Played against some Platinum Exias last night and it just highlighted how Exia is not only the strongest burst diver in the game but also the safest. There's hardly any risk as long as you're not intentionally feeding kills. The massive mobility and high damage means that she's better than in a game like Overwatch because the relative HP totals of tanks and bruisers in Gun Evo are so much lower than OW. While all tanks have very low RoF primaries so they're unable to put shots on target reliably. Maybe if us tank players got Heavy Arms...maybe.
I'm definitely looking forward to more tank characters being added in the future. But it might also shake up the meta depending on how good they are, since there arent that many true tanks other than arguably sazabi atm

Change the stun from the charge and stun extension from the spin slash to a slow. That way it will emphasize landing those dagger shots while removing one more hard counter against tanks and shields.
Guntanks rocket is on a ten-second cooldown, has the slowest projectile in the game, and only does 360 on a direct hit which includes the splash damage of ~150.
@@era0218 Turn A only feature on it's charged shot is the no falling damage wich Exia has and a critical hit only deals 465 damage while a bodyshot does 310 and a arm/leg 232, that's with a 1s charge...meanwhile we have an exia with a dash combo that can deal up to 1.2k damage...

What if Genji: -lost his double jump and ability to climb -lost dash kill reset +gained 3x tracer dashes +has no damage drop-off +never has to reload +could do 660 out of 800 damage with headshots with one L1 +has a harder-hitting melee attack in a game where melee attacks aren't universal +doomfist dash punch that can be unidirectional +unidirectional dash not tied to tracer dashes +ult that made doomfist dash punch charge faster and have a lower cd +ult that gave him an extra unidirectional dash +ult melee attack that also attacks as a dash
I have a buddy who plays Sazabi. We went up against a team with all 3 melees on it and we simply got zoned out of the points very hard, since they were in close quarters and forced us into them otherwise. It's pretty nuts how hard 1 of these can be to deal with if they get the stun off, but 3 becomes infeasible.
Maybe if Exia were to get a “nerf” or maybe a small rework, I think when Trans-Am ends it shouldn’t reset Exia’s CDs but instead keep them on Cooldown as normal. On the other hand, they could make Exia not gain its CDs for 5 seconds (kind of a bad idea, I know) but in the sense of lore it makes sense, since T-A reduces unit performance after use. At least, this could be a change if Exia keeps its high DPS projectile. Speaking of the GN Beam Daggers. Maybe a change could be the daggers having more damage up close but have lesser damage from afar (of course, only a real good Exia could ever land the daggers from afar). Another alternative could be giving Exia its ability to use the rifle mode of the GN Sword in base, and the powerful daggers for Trans-Am.
your point about tanks being punished is so on point. often times, i’ll queue in as Ash (for molys) but the moment i start realizing they’re mostly tanking, i’ll switch to Exia just to get the tank attentions and more often than not, win the encounters. the hardest counter i’ve experienced is usually a Barbatos. it’s the only unit i’ll overthink when it comes to diving lol

High mobility, Stun, high crit damage, small AOE ability, does damaged through shields. I don't think anybody else can air dash and although other units have air movement the control over his movement in the air is unmatched and you will break peoples ankles trying to track you down. This character is SO much fun to play! The first time I learned you can look down a bit while walking backwards and quick step up and backwards into the air it completely opened up for me.
@@thchampdee look slightly down while moving backwards and use the dash ability. It will launch you backwards and slightly up. Makes dodging barbatos while punishing super easy
this game needs a call for medic button like tf2, so many times I'm 1hp and my methuss is sticking on a full health guy doing nothing completely unaware
honestly kinda confused why they didnt just use the included beam gun on the GN sword as a primary fire instead of it throwing its beam sabers. While harder to hit than other weapons the dmg does seem really high for a mainly melee focused character, and maybe having it use its weaker beam gun as a primary fire wouldve been better to have as a compromise for all the added mobility and burst dmg.
It is probably due to the fact that the devs wanted a “Genji” Archetype in the game, hence its “Shinobi” skin from the DX pack. I think it would be cool if Exia used its rifle in base mode, but used the daggers in Trans-Am, and instead of using the GN Sword in Trans-Am it would use the Beam sabers in both melee abilities instead.

