We put a drain plug in a round water heater pan and put it over the floor shower drain. The shower curtain fits in it perfectly. Works great and keeps the floor dry. The pan fits behind the spare tire on back door without tie down.
Im just learning how everything works. I have a 2003 versatile on Chevy chassis but very similar. I think it’s had an inverter installed after market so that’s next on my list to learn.
I have this van - a '97 170 by Roadtrek - I use it just for camping (mostly boondocking). Just a woman and her dog, we leave hubby at home and have the BEST time!
We bought our 96 Dodge 190 Versatile from YOU(Patrick) at Colonial RV 3 years ago and it's till going strong! Been cross country 3 times, up and down the East Coast, and we semi full timed in it for 7 months- 3 traveling and 4 at a campground. Getting ready to go cross country again in January! It is truly VERSATILE!!
Great video, very helpful as I’m a senior lady looking at used Roadtreks to find the best one for myself. Nice gentleman who offered lots of good info. Thanks for posting this.
This was pretty neat ... the shower idea is nice as well ( I know he is not using it that way) Patrick .. you find the most amazing people ...and I know I said this before ..I love that you let them "talk" and tell their story ..🌟

Really great video !! N he explains alot too ..like why he got into full time , very interesting man to listen to ! 😊 ...first time comment ...long time watcher ...trying to watch all your videos !!
I almost bought a 98 Roadtrek 170 but ended up with a 2005 on the Chevy 2500 chassis. Great little van, easy to drive and park. I use it 2 ways, #1 when my wife and I travel, I use a swing away bike rack to carry our tandem bike. I have to keep it short so the front wheel has to come off but is mounted on a wheel tray next to the bike. 2nd way I use it is when I do solo gravel bike or mtn bike events, I carry both bikes inside that are mounted side by side with the front wheels off of course. It's tight but it still allows enough room for one person to sleep in back. This allows me not to worry about locking my bikes out side on a rack and keeps them clean when going down gravel roads. I use everything on my Roadtrek, shower, ac, microwave and even the Onan generator mounted under the van. Biggest Reason why I like the 170 is it fits in my garage after raising the header a bit. Keeping it protected helps keep it looking like new, I don't drive it in snow so no rust. Good luck!
Every time I see your rig Patrick I smile. It’s so jacked with everything. I’m a big fan of old class B motor homes and your airstream is so awesome ❤️ Sweet Dodge . 💕
I just bought a 1995 190 Versatile. Original owner with 88,000 km. It has been meticulously maintained and its like stepping back in time. I'm loving it!
I like this van. It's factory built from Dodge. I like the video great interview. I have the exact same van. The video is very helpful for me because I've just inherited it. And that the video was helpful for me because I have know idea how to fill up the propane tank nor the water. But I'll use this video to help. Thanks.
Love the Roadtrek’s. I Bought my 190 for the shower room. RT design has more isle room to shower then most class B’s. To one is his own. Thanks for sharing. Happy Trails gentlemen
Adorable van! I noticed Tommy's developed calf muscles and knew he was a cyclist right away. Nice legs, Tommy! I bet you are French Canadian or French, but of Middle Eastern origin from your speech. There is so much wisdom you learn by downsizing to a van. I feel the same way that you don't need a lot of what you have. However, what do I do with my tools? I like to build stuff and have tools for garage, tools for kitchen, sewing, repair, gardening, jewelry making. I could not give up my tools. I'd go nuts. So I am still in a house, sigh. But getting there slowly.

Hey Patrick, I noticed a new Colonial RV lot on Rte 33, in NJ. Fighting back the urge to window shop lol. I ❤ the size of this van. He's chosen to have just what he needs, no more no less. From what's been shown, the place is neat and clean. The person who described this tour as "dismal," obviously has not seen videos (on another channel) of the vanlifers with no buildouts, utilizing only sleeping bags and canvas bags in their effort to live as minimally as possible. In fact there are many critics of vanliving in general. My philosophy is live and let live. JMO
This is a real Roadtrek by home and park, great little camper, I have one myself here in the uk. Roadtreks by hymer using the European vans have no style. Nice video, thanks for sharing it.
And this whole time I thought you was just a salesman I've been watching you at colonial for a while but I stumbled across this channel I thought this is a really good channel man keep up the good work
Hymer didn't come into the picture until about 3 1/2 years ago until collapse . I think they were called the Home and Liesure company before they just went with Roadtrek. Thanks for the video. Happy Trails

New sub here. Found you from Carey on Vagabond touring your cool van. We have a 2001 Roadtrek 190 Versatile. We love it, except for the cross-wise sleeping in the back. Would have preferred the twin bed option of the 190 Popular. We are not full-timers, just retirees who like to go camping.
Patrick I love your videos and the detail you get out of everyone. I’m wondering where you would recommend people look for these vehicles for sale outside of eBay, craigslist and Auto/RV trader. There has to be some sort of forum I don’t know about. Thanks!
These older Vans are the precursor to the bigger Bs like the Winnie View, etc. and are, IMHO the very minimum that I would use as a weekend camper or an occasional road tripper. I had a 2007 View for some time that I thought was just too big. I am rethinking that now.
At minute 2:14, just as the man is going to enter, there is the wood of the closet. The sun burned that part? because the glass is like a magnifying glass???? :O Dangerous !!!!
This is a Roadtrek, they had no affiliation with Hymer until way after this RV was manufactured, 2016 to be exact. Nice video but please don't taint the original Roadtrek integrity.
What a great video. I have been a vandweller for three years, from a Sienna to a RAM1500 to a 97RT Dodge Versatile. I bought it in horrible conditions and it has taken me 6 months to bring it up to speed both the camper and the chasis, it had been abandoned for five years with lots of water damage. Anyway, the 97 model does not have the space for a generator. I take that yours is connected to the Propane; however, do you leave the generator inside the compartment when being used? I stay in the city during the week and park in parking lots or regular streets, I would not be able to take the generator out every time. I am in FL and it is getting hot. How do you work your generator? Thank you.
I saw this exact unit today and what he is NOT telling you is that the back bed is 42 inches deep by 68 inches wide, so I am 5'8 and my head was CRAMMMED into the side. HORRRRRRIBLE for anyone but SHORT people!
