    Struggled with death wobble on my ‘08 JKU for years. Easily 10+ years. Bandaids (like synergy components, Etc) here or there would tighten things up a tad, but still didn’t feel great and the wobble would rear its ugly head a few months down the line. Went full Yeti on my JK’s front end and WOW. Steering feels better than when it was brand new, off there lot! You guys are the official cure to the death wobble!

    Just went full Yeti on my JKU- drag link with attenuator, track bar with relocate bracket, and tie rod with stabilizer. Handles better than stock with 4” lift and 37’s! I love my Yeti!

    Just added the Yeti HD Tie rod and drag link to my Jeep Gladiator after some death wobble. Fixed it immediately, no shaking or feedback in the steering wheel using the stock steering stabilizer. Upgraded to a fox 2.0 stabilizer and the steering is tighter than any jeep or vehicle I’ve ever driven. 2” lift, 37” tires

    The same thing happened on my 19'JLU Rubicon when I took the dampner off thinking I don't need it. Boy was I wrong! The dampner is crucial to keeping death wobble from happening. Once I put mine back on no worries runs perfect. I installed the Yet track-bar with the HD bracket, Draglink with attenuator and Tierod all from Steersmarts. The dampner is a must-have and I run 37's.

    I had about 700 miles on my JL after I installed a 2.5 inch lift. Went on the interstate and bad shimmy's started to happen....I shimmid my pants. Installed a new Yetti track bar and problem solved.

    I'm looking at this steering set up on North Ridge 4X4 and I see a note that if I have a Metalcloak lift it's not compatible? I have a 3.5 inch game changer set up from Metalcloak. I saw litebrite install it on their jeep with the MC lift just like mine. I have the wobble. The drag link flip kit should help but concerned about the fit with the MC. Please advise. Thanks

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  4 роки тому

      Fred Hazlett you don’t want to run a top mount on a JL / JT until about 5” of lift because of interference issues with the frame if you don’t have appropriate bump stops. The parts work no problem with metal cloak, you just don’t want to run a top mount.

    What amazes me the most that in 2018, Jeep still couldn't make parts that didn't shake and try to murder you just by driving and hitting a small bump...
    I'm half a century old. In my life, my Jeep JK Unlimited has, by a mile, been the worst vehicle I have ever owned. IN MY LIFE.

    I have the Yeti top mount drag link for JL. I find that after centering the steering wheel the cheap wants to go to the left or to the right just lightly. The drag link doesn’t appear to be too long, but would you recommend shortening it slightly?

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  5 років тому +1

      Have you checked your ball joints? We have noticed on the JL's that they have been loosening up and this could definitely be contributing to the problem you're describing. Also curious if you're running a stabilizer and whether or not that stabilizer is charged like a fox 2.0. Those types of stabilizers exert a constant force and can cause a similar type of issue to what you're talking about. Shoot us an e-mail to sales@steersmarts.com to respond as it is easier to communicate that way rather than back and forth on here. Thanks for checking out the video and for running the products.

      Steer Smarts the Jeep has 9k miles on it and this wasn’t an issue prior. It’s pretty subtle, but there

      @@AmericanJeeper - the stiffness and rigidity of our products can accentuate issues that were previously less or unnoticeable. What is your toe set at? What parts of ours are you running?

    • @AmericanJeeper
      @AmericanJeeper 5 років тому

      Steer Smarts I haven’t checked the toe. My things were maybe you have run into it before. I am only running the Yeti XD with the 3.5” Maximus-3 Geo-Lift. Previously had a 2.5” lift no issue.

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  5 років тому +1

      @@AmericanJeeper you're running a trackbar relocation bracket, correct? We have not had any issues with our products with what you're describing. What tie rod and track bar are you running? Could be something related there, but I also highly recommend checking the torque on your ball joints. There are numerous reports of JL Jeeps having ball joints come loose after use.

    whats the differences between the poly and rubber bushings on the track bar??.....is one better then the other?

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  Рік тому

      The polyurethane is going to be a stiffer durometer than the rubber and is better for vehicles running 35" and bigger tires. The Poly is also not affixed to the inner and outer sleeves, so it will also have better rotation for articulation off-road.

    My 18 JL has the wobble and it wanders. Seems like there is to much play in the steering wheel ! I can move it back and forth almost 2 inches and it goes straight! My dealer doesn’t care , said it a Jeep thing . Starting to hate it . Any idea on a fix ?

    Your bolts are loose

  • @ialsafa
    @ialsafa 4 роки тому

    Isn't this actually more attributed to unbalanced wheel and tire once you jack up the lift and get bigger tires?

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  4 роки тому

      That can play a role, but our stock sport jlu with small tires had terrible death wobble from the dealer.

    you took the stabilizer off, of course you are going to get death wobble any first year high school auto shop student knows not to take that off.

    • @SteerSmarts
      @SteerSmarts  5 років тому +6

      That's not true. If you watched the entire video you'd notice that with our products, there is no wobble, and we still have not put a stabilizer on. With a properly set up front end, no stabilizer is needed. We have a Jeep on 40's that was driven from Detroit to Vegas and back with no stabilizer, and not once did it have even a hint of death wobble.

      @@Lee-gc2mq Did you even watch the video? If so, did you actually pay attention? What you're saying makes no sense as the jeep in the video DID have death wobble, which is why it came to us in the first place. Your comments are irrelevant and make no sense. There is enough misinformation out there already, please don't contribute to the confusion.
