    Nice one! I’ve recently purchased an Ibis Ripmo V2s frame new here in NZ and switched over all my high end components of my old Trek Slash 9.8 frame. Unreal bike. Climbs super well and descends really well also.

      Same here. I've been riding V2S for almost a year and I just love how this bike ascends and descends. Curious about the V3, but yes... maybe in a year or two. You may watch some footages of ripmo in action on my channel. Cheers.

      @ I don’t feel the need to change. The new Ripmo would be quite a bit more heavy due to the swat box. This is pretty much the best bike I’ve ever owned to date. Noticed an instant improvement in my riding.

      @@JJaguar333 it’s just my curiosity and the way V3 looks. I just like it but you’re right. I read quite often that people mention about V3 weight that it increased.

    Hey Greg, thanks for the detailed bike check. Quick question about the shock... can it be overstroked to 62.5 or 65 mm instead of 60, or would that negatively impact performance?

    Hey Greg, Nice Bike check! Do you happen to know what Tune ( Rebound and Compression)values the Vivid you ride has? Got a V3 as well and wouldn't mind trying Rock shox for a change.

    Another great video. Just wondering about opinions on kryptotal and argotal in soft vs super soft compounds. Thanks. Hope to see you up Ticknock again soon

      @greg_callaghan  Місяць тому +1

      I’ve only tried the super soft compound so can’t really compare. But loving it.

  • @borthwey

    My perception about front end height is the exact opposite, regarding confidence and the fear of going over the front when things get steeper/rougher/faster. A lower bar gives me more confidence. I had the most attack confidence when I was running a zero rise bar with a 31mm stem and no spacers. It does lead to more fatigue though, and it's harder to pull up the front for jumping etc. For jumping a more upring position is definitely better, but for pure attack confidence a low or even very low bar just works.

      That’s the thing with bike set up, it’s all rider and trail specific.

  • @852-d
    @852-d 27 днів тому

    Interesting vid! I like your theory on the rebound setting related to track. That makes a lot of sense. Do you do it from trail to trail in a race or set it up for the day and leave it? Also, what kind of range would you use? Are we talking +/- 1-2 clicks or a bigger range? Cheers! Great content

    • @greg_callaghan
      @greg_callaghan  16 днів тому

      Generally I wouldn’t change anything during a race. Only if there’s extreme changes from stage to stage, which is rare. Just 1/2 clicks max.

    Out of curiosity do you know what tension you run in your spokes and is the front softer than the rear for the compliance you are talking about?

  • @travelthenarrowtrail8660
    @travelthenarrowtrail8660 Місяць тому

    Hey Greg, I'm surprised you are not running a 230 X 65 Vivid on your Ripmo. Who knows, maybe you do and you didn't talk about. I run that shock at that size for 160mm Ripmo v3. I did a video on this set up. Talk about traction! With a Vivid, that bike at 160 is mint for enduro repeated chunk. Rear tire is no where close to touching the seat tube. You would love the bike for racing. I recommend highly, perhaps time for testing now for the offseason. 160mm Ripmo, who needs the HD6.

    Do you think it's worth it to replace a Fox Float X with a X2 or a Vivid to have a more enduro-focused bike ? I'm riding a Canyon Spectral from 2022

    • @greg_callaghan

      21 front, 23 rear is my go to. It can go up 2 or 3 psi from there if it’s really fast, but not very often. With and without inserts.
