Have you ever thought about creating e-learning content/modules/videos that’s school-specific that you could then offer as a package for schools to buy? Could be a good way to get into lots of schools to begin with, without all the travelling! You’d be fab at teaching sex education in schools, don’t doubt yourself!
When Hannah accidentally makes me feel like a good parent: "teaching skills is easier than teaching values." Now I don't feel so bad I haven't been well enough to work on my kid's cleaning ability (or hair brushing in one case) because I know I'm getting the values messages through. 💖
@@morehannah aw thanks hon! I can't wait to see what kind of parent you'll be. Jessica surprised me a bit, but in a good way of course lol. Funnily enough I'm actually going to be teaching my high schooler how to calendar block over the weekend (also homecoming weekend 😫 ) because he broke down last night screaming "I hate time! There's never enough!" Why they don't teach this in schools I'll never understand. Took me getting (counts in head...) 5 chronic health conditions by 25yo to realize I needed that skill and then only a month to get decent at it. And yes, we're going to use calendar blocking bc it's definitely the best imho lol
The maternity leave question got me thinking! I remember Hank and John Green taking paternity leave and they had friends and other creators take over while they took time off. Would be cool to see that on your channel if it was possible!
@@rio8529 No, there's been no announcement of such a thing. One of the questions in the video was about taking sick leave while self-employed, and another question was regarding if Hannah would take a maternity leave if she did become pregnant.
A German creator, @Mailab, also did a maternity leave and it worked! She let everyone know, and most of the community had the notification bell on, so when she came back, everyone still watched her videos! I was so happy that it worked out for her
If it makes you feel better, myself and a lot of my peers also feel 'trapped' in our jobs. Can't change role for fear of paycut, skillset etc etc. Aaaah to be an adult 😂
Absolutely. I work in a healthcare job, but in America, which means I have my very own giant stack of student loans. I can pay them off just fine....as long as I stay at my current income level. There is only one type of job I am qualified for that will pay that income, and that's my current job. So even though I'm quite burned out and would love to change careers, I just can't financially do it yet. Someday.
I (student) can't afford Patreon, but what I can do is watch your videos in the background without an addblocker. Good for the algorithm and at least a little for the UA-cam revenue... take youre break! 🐘
I love this type of video, also, speaking as a parent, I would be thrilled if you gave sex Ed in schools!! My daughter is in secondary school and says it's hideous and embarrassing and the teachers are just regular staff members not specific at all. Your knowledge, confidence, honesty and openness would be such an asset to young people's education! Sending lots of love and positive health vibes xxx
Switching between creative and admin tasks is something I've been having a big ol' struggle with lately so thank you for the nudge to block some time aside especially for this reason! Loved this vid!
the payyyy i felt that. i work for a non-profit doing sexual assault prevention (lessons on consent, myths, bystander intervention, etc.) and the pay is not a sustainable career choice tbh... good for experience at the beginning of my career, but if i ever want a house or a wedding, it's not a long-term solution. I wish this work was better paid!!
I think she mentioned in her four day work week video that both of her employees are also self employed or at least her editor is and that her editor already does something similar regarding the 4 day work week, but you'd have to check the video to know exactly.
I do the same job! Rate per hour is decent but no stability of hours. I just got a scholarship to become a full time teacher (I can do health, sociology and bio) which is OK. I'm also planning to continue my studies in Health Psychology part time so I can be a sex and relationships therapist or higher level public health professional later. Hoping that's more sustainable for me!
I think you would do very well in a school setting. What I remember from school back in my day was that just listening to someone for X hours is kinda boring. Just having a workshop with the kids, just talking to them about everything. I think you would excel at that. You have an insane amount of knowledge in the field, and just have a conversation with the students in a very low-key setting would do wonders. I would have responded very well to something like that over a traditional teacher-student sex-ed class.