If you dont know at all, Exia all the way to the G00R always had that iconic stun with his dual spin slash in games and it did had that attack on SDGO.

honestly for me all the melee MS feel a bit op but I'm a really casual player just seem like in most of my matches its always the melee boys that are just tearing thru teams and no mater what i try it feel like i just die only times I don't is when I play zaku 2 ranged cuz with it I feel like I can actually get away if I need to.
as main exia i could agree his strong but nerf its mobility nah if the mobility got nerf the next thing that became OP is zaku melee because he has high damage,decent dash, and range basic attack everyone just cant run from zaku melee except zaku range, from my experience as a decent exia player everytime i meet zaku melee i would die just from 3 or 4 slash if the dash only 2 i just couldnt imagine, i can agree if the damage and stun got nerf, and exia ult charge quite fast (sry bad english)
i usually just go asshimar whenever there is a good exia on the other team and poke/harass the hell out of her. exia's mobility is just too good so you need to force her movements. she does also get countered by a decent marasai hook. but that doesn't take away the fact that the 5-7 dashes the exia can do is still broken.
they should add the GN drive debuff after Ult use.. -70% performance [speed,attack, and everyhting] until the for 1min. which in anime and lore. the Trans Am system after Using it render the Gundams with a huge performance debuff until the GN Drive recoves GN particles for normal use.
1. As a casual only (i don't know how it is in ranked) my experience has been either my team curbstomping enemy team or enemy team curbstomping my team I rarely ever get a math where it's in-between. How about you guys. 2. This game definitely needs a balancing patch, but considering this is bandai namco I'm not confident. 3. It's just funny to me that some mobile suits are made to be similar to their overwatch counterparts just wouldn't make sense lore wise.
Exia is SUPER imbalanced. It's so obnoxious dealing with one as a z2r main simply because it can out speed me and keep me at mid range where I do nothing to it. I honestly think z2r being given a right click to aim down sights and tighten his spray up might actually be a decent check to it since he can keep up and they're both in the same health class

