Saw him perform live here in Beaverton, OR a couple of months ago. Have loved his music since the 1970s and such great humor he has, and historical knowledge that he weaved into his songs.
Just love the lyrics of this song: "On a morning from a Bogart movie In a country where they turn back time You go strolling through the crowd like Peter Lorre Contemplating a crime…" His voice sounds exactly like the record 47 years ago. Absolutely amazing. 👍👍

I graduated in 1971, am 70 years old now and still loving this song! About 10 years ago, I did a volunteer stint in Nicaragua and on the local radio they started playing this song - fantastic!
Apparently he was hired for just that one single gig. Al was talking about it during the show that it's a different person for each city...that makes it even more impressive! Definitely a professional. Saxophone and flute fingerings are essentially the same so it's common to be able to play both, it's not like learning an entirely new instrument. His voice is still so recognizable it hardly has changed after all these years just incredible !!!!!!
I think it's because he wsn't a "screamer" like Steppenwolf's John Kay or CCR'S John Fogerty so his voice still sounds like it did back in the day.
