I almost purchased an LE in a small Fawkner , Melbourne Car Yard I thing it was called Coachmotors or something , it was next to Gowrie Railway Station , plates were LE something that would have been around 1984 or 5 , I had a HQ Statesman and only reason I didnt end up buying it was they wouldnt give me enough for my Statesman as a trade in , from memory it was just under 4k , it sat there for a long time
Yes mate the only reason I bought mine was I had a HQ 2 door and young and dumb ran out of money and sold it. Then 1yr later and a heap of regret was looking and it was all I could find had the HQ bum. I never really like it at the start but she is my baby these days.
hi , Basically a later version of a HQ LS Monaro .If your lucky rear disc brakes and factory sun roof ,central locking , demister [heated] rear window . I prefer chrome bumpers ,painted cheapens the car . Another way u can tell if its a good example is if the tinted glass that comes with Aircon option is still fitted . Good to see this has not been irreversibly modified .
Hey thanks Paul it is a lot like a Hq when I bought it I thought they were leftover Hq body’s with a HX front but over time I have learnt that the dash behind the fire wall is built differently. There was no factory central locking or rear disc brakes for these cars and as far as I know the only factory sunroof is on the original prototype That Leo Patroni built for himself. She is no show car but it is what it is a 46yr old car that can turn the tyres and heads The kids love it and it’s something different that gets a lot of attention 👍
Hey no worries. We have been doing more road trips and camping destinations and are keen to check out your part of this big country. I have been slack we have about 10 videos to drop just been saving them up to try and keep the momentum going.
I use to work at a bakery in Seymour vic ... with a guy we use to call Boris ... He had one of these LE Coupes ... very nice car for its time ....