I find that the kryptonite to the Exia is the Guntank. Almost every time I face an Exia, my Guntank just wrecks it. Keep distance, constantly move, and constantly fire. That's my strategy.
@@tejoadi4349 True but that depends on the map and player. Each map has certain suits that thrive on them. I also enjoy Zaku II Ranged but have had better luck with the Guntank as of late.
dont think it should be stupid more, maybe like a 1600 saza, but it gives them more room to play against the combo duo of barbatos and Exia. and i think both of them should keep their mobility, but barbs should maybe not have its stuns and Exia add a more risk
Okay so I see where you're coming from, but here's my take on things. Don't touch the number of dashes, exia has 800 hp if people are looking at you then you're dying without those dashes. You could increase the time it takes for Exia's dashes to charge and that would make it so the exia player needs to monitor when they actually have dashes. I think they could touch up the stun by making full charge(the stun) take longer and slow you down more as you're charging it. As for the damage on range, you could probably lower it by 1/3 and that should be just enough to not be oppressive at range.
12:22 i think that's good that the design it for fun or coolnesz You can always tweek the numbers later on. Like instead of 100 dmg be 70 dmg, or lowering speed ir have stun duration go from 2 seconds to 0.2 seconds Designing for fun first and what is cool is always the best.
It's bullshit that melee rips through shields when there's enough methods to counter them. Shield should mini stun an enemy that attacked with melee instead (not counting ults)
i wish they will remove the stuns on brawlers or mainly close ranged MS, if Z2R cant stun, Barba and exia shouldnt be able to, maybe give Barba one stun, which is the sword drop, but nerf his dmg overall. Barba atm is broken but can easily be dealt with once you understand how to dodge him. Exia on the other hand can carry the team.
Honestly i feel this game is surprisingly well ballanced the only character i generally find to be in need of a nerf personally is Exia, some people whine about barba but honestly barbatos has plenty of hardcounters same with zaku melee, but exia? thanks to his ranged poke and yea 5 dashes he is just entirely differnt and only "hard" counter i can see is a good GM sniper player
Maybe I've been up against low skill players, but I find Barbatos is somewhat decent at chasing down an Exia. Zaku is also good to make them retreat. Can rarely kill them, but making them fall back while your team pushes is good enough for me.
Genuinely feels like Exia is their darling child and they couldn’t fathom it being anything other than top tier. No one character should be able to do the entire teams job.
Hey I was wondering how strong Barbatos actually is at higher ranks? I've played him here and there for fun on casuals but I'm not sure if I want to invest more time in him or not, I'm a competitive player and I want to see how far I can minmax the game that's why I'm asking
@@Dunmuir don't you feel like the audio queues of the right click kinda make him predictable? I'm sure that any decent player with a character that has 2 dashes can counter him easily, he might still be useful against sazabi, Dom trooper, gm sniper etc. I might be saying that because I haven't encountered a really good Barbados player yet though.
The easiest and most impactful you could nerf Exia is just... Increase his CDs... That's it. It's not as safe anymore but still retain the high dmg and high burst mobility
Granted there have been matches where we played against a new exia who thinks just buying a new character off the bat will get you instant wins but didnt perform well at the end of the day but the exia players who know what they are doing I just get killed nine times out of 10.
They should make trans-am affect exias abilities after the ult finishes. In the anime when they use trans-am it lowers the performance of the gundam so maybe have it like his ability are in like a cooldown instead of it him getting it back, also they should have just use exia's gun as his primary fire instead of the daggers
I’m not gonna lie tho this character is strong but tbh whenever I play exit no one targets me like no one watches off flanks and stuff not like downplaying the character but damn some people in this game just hella dumb
Reminds me of LoL season 3. The certain bruisers had enough damage to blow up everyone including tanks, but also had the HP to survive anything as long as they don't engage when low on health.
In my journey to gold rank 2 as Exia main, I don't think it needs any nerfs for two main reasons: 1. It has the highest skill requirements imo ( I know I'm not one to talk with only gold 2 rank LOL). It can't just thoughtlessly engage in battle with its squishy hp - not like the other two brawlers with 1K hp and 1.2K hp who can tank some hits -. You have to position yourself in a way that you can pick off a QUICK kill and immediately get out of the way to nearby covers before you got shut down by their friends. You can only do this if you have a significant amount of hours playing Exia in many different scearios. You have to find that good feeling with its combo (hold slash to stun, land 3 headshot with its primary weapon, skill 1 to slash, land 3 more hits with primary weapon, and dash away to find cover). 2. It can be somewhat easily countered in close range. Other mobile suits are there to counter Exia (kinda). Marasai with its hook combo which can immediately delete Exia, Turn A with its grapple followed by headshot, Gudam with its flail, etc. With Exia's squishy HP, every kill attempts are very risky. So with these reasons I don't see why it needs any nerfs, if anything I do think that other mobile suits need buffs, such as Mahiroo with its skill sets, Turn A with its grapple having a significant time lag, etc.
Fighting against Exia is simple, listen for the charge attack. It's squishy, give some space so you'll see where it goes. It's there to harass people or pick off people going solo. Been bullying Exia players with the Metthus, GM and Guntank lmao For Sazabi players lure it away from repair pickups, or hog the repair pickup. Tight spaces is your advantage since you got your shotgun and shield. Dom Trooper players are the most vulnerable against the Exia.

