  • Episode 1 takes us from the application process to meeting our riders and the team behind them. We meet up at the Phase II camp at ENVE HQ in Ogden, UT to get our bikes, do some bike fits, lactate testing and most of all get to know each other before the chaos of the racing season.
    - - - -
    As a reminder, Phase II is about giving two young athletes the opportunity to compete in three of the Life Time Grand Prix events with pro-level equipment, mechanic support, and mentorship. The mission is to create a successful and sustainable pathway from high school leagues to a potential professional cycling career that can be copied and used by other athletes/companies as the development pathways grow. There is a large gap between high school racing and the biggest races in the U.S., making it very tough to jump into the Life Time Grand Prix as an 18 year old, Phase II provides the stepping stone needed for a young athlete dreaming of a career as a bike racer.

    This is SO cool. Really looking forward to seeing their progress. Thanks @alexey for doing this and executing this top-notch program. ENVE did a great job hosting them with the lactate testing, too!

    Wow! Alexey and Avery, well done for spearheading this project... it is so cool to see young aspiring riders get the kind of support which will allow them to strive for their fullest potential. I hope the best for Phase II, and and that with continuing support, perhaps it could develop into a full on Junior Development Team for aspiring racers.

      Thank you very much for the kind words! That is the goal! If we can turn Phase II into a full devo team that will be a big success. Just trying to figure out the finances of it all!

    random question, what is your go to airplane travel bike bag?

    • @alexeyandavery
      @alexeyandavery  16 днів тому

      Depends on the bike, but my go to for bikes that I can easily remove handlebars is the EVOC bike bag PRO, seems to be the safest. For bikes that are more of a struggle with integrated cables, I like the Scicon Aerocomfort 3.0

    Bike check? What Shimano group set is that? 2x12 di2 or new unreleased 1x13???

      They were both on the Shimano GRX RX820 1x12 Mechanical setup.

      @competitivecyclist interesting…but surprised to see mechanical on a MOG with in-route stem cable routing. I know it’s doable, but probably not ideal. Shimano needs to up their wireless gravel game…
      Thank-you for replying!!

      @paulwojcik1920 Місяць тому +1

      Leave mechanical shimano stuff alone. It works incredibly well and is dependable. If you want electronic go sram

    • @Neruda2222
      @Neruda2222 Місяць тому +1

      The group set held up perfectly throughout the whole season no problems!! The mechanical was nice because we never had to worry about a battery dying.

    • @samd6405
      @samd6405 Місяць тому

      @@paulwojcik1920 you missed my point. I personally prefer mechanical Shimano over anything wireless. But the Enve MOG poses many tight cable bends with internal routing through the stem/headset. Not to mention difficulty feeding the cables through the limited space within the stem. Good to know shifting was not compromised as I’ve heard otherwise.

    How would one end up in phase II?

    • @alexeyandavery
      @alexeyandavery  Місяць тому

      This past year there was an application process through enve.com/phase2 - we are moving towards a full development platform that is more fused on managers reaching out to riders. You can always connect with ENVE through the sponsorship form at the bottom of their website under the 'Support' tab
