always did. still do takes MORE money and MORE work. but you cant knock the automatic for what it is either. takes a special person to run a stick......
My old man used to be able to speed shift like that. He could here the engine on the verge of valve float then shift. That was getting the most out of hi po engine from that era. He was in management for GM in the late 60s. He once had a '68 Camaro he got for the weekend with a prototype 396. It had well over 500hp. With street tires he got mid 11s with it on one run! The crowd at the strip went ape shit! Miss him and those times. Those were the best years for the car manufacturers! Period!
Folks these days think it's better to build an automatic transmission, then guess about what torque converter they need. You can't really know until you've put one in and made several passes. I've always been a manual transmission guy myself. Although I have had a few automatics that were dialed in pretty well that served me well. I've always gotten better reaction times and 60 ft numbers with an automatic. But i just love and prefer a manual shift.
I bought a 69 chevelle in 80,s for 125 bucks..original 250 c.i 3 spd standard on column. It had a 283 when I got car.but with the 3rd pedal already in it.i was a 4spd guy now.so much fun with a stick.
It’s just the temporary pulse from high rpm to low rpm oil moving through the galleries, it catches up when the pressure equalizes it’s the volume you need!
Back when real hot rods had 3 pedals! Wish I could go back, loved every minute.......

11 seconds that's cute
Yep ,I was there.
You ain't kiddn.
A real driver in an awesome 427 Camaro. Makes you wonder where all the stick shift race cars went. Wish I were him...lol
Unfortunately with modern tech, autos have became more efficient with better runs times. Stick will always be more fun though

Very nicely done, reminds me of my self 30 years ago, most of the action was on the streets.
He same here awesome.
Pure awesomeness!!! Thats how a car should sound!! Not like these little fart can hondas.
That's what my high school parking lot sounded like from 1970-1973.
That was a treat to watch.
Nice pass sir! I love shifting a Muncie with a Hurst Ram-Rod inline shifter!! Sounds healthy as heck too!
Excellent shifting !
Perhaps a Jerico 4-Speed clutchless shift racing transmission.

Gotta love a manual transmission.
Memories
Looks like the old RAM 4 inline shifter!
Love it!
Sweet Music
8k plus shifts. 3.75 stroke goes through lights at 7k
Solid gold
Awesome
427 cu inch a good sound for my ears😅
This is how yo drive a stick car!
HA...RAY. IT'S A STICK. 😉👍
looks like the manual transmission in this car is not an M-22 ...something is different I think.
he shifted up for 3rd gear, plus runs in stock class so stock trans
Stock class does not use stock trans. This is either a jerico or g-force.
Looks like the oil pressure gets pretty low past the traps after you push the clutch in.
Grumpy always said ....ya dont need pressure just volume !
it came right back
