It's an organization where smart kids go into this thingy idk the exact definition but im in NEHS which is NHS but for elementary btw NHS in the USA stands for national honors society
This isn't just important to know for applying to schools. Employers want this on resumes too. Don't just say what your previous job titles were or even necessarily the job duties. Talk about what you actually accomplished. "Took over XYZ project and completed it a month ahead of schedule and $100K under budget." That's the sort of thing that gets a prospective employer interested. They want to know that you can get results.
@@bonbons1868 ikr? Like if ur gonna get a new president, at least find an agenda that's more suited to the situation AND is gonna be at least 10% fun. I dont exist just to host your events, i wanna change the school
Let me clarify things: this channel is mainly for American schools. NHS in America is National Honors Society (they also have National Junior’s Honors Society) NHS in Britain is Healthcare
I was actually inducted to my middle school’s NJHS last night . It was a lot of fun . Best part was two of my best friends are also in NJHS . Our “job” is to come up with fundraising ideas for the school and community charities , like shelters that need clothes . It is pretty rare considering it it only open to 7th and 8th grades and I was one of the 45 picked in the 200 in 7th and 8th combined . There is about 100 students per grade . NJHS - National Junior Honor Society
Yups this is also applied in work interview, interviewer is digging for what you have done or what contribution you have done to organization you part of in the past not a probability answer or description of your former organization
Hey, could you make a video on how to get into your schools honors society, at my school it’s very secretive, people don’t talk about it much, and you have to get an invitation.
As someone in the UK, this really confused me. NHS means National Health Service, its our free healthcare. (well, we say "free" but our taxes pay for it)
question: are the accomplishments you’ve made in the club more important than which board position you held? or will they always assume you didn’t do as much work as the board? asking because i’m not the president of my club but the whole board does an equal amount of work. we just need names for the positions lol
Does this still apply to me? I'm a British student and I wanna study in the US. I'm assuming US admissions officer will have no idea about what my Extracurriculars are because they're based in the UK and the UK only. Should I or should I not describe them?
As a Brit, this was extremely confusing
(In Britain the NHS is our free healthcare)

Ohh, ok lemme explain here in America NHS stands for National Honors Society, not free healthcare 😗

Me and all of the other British ppl: lol what?😳
National honor society
Yeah I was like: What?! 2 kids became president and vice president of the NHS??!
Tysm your videos help a lot but would love to hear a detailed clarification for international applicants.
“You and your friend become president and vice president”
“Of the US?”
“Of NHS at your school”
“oh”
Quick tip-you can actually include descriptions in the title of the activity, if it's not too clear what the activity is!
O my gosh I literally described my organizations when I applied for the Yale Summer Program. Thank you for the advice I’ll keep it in my mind😭

Yea shame that Americans don't have a national health service
Oh us Brits got slightly confused then
I’m in NHS currently and this is actually true since you have to write a resume for yourself.
Who here is binge watching all his videos before applying for college? Not me
I did this, had a 4.6 and a 36 ACT/1570 SAT. I got rejected from all my higher level schools and ended up at the University of Alabama 🤠
Watching this will make my collage life study free this guy is a legend like sooner or later I dont need to even open a book and still pass
We’re learning this in school right now!
thats just how you should write it on ur resume...they dont care about the fluff they want the experience
My God how good it this. My dumb teachers keep telling me to describe random stuff that has no relations

its best to just write nhs because then theyll think you were at the actual nhs lmao

Thanks so much this is great advice I’m going for school captain next year
Isn’t NHS the national health service 😀
Edit: I’m from the UK I now understand what NHS means in the USA 😭
one of my teachers said that when describing achievements start the statement off with a verb like
mowed lawns or
volunteer at food drive
Do high school kids still do the Model United Nations? That used to be a good one to have for college applications BITD.
Yes
Could you both though like talk about the org and your accomplishments ?
Me as a Brit: *visual confusion*
NHS In the UK is health care so ima just say this is either me as prime minister or head of house

How did the president get such good grades if they couldn't follow basic instructions like "describe your accomplishments"?
