I tried doing a low-spend for 2024. I certainly spent way less than usual, but more than I would have liked! I'm doing another low-spend challenge for 2025! It can only get better as my values clarify and I get stronger!
I don't know if it's the same in the US, but here you really need to watch 'specials' with a VERY jaundiced eye. For example, cans of Pepsi were promoted at '30 x 2 cartons for $52" while the 24 cans were $20 - or CHEAPER per can and I wasn't stuck lugging two heavy cartons home. Then there's the '50% off RRP' when the item was NEVER EVER sold at that "RRP", so it's just marketing BS. Nice list Sara - THANK-YOU! We're nervously watching your election - I think you are in for some interesting times ahead! Cheers from Oz!
Very tricky of them! I'm from the US and someone online said that some of the beauty products for men are cheaper than the same thing in the women's section! She was right. I saw that the Biore Pore Strips at Target are $2.00 cheaper in the men's section!
I’ve invested in garden solar lights and put them on our landing and bathroom window ledges and hope they’ll save us putting the upstairs lights on for as long. They do seem to help! If I turn the lights on, I turn them so the little solar panels face the dominant light source so that helps too!
@@lynnec5395 it’s fantastic! If it saves you turning a light on for an hour a day in your cold season that really adds up and in your hottest season it’s a lot longer!
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies you should definitely give it a go Sarah. If anyone uses a nightlight (maybe one of your beautiful grandbabies?), they would really help
I am 51 years old and I don't think I ever let the water run while brushing my teeth (3 minutes!) Or when I wash my hands. I think that is really common here in Germany. Saving the change even if not using physical money is fantastic. Unbelievable how much money that brings over time. All the best❤
@@saraconklinfrozenpennies Ooooh.........I'd argue that one. Have you ever tried Japanese Kewpie mayo? It's SO delicious and tasty and we find a little goes a long way, so it's economical dollar wise AND calorie wise. I buy Hellman's too here in Oz but it's neck and neck as to which is better - they both have different uses! Cheers from Oz!
Great tips and tricks for frugal living. These are all very practical and easy to implement. I always check my pantry before shopping and always make a list also. This keeps me from buying unnecessary food items and also helps me remember what I do need to buy.
I have motion sensor lights on my stairs, landing and kitchen. They turn on as you aproach and turn off after about 60 seconds, saves the lights bring left on by accident.
Hi, I’m not sure if you mentioned that you buy Skechers as I watch several frugal money channels. But if you do, my Capital One credit card is offering a 20% reduction on Skechers products. Of course, I don’t know if you have a Capital One credit card
I only shop when there is a very good deal going on. Most of the time I can go without shopping for extended periods because there is enough food already in my house. My stores are 25 miles away. I tend to go grocery shopping about every 3 weeks.
I just scored a super deal on adidas sneakers that were marked down AND were children's size. You can pull that off when you are a shorty! And those no spend periods can reprogram you completely. We do Secret Santa in my family, and we are supposed to submit some things you want, within a price limit, and I'm having a hard time thinking of things I want as a present.
For your secret santa, what's a small consumable indulgence you enjoy in Winter or Spring but avoid buying? Some nice coffee? A selection of teas? Items to have an at-home spa day? A small, pretty thermos to carry coffee or a hot snack? Some fancy spices or sauces you usually don't buy? Or a kit to try a craft you're interested in exploring
Surchases are violations of Mastercard and Visa's agreement with the merchant. If you report it, they will be fined and can lose the ability to accept those cards.
Please tell your husband that he can replace his battery rather than giving up the phone. The Apple Store did it for me once, a cellphone repair place the second time. IMO, the older iPhones are MUCH better than the newer ones.
Do yourselves a favor........quit target, costco, bj's, snacking, starbucks all together. I have and I don't miss them! Most of these stores just sell junk and processed foods and imported crap from China . No thank you!
Fellow New York State . Does target still give you five cents a bag even though we are state mandated to bring our own bags? Because I just wanna make sure the next time I go to target and I say where’s my five cents. 😂
Impulsive buying no more , when I see something that I like , I questioned myself do I really need it? Do I have the money for it? I’m I going to use it or wear it? If I answer no to any of these questions it stays on the rack … but it is still hard sometimes tho
I'm frugal in many ways but timing showers is way too frugal for me -- not worth pinching pennies in that area. I can't imagine "rushing" my shower time for the sake of saving next to nothing in return. But to each their own.
I hate taking showers. So I never have to time mine because they are quick. Now my teenager on the other hand. His are timed otherwise he'd never get out. had nothing to do with "pinching pennies" for us.

These perso sl challenges work. I lowered my gas and electric by 1 third. Now I'm trying to do zero waste with the fridge. Good luck to you
I never run the water while I'm doing dishes. Running hot water the entire time adds up!
Agree - great tip! Thanks for watching.

Great list of tips. Many I already do but I can always use a reminder. As to selling clothes, I never have good luck selling even new clothes.
Restaurants also charge servers a fee if the tip is on a credit card. So when you pay cash you also help the servers.
This must be new because they didn’t do this when I waited tables.

We did the military style shower when I was a kid. I still do this now. My hubby though is in for1-2 hrs so I guess he’s using the water for me too.
Great advise. Easy down to earth.

If it's warm enough, turn the shower off as you wash your hair or body. Then turn it only to rinse.

I was able to wear the kids sizes for the longest time. And then I had kids and my feet went up an entire size! Goot deal!
@saraconklinfrozenpennies I did go up half a size from what I wore when I was younger, but I still fit into some child sizes
