own?
I love your comments about the 65' Mustang, but I'm beginning to think about buying a used car that is cheap and easy to maintain and repair, even if I will need to take it to a local shop when I'm just not up to going beyond my abilities. I recently inherited a 2005 Buick Century with 60k miles. The tires in the back have manufacturing dates of 2005 and 2006. I just changed them all but now I need front end work, tie rods, bushings, etc.
2008 G35x sole owner - 180k+ miles... great car to drive... Cost to service and repair is the only complaint apart from low gas mileage which is to be expected with this type of car. Literally drove this car from the East Coast to the West Coast, and havent had any major problems... Here's to another 10 years.... Literally sold the car a week after this post after transmission problems...
Manual or Automatic? What did the transmission start doing?
I swear you were Italian in a previous life. You do a lot of talking with your hands. :-)
Scotty- I have an 08 Rav4 . Have had it for 5 years and it’s actually paid off this month. It’s got the 2.4l oil burner. I love being payment free. If I keep it and keep up on oil should I just keep it? Anything I should do?
Man, your videos are so cool.
The VQ is legendary. My folks have a 2010 EX35 SUV, it has been bulletproof. About 170K miles, only this year had to replace the radiator. First repair ever. 5 speed automatic in that model, which are notoriously good, at least as far as Nissan goes. The VQ35 is just a sweetheart of an engine. Theirs has 300 HP. A year or 2 before the 3.7.
They weren’t bad until 2011.

Scotty I love your videos and yes we understand that you love Toyota's and cheap to maintain vehicles! I rarely see a mechanic with a fancy expensive car!
Though I have had two G's:
- 2007 G35X ran that to 265k miles with zero engine or transmission problems
- 2013 G37XS Appearance Edition currently with 125k miles without a single problem (knock on wood).
I think you failed to mention the cars 3 major downsides:
- Headlights fade after 5 years
- You will need to service your brakes once a year (heavy car with small brake system)
- Throttle bodies get dirty causing the car to feel sluggish (service depending on how hard you drive the car, motorvate diy UA-cam channel has a great DIY on this... if you have the 2007 model do not do this at home there is a software update for 2008+ that allows the ECU to relearn the throttle body position, some 2007 cars depending on the month it was manufactured needs to be done at a dealer).
I live in the North East and drive this vehicle EXTREMELY hard (as the car wants to be driven) as long as you keep it clean, oil change every 5k, transmission every 60k, and you watch your fluid levels i.e. Power Steering, Coolant the car is an absolute joy to own.
Funny I technically have the same cars. a 2003 G35 with 290k miles - almost no problems and a 2012 G37xS with 120k no problems.
Love your videos! I've been watching for years. I'm having issues with my truck lid shocks on my 2010 G37 convertible. First question: Do they make better/stronger shocks for my car?? The truck lid is too heavy for the oem shocks. Now they won't even hold up the truck. Second question: how do I replace them? No videos on UA-cam for Infinity trucks much less a coverable. Any help or advice from anyone is greatly appreciated.
What to look for in VQ engines and other g35/350z in no order 1. oil burning piston rings (DE versions) 2. Oil "consumption" (DE versions) get oil catch can 3. sensors (crank positions and cam position) 4. Replace radiator with aluminum radiator (plastic tanks crack) 5. check timing chain galley gasket behind cover 6. ignition coils failure (replace them).7. worn lower control arm bushings (replace both left and right side)
Every car can have issues, I have a 2012 g37 bought it with 51k miles now it has 120k+ on it no issues. I have dont all maintenance myself. All oil changes at 4k-6k Royal purple. I've dont the transmission fluid twice and dif fluid twice. I have replace brakes like 3 time and upgraded my rotors. I've cleaned the throttle bodies a few times along with the mass air flow sensor. I've changed all fluids also brake fluid, power steering and antifreeze just to keep them fresh. I've also changed all my coolant hose replaced them with silicone hoses
I just got my 2011g37x should I change the transmission fluid it has 87,568 miles 🤔
That Infinity sounds like my GM!
Im the second owner, have a 06 G35 150k +miles still runs great.
Nice video!
My timing belt is 33 to 43,000 miles over due on the 2006 interference Sienna I just bought. The last owner said she never had it done. How long do you think it will hold up?
I’d had have to disagree Scotty, I had a 2005 Infiniti FX35 3.5L V6 with the 5 speed and the tech package owned it since it was new and all I can say was positive things about it beautiful car the paint holds up amazing tranny and engine are still very strong. The interior does crack after intense sun which we can get in Southern California. But boy it was a dream to drive amazing handling and speed an absolutely perfect freeway cruiser especially since it was a SUV. At 137k miles I do have a few issues just replaced all the wearables... tires, brakes, timing belt, starter... etc. Needs new fuel sensor and does have a small valve cover leak. But it has ran very well with few issues. Oh and AC STILL BLOWS ICE COLD!
I have a 2011 Infiniti G37 sedan 7 speed automatic transmission and I have not had any problems with the motor or automatic transmission. I have got it with 48k miles on it and now after about a little over 5 years it’s still running strong with a little over 192k miles it. Great car!!👌🏽
Hey Scotty, Your words of automotive wisdom are being heard even in the United Arab Emirates. Spot on Advises and thanks for the unbiased opinions!
Thanks Scotty! I'll be putting this 07 G35 that I bought last week up for sale tomorrow!
I got 306,000 km on my 08 G35x. Absolutely reliable and not hard to work on at all. I’ve done nothing major just normal wear parts.
What how long do they last?
Scotty talks about the option of going to a junk yard to get the part(s) you need....what picture is showing in the video feed....A Chevy dealership....LMAO!!!!.....I love it : )
Thank you for info
Great information brotha... I own a 2003 Infiniti m45, what do you think about that model? Thanks again for all that great information 👍🏼💯
Watch out for oil consumption in the V8 engine.

