Chris Liepe has a great interview with Chinchilla and she said Ren reached out to her to ask if she wanted to work with him. She also talks about how the eye contact wasn't really planned - they practice, have a loose idea of where they want to move and then let it develop. They don't over-practice, but everything is still intentional. So the eye contact just developed and clicked. Ren says he and Chinchilla are "musical siblings." You should check out some of her solo stuff. She toured with Sting in 2019 and has her own style that's not quite like this when performing alone. Try, "Fingers" (the live for Hunger TV version) for something uniquely, incredibly her. Then check out, "Little Girl Gone" for something more mainstream yet still very, very Chinchilla. Lol. The music world has needed this. Anyone Ren works with is worth listening to solo. Look for Sam Tompkins and Romaine Axisa, for sure. And also start looking for The Big Push, his former band.

Honest... you didn't just hear this song, you felt it. You have a very, very expressive face. I felt it the same way when I first heard it. When I was 30 I suffered a back injury that radically changed my life. I was put on opioids (and a host of psychotropics to battle the depression and rage I felt at my life being turned upside down). I know exactly what it means to walk around in a floating chalk outline because taking those kinds of meds can gradually kill off the person that you are. They say you need them, so you take them, and then one day you realize you don't know who you are anymore. Honest, I feel like you've been through some stuff in your life too. Not trying to get up in your business, but if it helps then know you aren't alone. 🔥🎶💖😎🙏🏼
They have an incredible chemistry - Ren calls her his musical sibling/"sister from another mister". Chinchilla (real name Daisy Bertenshaw) says that musically they are so similar that it was like meeting a stranger at a party and discovering that they have the exact same sense of humour - a very rare thing. They used to have the same management - not sure if that is how they met
Chinchilla said Ren reached out to her asking to work together. How To Be Me is another live one by them and it’s stunning.
Doing a deep dive into Chinchilla is fun so I recommend Elements the lyric video and Fingers- live and the official video. Then of course Little Girl Gone. She’s a force of nature.

Yes 1 flicker for Ren pulsing with the110v (special transformer to step down the 220v just for Ren's video..lol) and chilla getting two flickers coming from them 220v outlets in the UK.
The cup..what was seen will never be unseen..😂😂 good eye! I like Ren & Chinchilla in “how to be me”..some other reactor said it was filmed on the bridge where his friend died. If you watch RENs “Freckled angel” it’s written about him.

It's incredible isn't it? The live version is just amazing.
They had the same manager for a while and he asked her to collaborate on this. They found they have an "identical" way of working so everything clicked.
How to be Me (live) is even better. Breathtaking timing between them.

The place they performed this 1 take video in is a "found place". Ren finds places in Brighton that are accusticly what he desires. Parking garages, basements, narrow alley ways, stairwells.
I imagine in my head that he has a running catalog of how everywhere there sounds. I can envision him wandering about from time to time doing a few strums on his guitar. Nodding to himself and wandering to find more.
Most all of his videos cost no more then 1,000pounds to make. Recently one went over that amount. But he believes you need to spend what needs to be spent.

I think they met singing and formed a friendship and all of this is from them just playing around together. I think they both consider the other to be their "musical sibling", and it's easy to see why. They're so good together and they just naturally seemed to have found this perfect rhythm in their collaborations.
Both Chinchilla and Ren have commented on how similar their singing and performing styles are. You should check Chinchilla's work: focus on the live versions. They're all good, but the lyric videos are very different. She dumped her management company recently and also does her own production...
If you like hearing him on electric guitar, you should check out the band he was in a most recently (they unfortunately broke up, amicably), The Big Push. Specifically, the I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop video.
Check out Ren and Eden Nash if you havent already. Ocean and Humble both great songs.
Have you seen him busking with Sam Tompkins. I love Hi Ren, Chalk Outlines is my next favorite, I also like Ren with The Push doing I Shot The Sheriff. Everyone he works with is excellent.

In my opinion, the video show 2 ghosts who explain their life having to take some pills to feel good/happy because of mental health problem (or maybe just Chinchilla). The light glitch when the woman appears for her verse for example and the fact they're in white. It's a representation of two souls. The text of this song is so deep and good.
Digging deep is fine dude. Is part of the reason I keep coming back. As you say if we don’t like it, we’ll we can just F off. Cheers

Isnt that glorious? It ia live, and I assume 1 take, as so many of his videos are.
The flickering lights symbolize chaos and uncertainty. They happen when something is unstable.
Edit: At the beginning, all of the books are backward. Maybe for copyright, maybe because it symbolizes that Ren is seeking knowledge, but everything he finds seems backward.

They definitely didn't build it. They find abandoned buildings etc. Whatever they can. Anyone you see in these videos, including guest singers, are friends of Ren. The videos are made for peanuts. Ren's only recently been able to afford to pay to get his hair cut. Before that, he did it himself! :)