That's a lot for a supposedly "melee flanker" type of ms. I don't personally think he's OP but he is very overloaded. Plus, good Exias don't solely rely on the GN Blade charge btw since they know how loud it is.
@@ACEcrafter77 General players rely on the GN Sword a lot. The GOOD/Decent players tend to avoid long fights and try to take out the easy to kill targets most of the time. The usual strat I see is dash away from view then use GN Sword from the corner. Maximizing the use of the GN Sword when it's cooldown is done. So it's not that hard to handle Exia players when you know how they usually play. I fear the Marasai, Pale Rider, and Zaku (Ranged & Axe) players more than the Exia players. Since they deal a crap ton of damage & kills when piloted by competent players.
his mobility is S tier. coming from Apex where i was honing movement tech for like years… Exias potential is still untapped-on mobility alone. if ur semi decent, it’s not hard to 1v2 as an exia with one piece of cover. timing your dashes and secondaries around cover while chipping is nuts. and all you have to do is click heads 😳 i think he’s the funnest unit rn. but man the opposite team shouldn’t have to go full 6v1 just trying to take back a waypoint because there’s an Exia zoomin around lol
if they used the GN Rifle instead so it can have damage fall-off and a magazine, he wouldn't be as oppressive across ranges. Now they're stuck with non-fall off daggers with no reload in a game where everyone has reload except for that one tank that is also the lowest DPS in the game. (Unless they're keen on reworking weapons, that would be nice) But they chose the beam daggers. You're right on the rule of cool for this game especially if you look back on the battle director's interview. They drum up a concept first, find a mobile suit that fits, then research on the mobile suit to make it fit the concept. In this way I don't think there's enough love for the suits at all. Just like Barbie, his right click is very loud so getting ambushed by it shouldn't happen too often, unlike Barbie though he can still just dash through anyway and deal damage, then skip out while Barbie is probably stuck there unless he got a kill. His right click is also more reliable than Barbie's, I could sidestep most Barbies where I will need to burn a dash for the Exia, and god forbid I was using Sazabi at the time out in the open if it initiates on me because I can't lure him into a corner. There's almost no reason to use Barbie if you can get Exia, other than if Exia already got picked for double brawler set-ups.
hmm. my main gripe as the moment is marasai. that hook/one shot while being stunned is a problem. exia can dash everywhere and does it all yes but .. man he's squishy.
All melee characters seems OP until you find a way to deal with them. Used to find barbatos OP but as i play more barbatos isn't so bad anymore. Same case with exia, he is very easy to counter if you have have the right character like Marusai in your team. When he charges his blade its so super loud its hard to flank unless the enemy is distracted. I dont think Exia needs a nerf. Its the tanks that need a buff, too many skills break shields
In my honest opinion having multiple characters that are super strong is fine in Gundam Evo not everything has to be super balanced. The inherent flaw of OW and even MoBas is that everyone complains so much about balance that the game becomes stale. What happens next is only the newer characters receive a power creep, and that makes old character obsolete… If we have other characters receive buff in the right area or smart changes in how certain abilities interact with each other then the major issues are fixed without ruining specific problem units. Perfect example is Genji and Doomfist two characters that released broken and were nerfed into oblivion… instead of intuitive fixes they were just hammered into submission… I sincerely hope the same doesn’t happen in Gundam Evo.
Ranked is nothing but exia players wiping my entire team every game. Why do I even use unicorn to help buff my sazbi (idk if I spelt it right) if he can wipe both of us in one swoop the entire game.
Rather than nerfing a specific suit, they should just buff everyone so everything is on scale - I know it's not easy but it will avoid making some suit a shell of itself and keep the game from getting stale. If every suit is strong in their own right, the complaining will die down and we can focus on additional aspects of the game that should be improved.
IMO Barbatos and Exia are the only Gundams causing problems right now. GM Sniper and Unicorn while powerful have much more counter play then the other two.
looks at my 80 kills/18 deaths exia. no. i think he is alright. yea make exia use his gun deal lower body dmg and higher headshot. give it a triple burst shot instead of 2 high dps or smth.

As an Exia player, he would still be good even if you nerf his primary to have drop off, lower his boost to 2 from 3 and lower uncharge damage.

Exia is SUPER imbalanced. It's so obnoxious dealing with one as a z2r main simply because it can out speed me and keep me at mid range where I do nothing to it. I honestly think z2r being given a right click to aim down sights and tighten his spray up might actually be a decent check to it since he can keep up and they're both in the same health class

I find that the kryptonite to the Exia is the Guntank. Almost every time I face an Exia, my Guntank just wrecks it. Keep distance, constantly move, and constantly fire. That's my strategy.

@@tejoadi4349 True but that depends on the map and player. Each map has certain suits that thrive on them. I also enjoy Zaku II Ranged but have had better luck with the Guntank as of late.

exia having a range and uncharged dmg nerf, add more risk to the reward
add more HP to the tanks
dont think it should be stupid more, maybe like a 1600 saza, but it gives them more room to play against the combo duo of barbatos and Exia. and i think both of them should keep their mobility, but barbs should maybe not have its stuns and Exia add a more risk
maybe a 50% frontal melee damage reduction when shield is up for tanks
Okay so I see where you're coming from, but here's my take on things. Don't touch the number of dashes, exia has 800 hp if people are looking at you then you're dying without those dashes. You could increase the time it takes for Exia's dashes to charge and that would make it so the exia player needs to monitor when they actually have dashes. I think they could touch up the stun by making full charge(the stun) take longer and slow you down more as you're charging it. As for the damage on range, you could probably lower it by 1/3 and that should be just enough to not be oppressive at range.
It needs part of its kit removed for sure. An exia on the other team means I’m on my toes every single second so that maybe I can help burst it down.

