Thanks! This video helped me realize that my BIOS didn't yet have NVMe support. I have an ASUS H97M-PLUS mobo (pretty close). The support page mentions NVMe support with BIOS release Version 2501 2015/04/22!! Banged my head for hours. (It had support for m.2 SATA and PCI-E but not NVMe)
I don't get it, the disk isn't detected in the BIOS and none of the changes help. Suddenly at 4.19 it is there. What did you do to make the BIOS detect the M.2 disk?
Is it possible to dual boot Win7 and Win10 from NVME? Specifically with the H97 board too, if you know from experience. Getting one soon and have come to understand NVME was very new or rare to see in this era. And that transfer speed is capped around 850MB/s on this one. Still a nice little speed boost compared to SATA SSD limitations.
Hello sir. Thank you for your help, very unintuitive steps from Asus… Does this mean that we cannot use a 3070 video card anymore? I am asking as there was a warning with pci express being disabled in your video.
after shutdown sometimes, did you get the screen goes to Windows directly or you getting to BIOS again ? Because every morning, my PC with H97 Pro Gamer is always getting to BIOS all the time. What is wrong with that, please ?
How come my bios doesn’t show that “M.2 PCIe mode”? I have H97M plus. I have no problem before, but after I flashed updated the bios, the M.2 is not listed in boot options. I have to manually click the “boot f8” in lower left to enable booting to m.2. Help please thanks!
would i have to do this again if i just upgrade my WD/Black M.2 Drive from the 250GB to a 500GB ?? or just do the windows installation? Great video 👍🏼its been a while since i did this i forgot, LOL.i know you have to mess around with the Setting in the Bios to get ur M.2 Drive to be recognized it can be a headache the first time of installation, that's why i am going to keep this video on my favorite videos List to remember in case i want to do new PC Build. One more question i see you have 3 fans going in Bios, mine only has the CPU spinning, not the other 2, But all work fine on my PC, just asking how did you get them to spin in the Bios 0:41

fresh unformatted M.2 drive do not have any other drive connected change to M.2 mode and it should just work, that is how I got my 970 evo to work on my old H- 97 M plus.
Sorry for the late reply. It was some Chinese or japanese origin software. I couldn't remember exactly. I think it would be macrium reflect or AOMEI. I was trying with multiple softwares and finally got everything correctly.
M.2 NVME 2260 or 2280 I believe (may want to double check). Though I'm sure you prob figured it out by now. About to get one myself and NVME is all new to me. This board allegedly caps data transfer to 850Mb/s though with it being so old, and "cheap fancy" lol. Still a nice little speed increase with SATA SSD having a 560Mb/s limit. I'm wondering if an NVME heatsink is needed with the max speed being so low, considering some drives boast a 10GB/s transfer speed. Logic tells me no, but... ???

@@SFrankRicharrd Hi Bro, Some says the samsung evo pro wont run in its full capabilty speed in this motherboard, If so ,can i inser it in a M.2 slot or i need a Pcie adapter card?
If u use adaptor, i think the speed will be reduced as it is not Directly connected to motherboard. When you connect the ssd directly on the motherboard, you will definitely get performance improvement. If not, get the old type ssd that includes the adaptor itself or changing the motherboard would be the best option to get the extra speed. But, in my machine, its speed varies from 450 to 600 MB per sec, which I'm ok with it. I couldn't get the speed they claimed like 3gb per sec, which will be in testing conditions.. realistically we can't get that much speed on this board
