Man, I was watching this game at the BWW's in Statesboro in hopes of it being another time like when the Eagles beat Florida. Place was live right up to the end of the game. The Eagles lost but put on a hell of a fight. Hail Southern!
This team was made up of absolute ballers. Some of the best to ever come through GSU at one time. Ellison, Upshaw, Breida, Ramsby, Fields as playmakers then guys like Dobson, Kwon, Koo, Ironhead, etc. Amazing time to be an Eagles fan in 2014-2015, those guys really brought it. The scoop and score here was insane, we took a massive crowd to Athens.
@@tommyboynton3298 I guess that means you played with Jamal Johnson? He’s a buddy of mine. I graduated from southern last year, sad to see where the program is at right now
Southern's QB Kevin Ellison went to Gainesville just two years earlier and "Drained The Swamp" vs. the Gators. Appalachian State and Georgia Southern are both great programs.
As a Georgia fan, I wasn't surprised that this happened. Georgia Southern are a very good team, and Richt's players might have been thinking, "Sun Belt. We got this." Plus, Georgia were a mediocre team that year and somehow still managed to finish 9-3.
@@HunterDavisTubaPlaying in 2019 we went 12-2 our defense only gave up 11 ppg our offense was horrendous but 2019 Dawgs were much better then this dawg team.
I am born and raised in Georgia (Cherokee) and was a Dawg fan long before I thought about College. I ended up going to Kennesaw State (wish I could have gone to UGA) but of course I'm still a HUGE DAWG FAN. However, it will be a surreal day when my Dawgs take on my Alma Mater Between The Hedges. I literally can't pull against my Dawgs, but I do hope KSU plays a good game and represents themselves well. Go Dawgs, and Hooty Hoot! Lol
I watched the game on television. As a Dawg fan (now a Georgia Southern student), I was relieved but that was dumb going for it on 4th and short where the FG takes the lead. Georgia Southern has a team that can beat within the teams of our Conference but not gives a team like Clemson hell.
You'd think they would have something up their sleeves to get that first down on 4th & 1. Nah, just a direct snap play. Didn't know what I was expecting.
That was the first year they were FBS. We’ve had okay seasons since then but as a fan of both schools i will say when GSU is good they’re a big problem. This year not so much, the program is in a rebuilding stage rn tho.
And then Georgia Southern suffered their worst ever home loss to Georgia State 2 weeks later. I know "transitive property doesn't apply to College Football" and all of that buuuuuuuuut it kinda makes me wonder what would have happened if it was Georgia State vs that UGA team...
Taylor Peyton they would've gotten demolished. GAg State had to beat GS to even be bowl eligible, while at the same time our head coach was announcing his move. That's like GS annihilating South Alabama this year, who beat Troy, who beat LSU. GS found their way later on, but would have gotten creamed by LSU. Let's not pretend that GA State hasn't lost to their FCS opponent at least the last 2 years consecutively, and that's just as far as I can remember. Losing to GA State (and also NHU this year) is always an embarrassment for GS, no matter the series record.
I bet every big school in Georgia wants beat the UGA so bad. We've seen Georgia Southern vs UGA. UGA vs GT. But not Kennesaw State who is pretty good and Georgia State which is aight🤷🏽♂️. But in my opinion some people wanna see the best FCS team vs the best FBS in Georgia, Kennesaw State vs UGA. Or just FBS vs FBS, UGA vs Georgia State 🤷🏽♂️
On behalf of Richt and this is coming from a Bama grad living in ga for 30 years: First I like what Kirby has done at Georgia. BUT: and I’ve seen this happen in so many levels. I don’t care what you SEE or how long it’s been there. YOU DO NOT go for it on some trick play. On 4th down. AT MIDFIELD. With 4 minutes on clock. Against number 1 BAMA. They weren’t fooled and I wasn’t fooled. Fields was back to block for punter on left side of ball. Where were the other two blockers? If you’re gonna fall on your sword at least do it convincingly. Im 62 years old. This is the worst coaching decision I’ve ever seen ever, High school college, or pro. The next worst decision ever seen by me is having a 14 point lead and then just decide as Georgia did to just sit on lead with that 8 man defensive backfield and 3 man rush after you kicked butt in the first half. Bama was catching the uncontested passes five to ten yards from anyone. You can blame this one on the coaching staff. The players have to do what they say. GA will never have a championship if the coaches start thinking outside the box and toss their common sense down the toilet. Don’t think Richt would ever have done this in this particular situation.I know somewhere Munson is crying! “Look at the manure falling from the sky! Look at the manure falling from the sky!”And I guarantee you another thing: you put Steve Spurrier on the sideline with the dogs and that last half never happens. Spurrier would never do anything stupid like that against Alabama. He could take those same guys and cleaned the field up with Bama. They would. Ever have had a chance after getting down by two TD! Spurrier would have turned out the lights! The party would have been over! And you can take that to the bank!
Mitchell Harger no, Georgia tech had a three score lead. We came back in the 3rd quarter but a blown call in the final two minutes gave GT the win. ACC refs are fucking horrible.
I’m gonna be out of town for the next week so there will probably be no uploads until at least next Tuesday.
NOOO I NEED MY COLLEGE FOOTBALL SUPERHERO
Seeing this comment 4 years later🤣
Georgia Southern is no joke, great program with a lot of history. That being said UGA should never have trouble with them
Yooooo, they just beat Nebraska!!!!!! 4 years later
You forget they ran through saban like shit thru a tin horn
You noticed that it was Mark Richt last year at UGA!
Hail Southern!!!
The final straw in Mark Richts UGA coffin....
Cody Cashin yep. That was his last game at Sanford Stadium and we won at overtime against a team like GSU. Pretty embrassing eh
Nah that was Florida or maybe even Tennesee and the Alabama blow out did not help
So I’m guessing it was Richts fault that the players fumbled twice too right?
It all starts at the top.
@@jmit3491 Thanks from a GASOU alumnus; I was gonna set him straight, but you beat me to it.
The muffed punt was where this game was lost for us. God damn it
destroyall24 bro. I was there in my Blue and I was destroyed. We shouldn’t have been in that game but our boys wanted it. #GATA
Kyle Marcus im so glad I didn’t go bc I probably would’ve had to be escorted out of the stadium via police lol
Give all the credit to the GA Southern players for going in there and making a name for themselves.
5:02 Wow, this was the same week where the same thing happened to Florida and Florida Atlantic
carto0ndude and believe it or not, also the same day Citadel beat South Carolina
Just a weird week man......

Then would completely embarrass Nebraska at home with a 45-42 Victory. And end Scott Frost's Coaching at Nebraska

Do "The Game that Georgia Southern Beat Florida"
Grant Steele yes please
Grant Steele good idea
“Without completing a pass”
Lets not
Looking back GSU had so many opportunities to actually win it
John Pittman they really did pisses me off.
The SEC refs ended this game with the ultimate mistake as an official. Disgraceful
2015 was the year that two SEC teams almost lost in OT to smaller in-state schools.

Do you get paid for this or do they all get claimed

Didn't Georgia Southern give Georgia Tech a good game that year as well
Mitchell Harger they did but that was the previous year. They gave Tech and NC State a run for their money.