It's bullshit that melee rips through shields when there's enough methods to counter them. Shield should mini stun an enemy that attacked with melee instead (not counting ults)

i wish they will remove the stuns on brawlers or mainly close ranged MS, if Z2R cant stun, Barba and exia shouldnt be able to, maybe give Barba one stun, which is the sword drop, but nerf his dmg overall. Barba atm is broken but can easily be dealt with once you understand how to dodge him. Exia on the other hand can carry the team.
Honestly i feel this game is surprisingly well ballanced the only character i generally find to be in need of a nerf personally is Exia, some people whine about barba but honestly barbatos has plenty of hardcounters same with zaku melee, but exia? thanks to his ranged poke and yea 5 dashes he is just entirely differnt and only "hard" counter i can see is a good GM sniper player

If your connection is not at best Axia is annoying, things don't go right every time he uses his special dash attacks.
Maybe I've been up against low skill players, but I find Barbatos is somewhat decent at chasing down an Exia. Zaku is also good to make them retreat. Can rarely kill them, but making them fall back while your team pushes is good enough for me.
When you think an unit is balanced when it is almost unkilable while being able to dish tons of damage that's where the game goes wrong...

Genuinely feels like Exia is their darling child and they couldn’t fathom it being anything other than top tier. No one character should be able to do the entire teams job.

Hey I was wondering how strong Barbatos actually is at higher ranks? I've played him here and there for fun on casuals but I'm not sure if I want to invest more time in him or not, I'm a competitive player and I want to see how far I can minmax the game that's why I'm asking

I'm sure that any decent player with a character that has 2 dashes can counter him easily, he might still be useful against sazabi, Dom trooper, gm sniper etc. I might be saying that because I haven't encountered a really good Barbados player yet though.

Granted there have been matches where we played against a new exia who thinks just buying a new character off the bat will get you instant wins but didnt perform well at the end of the day but the exia players who know what they are doing I just get killed nine times out of 10.

They should make trans-am affect exias abilities after the ult finishes. In the anime when they use trans-am it lowers the performance of the gundam so maybe have it like his ability are in like a cooldown instead of it him getting it back, also they should have just use exia's gun as his primary fire instead of the daggers

Yes he's too unfair. My tracking isn't the best but he's still a nightmare to kill or counter. Hope he gets nerfed. He's more annoying than Doomfist.
Reminds me of LoL season 3. The certain bruisers had enough damage to blow up everyone including tanks, but also had the HP to survive anything as long as they don't engage when low on health.

In my journey to gold rank 2 as Exia main, I don't think it needs any nerfs for two main reasons:
1. It has the highest skill requirements imo ( I know I'm not one to talk with only gold 2 rank LOL). It can't just thoughtlessly engage in battle with its squishy hp - not like the other two brawlers with 1K hp and 1.2K hp who can tank some hits -. You have to position yourself in a way that you can pick off a QUICK kill and immediately get out of the way to nearby covers before you got shut down by their friends. You can only do this if you have a significant amount of hours playing Exia in many different scearios. You have to find that good feeling with its combo (hold slash to stun, land 3 headshot with its primary weapon, skill 1 to slash, land 3 more hits with primary weapon, and dash away to find cover).
2. It can be somewhat easily countered in close range. Other mobile suits are there to counter Exia (kinda). Marasai with its hook combo which can immediately delete Exia, Turn A with its grapple followed by headshot, Gudam with its flail, etc. With Exia's squishy HP, every kill attempts are very risky.
So with these reasons I don't see why it needs any nerfs, if anything I do think that other mobile suits need buffs, such as Mahiroo with its skill sets, Turn A with its grapple having a significant time lag, etc.
As a Exia Main: It's not unfair.

Fighting against Exia is simple, listen for the charge attack.
It's squishy, give some space so you'll see where it goes.
It's there to harass people or pick off people going solo.
Been bullying Exia players with the Metthus, GM and Guntank lmao
For Sazabi players lure it away from repair pickups, or hog the repair pickup.
Tight spaces is your advantage since you got your shotgun and shield.
Dom Trooper players are the most vulnerable against the Exia.

