I removed and installed the trans in the stepside by myself, lol. A truck lift was a huge help. Had the trans jack sitting on a table I rolled under the truck 😂. It worked.
I did a 4L80 swap on my CUCV with the cheapo $90 Harbor Freight jack. I did separate the 205 off of it so twice as much work but it did it. Not bad for doing it alone in a storage unit.
I actually cut an access panel in the bottom of my cab so I can pull the transfercase out from within the cab using an engine hoist after removing the seat of course. Way easier to handle just the 4l80e by itself, although that is no small task either.
@@WillometMotorFab A figure 8 32 spline np205 and a nwfab adapter. I would have to tilt the transfercase to clear the last 2-3" but it should be doable with a sling and an engine hoist. The addition of a magnum box would make it a bit more complicated but probably doable. Ive got pictures if your interested.
Is that Magnum transfer case an off-road only (or mostly) transfer case or can it be driven on pavement regularly or at highway speeds? I’ve never seen one before and it looks like quite a solid piece of machinery.
The magnum is definitely ...geared... toward the harder core offroad crowd, but it does just fine on the highway. I've run it for a little over 10 years and have maybe 50,000 miles on it.
I will tell you want happen when the torque converter does not go into the pump properly. Let’s say you installed the engine and the transmission together with out the pump and converter didn’t line up. 1 the car won’t move after you start and put in drive. 2 you will wreck that transmission pump gear is pieces. 3 transmission got chunks of metal pieces inside from the broken pump gear. 4 if you are not a wimp you can rebuilt the transmission and clean the transmission and install a new pump. 5 or you can replace the transmission with a new one and call it good. Make sure the transmission and the torque converter goes in all the way. Save yourself some time and trouble :)

That’s luxury dude. The older I get, the more I want a lift. Remind me what trans is in the step side.
@@WillometMotorFab currently has the 700r4 with 208 t-case.
A lift is a total game changer.

Dude that’s great for a solo effort! That low pro jack looks like a good deal.
I've been wanting to do the OBDR for years. I'm excited to see your journey through it.

Well that’s pretty clever. What transfer case do you run?

@@honest8bob I'm actually thinking about that concept for the wagoneer. It's a good idea!
A minor tip. Put anti-seize on the transmission dowels.
Great idea!

@@WillometMotorFab What’s your average highway MPG’s with the power going thru it?
Latest is 14.5 fully loaded with a tent on the roof.
I'm wondering if I can adapt either the new GM 8 speed slush box or the Allison 10 speed on a P400 6.5 🤔
I think the bell housings continue to be the same. A 6L90 should definitely work, too. I’m thinking about that swap myself.
@@WillometMotorFab Ima save up some cash to do this project! P400 8 speed or 10 speed here I come!!!

Yeah, it’s actually hard to put it all together without the pump engaged. That’s good, because there’s only downside if not!