Loose and Saggy?
Damn Scotty shows no mercy, now he's bringing phone brands into the mix lmao
Thanks Scotty 😎
I bought a 2008 G35x with 137,000 miles on it and now has 145. Had to replace a ball joint and sway bar links and your right about parts being pricey but worth it for me because I got an awesome deal on the car and I love it. Other than that, awesome car!
I’ve been pushing my 2013 g37 sedan for the past year every day on sequential or drive sport mode and it’s still holding up well
hey so my 2013 g37 like when I change gears from p to d it makes clanking noises but the last owner added a magna flow exhaust and my car has no engine light on or anything could the exhaust be the cause of the noises or is it missing a bolt?

I bought a brand new Q45 in December 1989. I am now considering getting a used 2011 to 2019 M37 RWD. Any ideas, suggestions?
Love the picture of the junkyard LOL!
I am laughing at the cold weather gear you’re wearing lol. I had to look up temp in Houston. 70 in fl
It’s 10 degrees here in Michigan 😂 must be tough living in chilly Houston Texas

It's an Infiniti alright. Thanos hid his infinity stones in plain sight next to the seat heater switches @7:34. 😄
Is a 2016 Honda Civic LX a reliable car, I'm looking at one that has 34,045 miles for $13,400. Is it a good deal? If not what car do you recommend for that price range?
Another thing that can be problematic with the Infinities and Z cars is their use of Nissan's "Scratch Shield" clearcoat., A clearcoat that is self-healing for minor scratches. For larger scratches that must be compounded and polished out, good luck finding a detailer who can and is willing to do what is necessary to properly polish this clearcoat.
I have owned 3 of these cars. 04 g35(150k miles) and 03 350z (212k miles) and now I drive a 08 g35 (108k miles) The parts are cheap as hell and these cars are really reliable. Scotty is out of his mind with this video. Don’t hesitate to buy a used Infiniti.
I second This
Find the G37S model of this car with a 6 speed manual, then its pretty decent
Hello, Scotty! Tell me about topping off the fuel tank. Is it okay to do? Or is it a bad thing to do? Thank you so much for this channel!
It's bad for your fuel pump. Don't do it.
I don't have struts but springs on my 1980 300 SD. Still working porfectly.
Hey Scotty; I got the power steering hose for $100; plenty of aftermarket for those and had it installed for two years without leaks. I'd say the only thing I'm worried about would be the infamous gallery gasket
Just did that repair...
@@jwilliams5857 Tell us more. I am debating doing this JOB.
@@e30m31989 It's not bad, just time consuming because of all the stuff you have to take off to get to it.
Update*** currently at 252,000km (157,000 miles). Galley Gasket seems to be holding and car has stayed reliable
You go to a junkyard *shows chevy dealership* lmao
Cracks me up every time
Been having problems with a transmission shutter in my 2014 Camry.
Turns out there is a recall for 2 issues. A software update and a torque converter.
I've been calling the dealership for a few months and no recalls were issued. For MY vin number.
All these Camrys having the same problem as me but my vin number is under the warranty?
This might be the last Toyota I buy if corporate don't get back to me.
Just a question - what is better - front wheel or rear wheel drive
If u get an old infinity that was loved and used well from day one, these cars are the most reliable beautiful and powerful machines you can think of. I have had no problems at all. Zero. 110k miles 2008 ex35 journey. Drives like it was born yesterday. Beautiful reliable car worth a lot more than what I paid to get it
Skotty you are a blessing to all of us ...thank you and God keep bless g you

I've had 2 G35s and now a Q50 all used and they are great cars. All used cars come with issues, my Q50 has rattling cats but that's an easy fix with test pipes.
Is a 2015 V6 Accord Coupe a good buy? 35k miles for 19k
When I was younger I thought Scotty was the best mechanic ever….. now that im older and worked on many cars of my own, family and friends , I can say I’ve been watching nothing but another man that throws a bunch of drama talk…..
G37 really doesnt have that many problems. Especially if you're going to tune it. Meaning no cats. Ect. Engine is fantastic. Manual trans are great. Mines at 110k miles havent had a single issue with it besides shakey heatsheilds that I fixed myself
Wow thanks for the heads up. I found a G37 coupe for 4k needs love
That is what I love about Scotty, he will give it to you straight.
At 6:46 Scotty again don't buy Infiniti parts from a "Junk Yard" shows image of a Chevy Dealer

As a Canadian experiencing winter currently, my RWD G35 is incredibly good in the winter. VDC is the real hero, not me.
Scotty, what are your thoughts on an 07 Honda Accord ex-l 6 speed manual? Any certain issues I should keep an eye for?
Thank you scotty 👍