I'm sorry that you have to work while being sick! That sucks! I'm also self-employed (but in a very different field, I'm a private teacher) and I totally feel ya, it's really hard to have a paid leave. And in my case there's not the option of keep working because ppl want to take a break from their studies. It's hard! Being in this situation I fully understand how patreon has so much value! I can only support ppl from Brazil because the exchange rate is high at the moment.
Calendar blocking has done wonders for me! Your video about it really helped. While I don't always stick to what i block out, if theres something important i make sure to dedicate time to it, and also it allows me to work my chores around events I need to attend!
Uf maternity leave is so difficult as a self-employed. As a 9 to 5er in GER we have to take maternity leave 6 weeks before and 8 weeks after birth + having a year work-off with less money but still enough. Luxury I guess 🤔 P.S: I hope u feel better soon!! All the wishes your way!
I'm curious about the situation regarding four day work weeks and the people you employ - is that an option you'll be in a position to extend to them, too?
The being with someone for experience thing is something Sexpression do a lot with new members! They'll pair them with someone more experienced so that they don't feel like they've been thrown in at the deep end.
Hey Hannah! I'm sorry to hear that you've been feeling 'shite' recently 😟 Hope you've not ended up in hospital again. If you needed to take a complete break from UA-cam/social media for a few weeks then I am sure everyone would understand because your health is your main priority and you shouldn't feel under pressure to push yourself to get content out when you feel so rubbish. Maybe think of it like this - if it were Dan who was feeling yuck and not really feeling well enough to work but thinking he ought to be working, what would you be saying to him? Then try to follow your advice! WRT working in schools, you'll know when it's the right time to start doing this I think. I don't know if I have told this before, so apologies for repeating myself, but after leaving uni, I wanted to do a Teaching English as a Foreign Language course. However, at that time courses were super expensive and intensive plus there weren't many work opportunities apart from going abroad, and I didn't have much experience in the world of work generally so I put the idea on the back burner. Fast forward 20 years, and I finally got my certificate by doing the course online through a reputable provider and there are now more work choices than just going abroad to teach, for example I can teach online from the comfort of my own home! Doing the course now felt like the right time and I have got what I think are skills that I can transfer over to teaching. All I need now is some work!! I think you might need to keep testing the waters to see if it is a good time to do schools work and if it isn't, then trust your gut instinct and pull back. There's nothing wrong with waiting if it doesn't feel right! Hope you feel better soon. Hugs and best wishes coming your way from up North!! 🤗 x
Love your videos and how honest you are ❤️ wondering whether you have any book videos planned soon love your recommendations, maybe an end of year reading vlog to hit any goals? Hope you're feeling better soon
How I quickly make lesson plans for my kids: I look up freely available ones on the topic, use what I like from them and drop or change what I don't and then I'll add in things I think need adding either for better information or just to make it more engaging and more my style. And while idk if it's true for s*x Ed, pretty much everyone in my early childhood education classes did the exact same thing. Same with my homeschooling friends. Trying to write one from scratch is like trying to write a pop song without ever hearing any by comparison.
Hope you feel better soon! If you don’t mind telling us, could you recap what’s been going on for you? (I know you did in your newsletter but I missed it!)
I would love to work part-time and do more fulfilling things outside of work, but that feels so unattainable. At least for you with Patreon - presuming it continues to grow - it's feasible. The only thing you have to work out is scaling back your work hours and still fitting everything in.
Honestly everyone gets imposter syndrome. I've just started a new career and I am green but honestly if there's an opportunity to try something new I think you'd be great in schools but understand if money and time thing is constrained
Realising Hannah watches the same UA-camrs with babies that I watch... I am not planning kids any time soon... my friends disagree when they see my watch history
I know that you know this already but I want to reiterate that we would be all ok if you needed time away from UA-cam for your health or to figure out what you want to do other than UA-cam. It worries me that you keep uploading videos if you feel like quitting everyday

Hey Hannah hope your health situation improves/becomes more manageable soon.
We overestimate what we can do in a day, and underestimate what we can do in a year. If you wrote 1pg a day, in 1 year you'll have an entire book. 💖🙏
