After talking and looking at pleasure ways, I ended up purchasing a 2005 road trek 210 popular today! I am curious how you found the seats on long trips? I have the back from hell and I'm hoping the RT has some lumbar support. And I noticed the ground clearance is really low. Have you found that to be an issue? I won't pick up until this spring. I purchased long distance and then had a mechanic check it out thoroughly. About 56,000 on the odometer so I'm not too concerned. I personally own a 2006 Chevy Express 3500 cargo van, so I think it's similar, although I'm hoping road trek puts different seats in the RV. Cruise control will certainly be welcome too. The previous owner removed the rear cushions and just put a bed in it, and I think I will go back to the stock cushions. It actually doesn't need too much. And looks like the owner may have removed the tables as they're nowhere to be found in the closets, but I'm sure I can fashion something up. Paid 30K even. Negotiated about five grand off the price. Furnace does not turn on and I'm hoping it's something simple, but if I have to replace I'm not too concerned. Generator only has 40 hours on it, and it works. The clear coat is intact on the roof, again a nice clean coach. I'm excited. Certainly nice to watch a video that endorses a vehicle I just spent 30 grand on-- makes me feel a bit better. Thank you for this. I was on the fence about it, and videos like yours like are very encouraging to would be owners. The one I purchased is identical to you in color, go figure.
I also have back issues. I do believe the seats are custom. They are not factory Chevrolet. If they leather they are pretty stiff but honestly, there’s a plastic cupholder type situation in the drivers door. Anytime I started getting uncomfortable. I would just put my foot up there and honestly was much better but I did always take Aleve before long trips. As for your bed situation, the factory cushions are OK but even I put like a 4 inch memory foam in the back over them and honestly, I always left it as a bed so that at any moment I could just pull over go back there take a nap or relax, so you might find that the bed back there already is a bonus. That is extremely low miles. I would not be concerned at all. I have sold a couple of them with over 100,000 miles and I have seen a few of them at auction with 200,000+ I would just say normal maintenance is the key. Thank you for your comment. Somebody mentioned something about a "cold" pour, and that the cushions do not break down like normal foam. I'm sure cruise control will definitely help as the biggest issue I have is leaving my foot in one spot which also creates pressure points on the legs and that's what causes the pain. I will probably change the transmission fluid as well as some of the other fluids when I pick this up, as I don't know the exact history. Any other things you would suggest for the engines at about 60,000 miles? If I'm not mistaken most of the major maintenance comes closer to 100,000 miles. I did change the water pump and idler pulleys on my 06, but That's only because I had to replace the thermostat and I just changed them out as a preventative measure. They were actually fine. I think it's the sprinters that have issues with the idler pulleys and the bearings. I did hear mention of some issues with mass air flow sensors on the Chevy's and throttle position sensors. Since everything is computer-controlled, it makes sense that sensors play a key role in the thing running correctly. I can say with my O6 even disconnecting the battery causes the engine to run horribly until it warms up and the computer relearns the system. The thing actually has a hard time idling. It's a temporary condition, and it's happened about three times now and it always goes back to running perfectly as soon as it gets warmed up and the computer learns the system again. My O6 is a little flaky with the security system. I disconnected the sirens because those damn things were going off every time I climbed up into the rear of the van without the key. I guess it thought somebody was breaking in and then the light started to flash and the sirens went off yadda Yadda. There doesn't appear to be a way to actually disconnect the security system to my knowledge. I can also say that the system tends to drain the battery. So far that's my only dislike about the Chevy engine.
I have a 01 dodge 190 versatile. I love it. It was my dream van. I fell in love with the RT when I saw it at a RV show in the mid 90’s. It’s the perfect size for me, not to small & not to big. Easy to drive & park. It’s my everyday vehicle. I use it both as a passenger van & a campervan. Best of both worlds.

