Running has saved my life! Never thought of myself as a capable runner as a young adult and I mean never! I always told myself I’m just not a runner...but that just isn’t true! I AM a runner and a good one. I lost my brother and only sibling in 2012 to an accidental overdose and depression got the best of me, I didn’t leave the house for about a year and then got fed up and went for a 🏃‍♀️ run I started slow with fast walking and then felt the need to run and got that one mile goal out of the way....I pushed through the out of breath stage that used to break me, and now I love it more then anything I do for myself! Did my first 5k last year and gonna do a ten mile run this June. Six days a week I run three miles a day at least. O and I lost 65 pounds i tried my wedding dress on, on my 20th wedding anniversary date and it fit;) I’m a 42 year old wife and mother and now runner 💖T

You CAN run 1 mile. Just do it. You have to start off small then build on it. Try running that 1 mile, stop as many times as you need to catch you breathe. Then set a goal to run that 1 mile without stopping. Add a mile to it a week later. So now your running 2 miles. You will get a runners high at almost 2 miles, mine kicks in at 1.5 to 1.75 miles into a run. Then you are hooked. It is way easier to add miles to your run, control your breathing, this si the key.

Plantar fasciitis, runners' knee.I, bial band (ITB) syndrome, achilles tendonitis, shin splints. These types of injuries have scared me from running. My my last run was the Marine Corps Marathon. *My tips:* Me and my dad always run together. He was super heavy first and lost around 30-40 KG in 6 months and later ran 1,2 miles the after 6 months. He got 57th out of 1500.
    1. You want to run in a speed where you can talk/chat with your partner that you are running with. You don't want to go too fast so that your energy starts to run out and not to slow so your body will stay cold.
    2. The first third of your whole running map, breathe thru your nose. The second third you will breath slowly thru your mouth, and the third and last you can breathe fast with your mouth.
    3. If you don't sweat, you are too slow.
    4. Always stretch your legs before running.
    5. If it gets cold, use gloves and a hat, the coldness will drain your stamina fast.
    6. NEVER stop during your leap. If you get tired, walk fast, but don't stop.
    7. Eat macaronis, banana, or anything with fast calories 3 hours before you run. And don't drink water when you running.
    8. Everytime you run, for exempel if you ran 1km last time, you can push your self to 1,5km next time. You can always push yourself 500 extra meters if you follow these steps. Thank you :)

Agree James! And it always depends on the weather too. Like if it's a hot and a sunny day, you should drink during when you running. But keep in mind that you can get ''hold'' ( I don't know the word in English ) when you're running. You know when it hurts (cramps) in your stomach. If I drink during or right before when I am about to run, I get cramps in my stomach and that destroys the whole process.

Disagree w/4,half of 7,and 8. You want to warm up muscles, dynamically, not necessarily stretch them, hydration is important on longer runs, an ounce here and there is okay plus you want to get your body used to taking in fluids during long runs; finally, your increases should be 10-15% increases, not 50% from week to week. These are my beliefs, ymmv.

I was a fat shit and out of shape. Now it’s January and I’ve been off and on mostly on some months but I’m doing 3 mile runs now in decent 10 minute mile times. Also, I have always used timing my breath to a foot fall. Example, every third time my left foot hits the ground I breathe in. Breathe out to match the timing. Set your own timing based on right/left dominance and cadence. The breathing timed like that creates a bit of a hypnotic effect and allows me to run much more distance with less effort.

Running is the key to a happy life, these videos are a good tool for beginners.
In November 2007 I was on a life support machine after a serious accident.
In mid Jan 08 I started jogging for the first time ever, to help speed up recovery.. “From here to the next tree, or lamp post” and so on, stop / start until I could do 20 mins without stopping.
Then mid February 2008 I joined a running club.
July 2010 I won a half marathon on (one of) the hilliest courses in Ireland!.
    Key to success.
    Starting at 20secs
Move up to 20mins, eventually 20 miles!
Two key words for any beginners to Remember.. Perseverance and consistency.

i actually enjoy running and the pain you get from pushing yourself. it sounds weird and all but i always get lactic acidosis buildups, they hurt so bad, but running through it and feeling your legs burn and get sore the next day is the most exhilarating thing

    "How to run longer"
It helps me greatly to forget what time I started running and simply
just make up whatever new time. There are mornings I started running
before I even got out of bed.
This mindset also helps with my "eat only once a day diet".
    I have been progressing fantastically.

There's only a couple of things that count, run consistently, 5-6 times a week, varied training/running, long, short, fast, hill, earmark one long run each week (20k up to 35k closer to marathon), start these runs slower, build up during, finish quicker. Train specifically for and run marathons, not too many each year, say 2 ideal, 3 max, anymore you just become a plodder. Also a couple of half marathons.

Totally agree. People don't progress in running because its all about consistency. If your not on your feet at least 4 days a week consisting of varied workouts, you simply will not gain the endurance in your cardiovascular system or the structural support in your musculoskeletal.

Jim Wilson Can't claim to be an elite runner or anything but I run a lot and this is some really sound advice. I would add that taking care of your body after demanding runs is underrated. Stretching/yoga/foam roll, whatever works to combat the inevitable tightness and soreness.

Loved it; that's exactly the info I need. I try to keep my cadence up, but I tend to go all over the place (160-180). I'll definitely give these this weekend. Btw, beautiful scenery! That sunset (sunrise?) is gorgeous!

More good ideas. I've been trying the nose breathing after seeing it mentioned on one of your other videos. I can immediately feel myself breathing deeper. Good to know I can still breathe out through my mouth, makes it much easier.