@@YukitoOnline That is true but the point of the video is how overloaded Exia is rn. Good ranged damage, 7 dashes, low cds, cdr, melee burst, 100% accurate left click no reload, buffs on ult. That's a lot for a supposedly "melee flanker" type of ms. I don't personally think he's OP but he is very overloaded.
Plus, good Exias don't solely rely on the GN Blade charge btw since they know how loud it is.

General players rely on the GN Sword a lot.
The GOOD/Decent players tend to avoid long fights and try to take out the easy to kill targets most of the time.
The usual strat I see is dash away from view then use GN Sword from the corner.
Maximizing the use of the GN Sword when it's cooldown is done.
So it's not that hard to handle Exia players when you know how they usually play.
I fear the Marasai, Pale Rider, and Zaku (Ranged & Axe) players more than the Exia players.
Since they deal a crap ton of damage & kills when piloted by competent players.

his mobility is S tier. coming from Apex where i was honing movement tech for like years… Exias potential is still untapped-on mobility alone. if ur semi decent, it’s not hard to 1v2 as an exia with one piece of cover. timing your dashes and secondaries around cover while chipping is nuts. and all you have to do is click heads 😳
i think he’s the funnest unit rn. but man the opposite team shouldn’t have to go full 6v1 just trying to take back a waypoint because there’s an Exia zoomin around lol
if they used the GN Rifle instead so it can have damage fall-off and a magazine, he wouldn't be as oppressive across ranges. Now they're stuck with non-fall off daggers with no reload in a game where everyone has reload except for that one tank that is also the lowest DPS in the game. (Unless they're keen on reworking weapons, that would be nice)
But they chose the beam daggers. You're right on the rule of cool for this game especially if you look back on the battle director's interview. They drum up a concept first, find a mobile suit that fits, then research on the mobile suit to make it fit the concept. In this way I don't think there's enough love for the suits at all.
Just like Barbie, his right click is very loud so getting ambushed by it shouldn't happen too often, unlike Barbie though he can still just dash through anyway and deal damage, then skip out while Barbie is probably stuck there unless he got a kill. His right click is also more reliable than Barbie's, I could sidestep most Barbies where I will need to burn a dash for the Exia, and god forbid I was using Sazabi at the time out in the open if it initiates on me because I can't lure him into a corner. There's almost no reason to use Barbie if you can get Exia, other than if Exia already got picked for double brawler set-ups.
They should balance his primary fire the same way as Kiriko. Lower bodyshot damage with a 3x headshot modifier.
hmm. my main gripe as the moment is marasai. that hook/one shot while being stunned is a problem. exia can dash everywhere and does it all yes but .. man he's squishy.

All melee characters seems OP until you find a way to deal with them. Used to find barbatos OP but as i play more barbatos isn't so bad anymore. Same case with exia, he is very easy to counter if you have have the right character like Marusai in your team. When he charges his blade its so super loud its hard to flank unless the enemy is distracted. I dont think Exia needs a nerf. Its the tanks that need a buff, too many skills break shields
In my honest opinion having multiple characters that are super strong is fine in Gundam Evo not everything has to be super balanced.
The inherent flaw of OW and even MoBas is that everyone complains so much about balance that the game becomes stale. What happens next is only the newer characters receive a power creep, and that makes old character obsolete… If we have other characters receive buff in the right area or smart changes in how certain abilities interact with each other then the major issues are fixed without ruining specific problem units.
Perfect example is Genji and Doomfist two characters that released broken and were nerfed into oblivion… instead of intuitive fixes they were just hammered into submission…
I sincerely hope the same doesn’t happen in Gundam Evo.

Ranked is nothing but exia players wiping my entire team every game. Why do I even use unicorn to help buff my sazbi (idk if I spelt it right) if he can wipe both of us in one swoop the entire game.
Rather than nerfing a specific suit, they should just buff everyone so everything is on scale - I know it's not easy but it will avoid making some suit a shell of itself and keep the game from getting stale. If every suit is strong in their own right, the complaining will die down and we can focus on additional aspects of the game that should be improved.
That would be a massive mistake, and would turn this game into a colossal clusterfuck of instant kill nonsense and gimmicks
The only suit that should be compared to Exia is Zaku. Zaku doesn't have a 1 hit. It's grenade is a joke. You cant reload in your smoke.