6’1 and I can fully stand and sleep in my 170. Also can u turn with ease, park, get 17-18 mpg, tow 8000lbs. It is easier to maintain then a 210. 190s are most common. Disappointed…no. It’s dependent on use and number of people. Mine is fine for one person or a dog. Lacks perhaps in a few cubbies but is notably easier to drive and maintain over a 210. The best depends on exactly what uses you plan for your roadtrek. Overall I agree that these Chevy bases are the best bang for your buck. They are very comfortable and fellow owners agree. Today’s interiors are not made the same with a luxury feel. They are very practical in set up.
I'm watching in August 2024. Looking at the Pleasure Way but considering the Roadtrek 210. Would you have any opinions on the differences? And any thoughts on the Ford chassis.
Let me start with pleasure way it’s a wonderful product. They claim it to be the Cadillac of the roadtrek one thing I have noticed roadtrek does a little better job of thought out cabinetry and space but other than that very similar either one would be nice. As for Chevy versus Ford, if you’re talking about anything other than the smaller vans I would recommend Ford motorhome but when it comes to the smaller van version, Ford is not the way to go and definitely not Dodge stick with Chevrolet. Everything about them are better gas mileage is much better also the 6.0 Chevy extremely good proven motors all around more comfortable and better performing chassis then the Ford you’re gonna find a 5.4 L ford motor it was a bad design if you found one with V 10 it would be 100% better but your gas mileage will be a lot worse than you could ever get in a Chevrolet Ford v10 will average 8 to 10 miles per gallon and the Chevrolet 6.0 will average normally 12 to 15. I like em, and i considered buying one. The ground clearance and no 4x4 are what kept me away, i got a 2019 sprinter 4x4 instead. Im handy, so building it out, over time, is fine with me. It's great vans, though, and the 6.0 GM is a fantastic, reliable engine, i own several trucks with them.. ✌️
Brother, you just put it all together in one short 8:55 long youtube. Everything I was thinking. I am hot on the trail of a 2005 210 Popular. I like the 190 because it is a bit more sleek but the 210 definitely checks all the boxes for me. I'm a retired mechanic/woodworker (heavy equipment, diesel used to flow through my veins). I have all the skills needed to build my own but why would I when I can go buy a used one for less money then just the empty van now. Sure there will be things wrong with it but there are things wrong with everything now. I don't know much about the 6 liter engine, ran lots of 5.7's with no issues. It should have the 4L80 trans, same as my old truck had, it never caused a problem, just did regular fluid changes. Its a Chevy, every town has a Chev dealer, how many have Mercedes dealers. I sure hope this one I'm looking at is in decent shape
Well, I do wish you good luck. I would say with your mechanical experience. You would find a lot of value in looking for something with closer to 100,000 miles because you could save a lot of money upfront the 6.0 motor is a great motor. We have little to no issues with them I have seen several of these vans with 200,000 miles so I would not be scared to buy one and save money upfront due to higher miles. Hope this helps. I have owned them all. I can tell you the pro master Dodge chassis is horrible if I had to pick between the Mercedes or the Ford transit definitely the Ford, but my number one pick is still the one in the video you cannot go wrong with the Chevy chassis Thank you for your comment

I have a 2003 one ton Chevy 3500 Roadtrek Popular with the 6.0l engine. It runs absoultly fantastic and gets 15 MPG when not towing. I dont beleive your claim of 15 mpg when towing a car trailer with a 210, bet its more like 10 to 11.
Well, I’m pretty sure the vans are real similar gear ratio and even probably horsepower. There may be slightly different but I can 100% guarantee you that I got 15 miles per gallon pulling a 22 ft trailer with a 1966 Corvette on the back of it from South Dakota to Oklahoma. Maybe I had a big wind push me I don’t remember it was in the winter so I am sure I didn’t have the ac running, even if that makes a difference but I have no reason to lie. I have got less gas mileage on other trips even when not pulling anything either way, I was highly impressed and always have been. I’ve owned them all Ford, Dodge, Chevy. 19ft 21ft I still think the Chevy is the best in all categories. I do appreciate your comment. Have a good day.

I use drive-throughs and appreciate that the Roadtrek is short enough. Sprinter, Transit and Promaster are too tall.
